its the glue inside around the lens, they replace it - my original one did it, they replaced it after 30 seconds in the store.

I guess its normal then. I had them open a case for me and if it gives me problem later I will have it exchanged.

I just wasnt sure because some people say they dont have it. If its the autofocus then everyone should agree that they do!

But not everyone does?

I can shake mine violently, and i don't hear a damn thing.

Mine rattles too, and so did my Droid Eris. I believe it's the auto-focus mechanism or something in the camera. With my iPhone, the only time I can hear it is when I'm setting it down. Hold it somewhat parallel to a table, then lightly tap the upper right corner (the one with the camera) onto the table. You'll hear it rattle. It's the exact same sound my Droid Eris had, and I used that phone for a year with no problems.

Macvy Ricky looking at your past posts you seem to find something wrong with everything you buy. So my question is why do you keep buying apple products if you constantly find things wrong?

My 3G phones rattled slightly but have never heard it on my ip4.

There are moving parts in the phones. Some will rattle, some might not. If it bothers you, replace it. Apple is pretty liberal with their exchange policy.

As said before, the rattling is the camera, not the vibrate motor or switch. All iPhone 4s have this problem, but the degree varies. If you opt to go with a replacement phone, you're only going to end up with the same problem.

This isn't true, neither of my 4s have had this, nor my previous 3G or 2G. Something rattling around in your phone is not normal and I would take it back.

I think before anyone tells him to take it back they should understand that he has a problem with everything like his headphone jack didnt click right or his power button on his computer is 1mm recessed. Next thing you know iphone prices go up 50$.

I got my Verizon iPhone yesterday. The rattle I have is with the sleep/power button. I can see the button move when shaking it. If I place my finger on it and shake it, there is no noise.

This annoys me because when I hit something near the top of the screen I hear it.

Have any past users had thier phone replaced for this issue, and was Apple cool about it?

For all of you saying yours doesn't rattle, try this:

Hold it somewhat parallel to a table, then lightly tap the table with the upper right corner of the phone (where the camera is). You'll hear it rattle.

It's most noticeable if you tap it (or set it) on something soft yet firm, such as a mouse pad or something. Mine does not rattle at all if I shake it, but only when I do exactly what I described above.

Have an appointment at the Apple Store tomorrow morning about the lose/rattling sleep button. Will update everyone on how it goes.

i never even noticed the sleep/wake button rattling. thanks guys.. :( i'm seeing if i can move the wrapsol so that it hugs the button just right..
