BlackZ,

Thanks, I've read that so many users are happy with theirs. I'm going to check for things before I leave the store because they charge a 15% restocking fee, so I'll check battery, temp, pixels, yellow tint etc to make sure everything works.

I went to the Mac store where I ordered my Macbook Pro 15" i7 high res anti glare and iMac 27" i7 and although my Macbook Pro still isn't in (I've been waiting 3 weeks) they had the exact one I ordered for customers to look at it. I wasn't on it that long but the font seemed fine to me. Plus the guy showed me that you can spread your fingers apart to just make the text bigger if you want. It will be interesting to see what happens when I use the laptop over time but from what I saw it looked great.

At work I work on a PC and just realized the other day that I use the same resolution as the Macbook Pro I'm getting except my screen is matte. Also the guy there was going to show me iSquint but I forgot about it when I left the store. I was just happy to finally see one in person. I'm looking forward to mine arriving.

I have got my hres glossy 15". Personally i dont like the fonts shown (too small for me but i can live with that).

For me, i would prefer standard res 1440x900.

I've had the 15" high-res now for about 48 hours. WOW. I love it. I feel like i've gone up in screen size, as I can fit way more on my desktop! I LOVE the increased pixel density. It's not difficult at all for me to read. To each his own, though... Best solution is to just go look at the Apple store. I do have the glossy screen. Matches my cinema display perfectlY!

I, too, have had my High-Res Glossy MacBook Pro for a few days now and I just want to chime in to say that I love it! It's a HUGE difference for me and all these posts about the fonts being too small really made me question my choice - but totally unfounded! I came from a measly 1280x800 15" screen so it really was a huge improvement getting a 1680x1050 screen. And I love it! The fonts are not small at all and I have so much screen estate! Definitely a great choice and I can highly recommend getting the high-res screen!

re: picture - unfair comparison! the snow leopard background is far more saturated than the leopard background even on the same system. I have both on my mac pro and have noticed this myself

and unless you've changed it, they use different gamma settings!

use the same back gamma and screen and then compare!!

i7 17"

i have the HR Anti Glare screen now for about 2 weeks and I was doing some photoshop work on it yesterday and it struck me then how much better the display was than my 22" ViewSonic. I think it's perfect.

Hi Res antiglare 15 inch and no probs.

Looked at the C2D models side by side and way prefered the antiglare (just to much relflection in the screen on the hi-res's for me). Then waited for-ever for the update to arrive and got the antiglare.

One thing that people dont always mention is you can just change the screen resolution in the settings really easily, just settings > diplay > then choose your screen resoulution.

So even if you found the font to small, and found zooming occasionally to repetative, you could turn the resoultution down and get the big fonts back....but still have the option of upping the resolution if you need it, say for watching a film or editing photo's etc.

That's because using a resolution other than the native resolution is NOT an option.

A high-res 15" running at a normal-res 15-inch's resolution would look horribly worse than the normal-res 15".

Tell me about it.

I was surprised that the graphic designer used different backgrounds and said one screen has more vibrant colors than the other.

Let's make your statement a bit more general... Running an LCD at any resolution other than its native resolution never looks very good.

is that really a fair comparison?
i mean, aren't the screens completely different types?
i'm sure even a non-hi res new MBP would be amazing compared to the old.
I'd rather see a non-hi res new to a hi-res.

here's a comparison of my old machine and the new one. you can see the glossy gives much more vibrant colours.

If your attempting to compare matte to glossy here its not really fair.. that matte screen is not LED backlit (as far as I know) and its several years old... we need the newest hi res matte vs hi res glossy for a fair comparison.

Ah, that too. :D Thought I sorta covered that with my first statement.

Just thought I'd make mine specific just in case someone asks whether running a 15" hi-res at a non-native resolution, while looking worse, would still look better than or as good as the normal res.

Love my i7 15" HiRes Matte...

One suggestion, select: Finder > View > Show View Options... to change Finder Window font sizes, etc.

IMO, small price to pay for an absolutely fabulous, highly detailed display :)

Can you do this across the board with ALL app's and UI's, plus permanently increase web pages sizes without having to expand fonts each time you open a page. All while leaving in it's native resolution?

Because if so then you're correct, everyone should buy the hi res screen.

Then why do people complain about the font size, is it because we don't know how to resize all the fonts or ? Why doesn't the Apple Store staff suggest this?

Because if this is a solution then I'd also buy the hi res screen.

I'm thinking the solution isn't as simple as it sounds or there wouldn't be so many threads here with people complaining about font sizes and can't find a solution other than exchanging for the 1440 x 900 screen.

I've an i7 with HR AG too, and I've to say that if I could get an 1440x900 AG screen, this will have had the choice with any doubt.

HR it's ****ing small man... I've to expend a lot of hours programming and it's anoying to see me just over the keyboard looking the screen with my eyes medium-closed (like chinese... hahaha), know what I mean? Same face you put when you peal an orange!

So having seen the problems with the i5/i7 freezing, I'm gonna take the RMA, and get a new MBP with standard screen.

Can anyone answer my thread above?

I can't find how to adjust the System and UI fonts in applications.

Thanks.
My suggestion referred only to the Finder... and I only "View as columns".

Apologies for not getting back sooner.

I'm not even Chinese and i found this completely unneccessary. Keep this kind of **** out of the forums.
