@OP I tend to agree, BUT I still leave mine for one reason. PDAnet. Basically the only JB app I have on my iphone I use. Cycorder is ok but just a toy/gadget.

I think the JB iphones appeal more so to teens just because they can put theme's and customize their iphones, which makes sense. The older crowd doesn't care much about these types of apps so it's not a big deal to JB for them. Although now that Cydia is going to charge for apps the appeal will likely drop for those just looking for free stuff. Bottom line for me, I'm not paying 60 bucks a month for crappy 3g speed and a 5g data cap. I've run PDAnet for months and ATT hasn't a clue if I'm watching Youtube or surfing the web on my laptop. I've never even come close to 5g cap as the speed is to slow for anything else anyhow.

Once ATT (or any other carrier) releases 4g or LTE I'll consider paying their crazy monthly fee's. Until that day PDAnet is very nice to have.

Well then, Spaz, either you're a liar, or you just plain suck at jailbreaking, as you did it once, didn't get a good install, didn't bother do it completely, but using a half-arsed version to form your magnificently important opinion about it, which you've seen fit to post up and down these boards ever since, insulting and accusing everyone in your path like a braying jackass.

The only people who act like this are high school kids, because when you grow up, you find that anyone who acts like this toward total strangers gets deservedly punched in the mouth until they learn not to. Can't wait til you grow up. ...or just get a friggin life that doesn't revolve around the speed of your telephones operating system, and post a little less frequently.

I will stay jailbroken for the following reasons...

1. Cycorder <--fun to have, great for youtube in one button.
2. Xgps with TBT+voice <--- dont have a data plan so i need this.
3.Nintendo emulator
4.Docs <-- emailing pdf's dont work for me as I have large files of magazines, comics and books.
5.Lockscreen calender <-- its retarded to have to slide to unluck and click on calender.
5.Status notifier <--for same reason as above.
6.MXtube <--youtube without data connection
7.dtunes
8. And all other cool apps that are to come.

If your going to start throwing insults at other posters. Please feel free to exercises the option of....reading a little less frequently.

Uh oh, another anti/pro jailbreaking fest?

Anyway, for me, I jailbreak for just a few things, but they are things I do not want to live with out. I want SBsettings, PDAnet, Qik, Cycorder, Clippy, and xGPS. These give me the features I wish the iPhone came with stock- an easy way to change network settings, tethering, streaming or regular video, cut and paste, and voice turn-by-turn. That's all I use, but I wouldn't want to be without them. And as much as others may try to speak for me- I DO NOT HAVE ANY LAG.

But, that's what I like. I can see being underwhelmed, with all the hype it can seem like jailbreaking is supposed to change your life. For me, what it does, is give me features the iPhone, IMO, should have come with in the first place and if it did, I wouldn't bother jailbreaking.

Maybe your still in Junior school?
j/k ;)

No idea what junior school is. It was junior high back in my day, but I believe the term you're searching for nowadays is "middle school."

I think WinterBoard tends to appeal to teens more, yes -- but I think jailbreaking just appeals to anyone who likes to tweak things.

Me either, I'm an Aussie....I tried to remember back to some Brady Bunch lingo;)

Here it's Kindergarten, Primary school and then High School. Then get a job or go to University.........or both!

Well I had been jail broken for a while (a few months). I originally jail broke for things such as themes, mms and video recorder. I did install a few other things such as sweettooth but could never get it to work.

Anyway after a while i realised that these things were no good. Themes which was the main reason i jailbroke slowed everything down. So cycorder was no good cause by the time it had opened the moment would have passed. Mms was no good cause i never found the need to send or receive pictures. So i finally got sick of having a slow lagy phone for just a theme and after reading this thread it finaly promted me to restore to legit firmware.

So far i don't miss jailbroken features but I do like the speed that my phone is now going at.

That's what my brother did. It seems like jailbreaking for my brother and I was just a fun side project, and then we restored. It's so much smoother running stock and that's not just the first day after you restore either. My iPhone has been running practically glitch-free since I un-jailbroke it. I suppose if you jailbreak and don't install ANYTHING, it would be fine.

I dont know what people in stall on there phones to make them run slow. I have a very simple theme that uses glaskart icons with my own background. I dont know what i would do if my phone wasnt jailbroken. I used backgrounder all the time to run beejive. I save 20 bucks a month by not paying for texting and use beejive and it works flawlessly with backgrounder. Insomnia is nice when i have my phone plugged in for charger i turn it on that way if an im comes in i get it immediately. I dont use PDANET very often but its nice to have just in case you do need it same with cycorder. Just my 2 cents. I would not be able to enjoy my phone very much at all if i didnt jailbreak.

oh yea how could i forget sb settings. Its so nice to be able to just quickly turn off wifi, bluetooth, and location. I use the gps a lot and notice if you leave location it drains the battery pretty quick so its nice to be able to quickly turn it on and off.

I don't even know why i am taking my time to respond to another thread that has turned into a "jailbroken vs. non-jailbroken" debate, but alas, here I go.

It's clearly evident that no one who likes being jailbroken is going to turn anyone who likes being non-jailbroken over to the other side, and vice versa. So I won't even get into attempting to convince anyone what they should do with their phone. What I will say is, anyone who inherently assumes that all JB'd phones are much slower that stock ones are simply talking out of their asses. Period. The bottom line when it comes to jailbreaking is knowing what you're doing with and to your phone, and if you know how to keep your tweaks and themes and what have you at a minimalist level, you won't run into these oh-so-time-consuming lag problems that everyone who isn't jailbroken loves to point out.

Let's say it did cost me an extra 1-2 seconds of my time doing things on a jailbroken phone...to me, the added functionality and overall enjoyment that I get from my phone is worth EASILY 10x that amount of time I would have "wasted." For all I know, I could sit on the crapper for 5 minutes less today and buy that time back.

Honestly, if you like being jailbroken, stay that way, and vice versa. But 8 months since 2.0 and the 3G being jailbroken, I think it's time we stop these "I am so underwhelmed/overwhelmed/amazed/shocked at JB, etc." threads because they lead to nothing more than these ridiculous arguments between (at least what seem to me as the majority are) Apple fanboys and the rest of the world. Just my 2 cents.

JB still has a lot of good apps, but after App store came out JB is becoming less and less useful.

I haven't done a massive amount of playing around with the possibilities after jailbreaking, but I do love Winterboard and especially love the SEGA and Nintendo emulators. I probably use the SEGA emulator more than anything else on the phone and I would jailbreak it if that was the only thing I could get out of it.

I jailbroke because I wanted a whole bunch of command line tools that Apple is never going to provide

im exactly the same way :)

I jb'd awhile ago, i read up on it a lot and imagined my phone going at snail speed.. maybe thats why i dont notice any slow down? or maybe some people imagine the slow down.
