Excellent, I think I can live with this. Will convert mine soon, just waiting for my screwdriver to arrive from ifixit.

nice one :D.

i havent regretted it....yet!

im hoping Apple release a white iPhone with the next refresh in June 2011 anyway as im due and upgrade then!

Hi everyone I really want to convert mine and come across the iphonefixed.co.uk living in England aswell seemed perfect. They mentioned mac rumours on the site so I popped on here to have a look and come across this post. So mickyfin did you ever get round to doing the conversion? I see pez555 done his and I wasnt happy on how the screen wasn't centred! It makes me think these cannot be the authentic oem parts which come from foxconn apple supplier. I am OCD with things like this and it would drive me mad! I only want to buy parts if I know they are 100% original. It does say on iphonefixed.co.uk they are original apple parts so are they telling fibs? I don't mind paying the money asking as the parts are perfect.

I dont think they are genuine due to the quality issues I faced. But then again the quality issues could be the reason why Apple has delayed the white product? I contacted iphonefixed.co.uk about the issues I face and they offered me a full refund. Ill be sending it back. It may fool people into thinking its a white iphone but I just don't feel comfortable having poor quality items on a £600 phone.

yep.

but ask yourself, how could they get it wrong on just the white model? as far as i am aware its just a colour change..... The screen alignment issue makes me a bit sceptical that they are not genuine, i mean, how could it be misaligned? what is different in the structure of the phone that causes this issue compared to the black? or is it just incompetent employees sticking it to the glass wrong (which is why so many companies are getting dud parts for conversions?)

They are still great parts, great quality compared to most (if not all) conversion services out there. I just feel the same as you do now, not comfortable having inferior parts on a phone i bought outright for £600. Plus if Apple decide to release a white iPhone in June 2011, what will that do to the resale value of the converted ones? eughhh.

lol the more i look at my phone now, the more i wish i sort of didnt get it done. I was willing to be the guinea pig and im glad i did.

Im also glad i kept my black parts. I reckon im going to send it back and get it converted back to black, but keep the white parts and maybe sell them on. I would like to keep the white back to use for myself as i think it would be a pretty cool look! The backplate is the best i have ever seen for a white one.....fact.

hmm i will sit on it for a day or two, get a quote from iphonefixed as for the service to get it back to black and keep the white backplate.

Isn't it odd they got rid of: "Our kit includes the following high quality original Apple OEM parts."

and changed it to: "Our kit includes the following high quality parts. "

hmm.

Indeed.

Anyway folk's, a bit of an update. This afternoon I completed replacing the headphone port/jack on a spare iPhone 4 frame I purchased, and have taken a series of photos to put together a guide on how to change/replace it.

I will mention though, its not for the faint hearted, and I do not recommend anyone to carry out this conversion if you are not experienced with micro electronics.

Removing the black headphone port, and replacing with a white one took me two hours, as I always take my time with something like this.

As said, I have several photos taken during the conversion process, and I will label them up, highlighting the different components. There are several very important things to note during the work, all of which I will detail in the guide.

I will upload my photos, and guide here later today. Tomorrow I will be doing the same for the dock connector too, replacing the black dock connector for a white one, and will detail the conversion here for anyone brave enough to try it, but please, when I say don't try this at home, I mean it, its not easy.!

Sorry for the delay in getting the photos, and guide to you, what I ended up doing is blog about it, and detail it there. You can find all the information needed on the iPhone 4 White headphone jack replacement here..

I have just swapped the black Dock Connector for a white one now too, and will put a guide together for this process, which is far easier to do that the headphone jack!

i am now selling the white parts to this conversion.....decided i preferred the black in the end. I had it converted back a few weeks after i had it done. The parts have been sitting in my cupboard for a while and i finally decided i might as well try and sell them!

any offers? PM me.
