I got a rmini. Love it. Will prolly get an air too for home. Can't go wrong with either, or both

Got my iPad Mini Retina, even though I wasn't expecting it until the 16th!

Wow, wow, wow. The Mini Retina is amazing. Like every Apple device, it has a high build quality and brilliant design. Love the minimal side bezels. The display is simply stunning. I've used it for 4 hours so far and I got to say, the battery life is very impressive, much better than my iPad 3 which used to drain by about 15% in 20 minutes or so. I absolutely adore the form factor, how light and portable it is, and the fact that I can hold it and type with my thumbs. With the iPad 3, I had to put it on a table and type with my index fingers; that said, typing on the Mini is much more comfortable and faster. Anyway, it's a fantastic tablet. I got nothing bad to say so far. I also got a Smart Case; very minimal, fits the Mini very nicely and doesn't add much bulk and weight. However, I have to admit that there's one negative aspect, the volume buttons and the mute switch are hard to push with the case on.

Yesterday i received my retina iPad mini in the mail, i got the 16gb in slate gray. I also got a skinomi clear full cover.

The skinomi cover was intimidating to install, but its not that hard. After letting it set it feels nice and its nice to have my entire ipad covered. I would suggest this for anyone looking for a screen or body protector for any device. http://www.skinomi.com

(Snip) I can't wait to have everything set up! How are you guys enjoying your retina minis?

I have a third GEN iPad and 32 gig iPad rMini ATT
The mini is my go to, and go with me, for everything and everywhere. It fits my back pants pocket and so it is my constant companion. Mine is also covered with the Skinomi, front and back. I highly recommend that product and their customer service is beyond compare.
The only time that I use my third GEN is when the mini is charging. I truly enjoy using the mini and look forward to what the next generation may have to offer.

My thoughts on the retina iPad mini

Lol I know but I just keep thinking if that much money is worth having a device I can do all the same things I do on my phone just with a bigger screen.

To be honest, I don't see it a waste. In my opinion, the iPad is not a computer replacement and would make a great companion device to your MacBook Air.

I would mainly be using it for reading eBooks. I can browse the web and do everything else on my MBA and iPhone. I guess I'm just trying to convince myself to buy one lol

I agree with every point you made, i love being able to type on it like an iPhone. Enjoy!

Thanks!

This is somewhat off-topic but in one of your earlier posts you said that you use Notability. What stylus do you use with it? I'm looking for a stylus to take notes with and I'm wondering if I should get the Adonit Jot Script.

i have the bamboo stylus, it works okay but i usually just end up using my finger because its hard to write without hitting my palm on the screen.

Damn that's expensive. Maybe it'd be worth it if you're an artist, but I've been using this stylus with my rMini and I like it:

I removed the danlgy chain, didn't feel that added any value.

I had bought this stylus first, and hated it.

I use Goodnotes instead of Notability, I use it every day for work. I think the word wrapping on Goodnotes in zoom mode is more natural. Notability has some nice features like audio recording that could be good for some, but I didn't feel the need. I downloaded both and tried them, for $8 total it's worth both to see what you like best. For both, to me, zoom mode is the key to actually taking reasonable notes.

To use the rMini as my permanent work tool, and then turn it around and play XCOM and Star Wars:KOTOR on the thing at home (or commuting) is just amazing. I couldn't be happier with it.

I'm looking for a stylus with a thin tip. I have a Bamboo Stylus and the rubber nib is big. I want something similar to a real pen.

It is big and i have trouble writing with it, which is why i just end up using my finger anyways.

About to pull the trigger on a rMini 32GB. I don't store a ton and stream music and videos these day so 32GB seems to be the right one for me. Grabbing the Smart Case from Apple too. See ya on the other side!

My thoughts on the retina iPad mini

What do you all use your iPad Mini for?

When I'm doing intensive work and work requiring a lot of processing power, I use my MacBook Pro. The iPhone and iPad will not handle such work because they will really heat up plus I can never use my iPhone for things other than making calls and texting because the screen is too small.

When I had an iPad 3, I used it for casual stuff like web browsing, email, watch YouTube videos, Twitter, casual gaming, FlipBoard, reading news, taking notes, etc. I got my mini retina only yesterday but that's exactly what I'll be using it for. A laptop is heavy to carry around the house, so the mini is perfect because I can easily take it anywhere with me.

My thoughts on the retina iPad mini

I jb mine so yeah I love mine

I'm thinking of jailbreaking mine too. My iPhone is jailbroken and so I'm not used to keeping the iPad stock. I need some of the tweaks and Cydia apps on my iPad. Are you experiencing any issues after jailbreaking the retina mini? How's battery life? Any random reboots?

I have the Air and the rMini iPad. I switch back and forth between them and my MacBook Pro and 27" iMac. I have more games on the mini and more work stuff on the Air.

It does get a bit mad tho when I go to a clients and I have the 15" pro, Air, rMini and 5S in my bag. Soon clients will think I bill them too much. Haha

I bought the white retina iPad mini (wifi-only) with 128GB storage. I purchased it at the Best Buy online store on the day after Christmas and got it in the mail by January 6th - a few hours after I got my rMBP in the mail! At first, I never thought I would own an iPad because I didn't like how big the originals were. After I put my order for my rMBP on Christmas Day, I was looking through the Apple site and by chance noticed that they had the retina version of the mini! Perfect time to get myself an iPad (since all my apple devices that I have are retina anyway - iPhone and rMBP, why not complete the set?). I ordered it the next day because I had to think it over, and once I woke up, my decision was made. I originally wanted the retina iPad mini solely for the purpose of using it as an e-reader. Prior to this, I was reading books through the iBooks app on my iPhone and I purchased a LOT of books, so it got me thinking. I wanted an e-reader, but I didn't want to have to buy the books all over again because it accumulated a lot of money over the months, so I figured, get the retina iPad mini. It's the perfect device for reading; the size is perfect, the screen is amazing, it's light - just everything about it fits my needs for it perfectly. The only reason why I purchased the highest storage available (as expensive as it was, especially after having made a $3500 purchase the day before) is simply for the fact that, apart from my rMBP, it will be my go to device for gaming, watching videos/movies (like Netflix, YouTube, and the movies I have stored in the videos app), reading, etc. I absolutely love this device. I don't regret purchasing it, and above all, I haven't noticed any of the problems that other rMini users have reported such as image retention, yellow tint, etc. Everything about my rMini is perfect and has been since I first opened it from the box. The rMBP and the rMini were both late Christmas presents for myself and it's by far the BEST Christmas gift I've ever received!!

No issues at all. Battery life has been great.

Look at the GoSmart 200 or 300 stylus. You hunt for the perfect stylus will likely end there. I use it and it's amazing. It doesn't really look like a real pen, but feels like one.

Nope. I have many tweaks but a still perfect battery life and stability.

Thank you. I already did the jailbreak. No issues so far.

Thanks for the recommendation. I've seen some videos and it seems accurate. What's the difference between the 200 and 300?
