Hurray, me week of HELL is at a rest for now. :)

Dude, the Wii isn't winning because it's the cheapest option. Even you've commented on its peripherals. Look at WiiFit and how well that has sold. I can't imagine a 360Fit or PS3Fit selling remotely as well and in terms of gaming, it's not exactly cheap for a game. The Wii's different way of gaming caught the attention of people like Operah, so it was bound to be successful.

When I view console graphics in general, I've always seen it as being lesser than the TV it outputs to and it's kind of what I've grown to expect. Video game graphics on consoles have always been more iconic than realistic. When developers take that approach, it works well, when they go the uber realistic mode, to me it always looks bleh, or like vomit. I'm personally quite happy with the Wii's output, especially when I see games like LostWinds, which to me looks awesome.

This is the kind of visuals I would love to see in a game that's going for a bit more realistic. It's still wonderfully iconic. Maybe the PS6 will come close.

You're never wrong. :p

The reason to unlock the extra content in MK, is to play with friends. It's why I did so on the DS and why I've been working slowly at doing so on the Wii. MK is all about multi-play. You're weird. ;)

Speaking of TP, I'm going to play it.

I was playing Z:TP and found another piece of heart and trainer. :) I have like 10 bugs left to find. I'm not going to finish this game until I've found EVERYTHING!

Anyways, I was playing in the living room on me UBER Wii TV and my wife turned on the halogen light behind our massive entertainment cabinet. Anyways, it freaked out the Wiimote pointer. I had to save and go back to the Wii menu. I looked under the sensorbar settings and noticed that the light was throwing out 3 extra light points. Blah. EVIL. I just can't play with the light on.

I've commented on the peripherals? Dude, the Wiimote stinks. You know I hate it. I like how you can hold a controller (wiimote + nunchuck) in two hands without having them together. Wii fit is lame and I'll never get it. I lift tons of weights and ride exercise bikes every day, and that's good enough for me. :p

There are some rather realistic games that look really nice like Crysis. However, you're right that a lot of them don't look that great. I really like anime-styled games personally. However, as technology gets better we'll see more realstic games that look really good. They probably won't be on cheap Nintendo consoles, though. :p

I'd like to play some multiplayer Mario Kart Wii. Hope to do that soon. I'm flying out next weekend to see my girlfriend and her family for a few days (bringing a ring, too!) so I'll probably take along the wii so we can play it.

I played some more TP a week ago and it was fun. I got all the stupid light bugs taken care of. It's a good game. I really like the more involved story. Still need to finish wind waker, though. I stopped playing TP when I got to... the water temple! :)

You commented early in this thread on the cost of Nintendo's peripherals, I recall the component cables in particular. :)

I figure you'll come around to the Wiimote when your TV magically shrinks by about 30 inches, or Nintendo actually realizes that a more advanced sensor-bar setting is needed.

Lifting weights is no substitute for WiiFit...

Crysis looks great and realistic, but in a blocky low-resolution version of life way, that's lacking all of those subtle nuances, like occlusion to name just one. Unless a computer can emulate life exactly, we'll always have some level of objection to it. I want Pixar reality in my games, so I figure in about 20 years. Anime style would be awesome.

By the time the new PS can do things like global illumination with color bleed on the fly, Nintendo's console will most likely have the same component. Nintendo has already gone the uber-graphic route with the N64, so what's stopping them from doing it again? :]

Multiplay on MK is fun. The more I play the game, the more I like it. I raised my score from a B to a A-. I'm going to my friend's place tonight to play it. He finally got his copy -- I didn't know they were sold out everywhere. You should propose the ring after bashing her in the head with the Wiimote, or just return the it and buy a motorcycle instead.

You're only on the Water Temple. I'm at the very end of the game and have been there for about a year now, it seems. I found another heart-container and Po spirit. I can see things much clearer on me TV-o-beast as I'm looking around, than I could on my LCD-TV or lil CRT. Waker is another game I'm at the very end. I don't like to finish things, because then it's over. :(

I misunderstood you. I took "you've commented on the peripherals" to mean "you've had good things to say about the peripherals."

Again, you go with the "Crysis looks great but lacks something" talk. That's fine, but I ask again -- how will we ever achieve all you desire when we don't push the envelope with hardware?

I'm bringing the Wii with me (and the ring) next weekend. Gonna play some MK with her and see how it is multiplayer.

I like to finish games so I can say I've finished them. Motivation plenty. :p

I just bought a Wii again (after selling mine a few months ago). I will NEVER ever sell it again! I'm a Nintendo girl :D I missed that virtual console

Oh.

Crisis looks great for a game, but that's all I'll give it. :)

They push hardware plenty on PCs. Look at it this way, a company can make more profit off the Wii with less work, then turn around and put that money into games that are all about purdy. I recall reading some place that this was Ubi Soft's EVIL plans.

MK wii with the computer can be soooo frustrating, but it's more fun than playing with just the comp. You should bring a 360 with a ring of death.

EVIL!! I live for the moment.

You love the virtual console? It's the world's biggest ripoff. Even Sony only charges $6 for most PS1 games. It's $5 for a NES game, $8 for a SNES game, and $10 for a N64 game? No thanks.

JackAxe, you think that cheaply made games should turn huge profits and those profits will go into games that are "pretty?" I think "cheaply made" translates into crap, which is all I see for the Wii the whole rest of this year. I honestly doubt I'll even turn it on this year unless the Symphonia sequel comes out. I might use it for some GC games.

Zelda on NES is BETTER than any PS-1 game. :p If Nintendo sees fit to the lower the price, I'll be more than happy with their decision, but I think they like the fact they can rape us and get away with it, just like big-oil.

Exactly, cheap is crap. UbiSoft is VOMITING games onto the Wii and using that ill-gotten profit towards their higher-budget games. I'd rather not see them profit on the Wii, if they don't care to produce anything worth while. I wish there were such thing as game production license, because some of these companies need theirs revoked.

Not turn on your Wii, you're weird, there's always a few games to be played, especially with friends. :)

I look forward to 2009. It seems like it will be the first year that the developers that care to produce something good on the Wii, will have their games ready. It really seems like most developers were hesitant of the Wii's success and this year has pretty much established it as not being a fad.

Speaking of games I want this year, this one BETTER be good.

I still have games to finish and a new programs to master, so my schedule is booked at the moment.
