Look, whatever.

I didn't create this thread to cause an argument.

It doesn't bother me if you believe me or not, I know what happened and that's all that matters to me.

I just wanted to share my story and see if anyone else on here had any problems like this.

Well, I don't see anybody else chiming in with a similar story yet, so I guess, so far, you are the only one, out of millions, this happened to.

pay no attention to the "trolls" who just want to bash anyone that says anything negative about apple.

dude that sucks. you mentioned the apple store was too far, but have you tried bestbuy, radioshack, walmart, and the at&t store?

No, I'm not posting sensitive account information. I'm not going to go out of my way to prove myself. Either you believe me or not. It doesn't matter to me.

Good call on that.

If you're ordering a 32GB, I'd certainly give AT&T a go. I got mine in less than a week.

Oh Jesus... Because EVERYBODY that ordered an iPhone posts on macrumors.

So hard to hold back derogatory comments right now... 10 more minutes of work. I can do this.

I live in a very rural area, so I actually haven't got a BestBuy near me. As for RadioShack, I had one reserved there at the start, but they never called me back with an iPhone 4 for me. They did try to sell me a 3GS, though...

And as for Walmart, no. My Walmart didn't get any.

I'm going to try AT&T online.

Good call on that.

Yeah, I'm going to go with them. What pisses me of though is that the AT&T lady told me that she hasn't seen anyone getting them in less than three to five days. But then I read a thread on here saying that the 16 GB (the one that I want/can afford) is on back order.

I'm not sure what to think anymore. I just want my old phone back. I should have never of sold it.

so is it at&t's error or apples? you would think one of them could put you on a priority list or something... if apple is god surely they can manage to get you an iphone

i'm also assuming you've talked to multiple cs reps?

Tibbers, you do realize that we can go back and read your other posts, right?

AT 6pm tonight, you told us that you were wondering what happened to your iPhone. “My iPhone order is not yet shipped, yet it's suppose to arrive today. Anyone else ever had this problem? I'm rather frustrated. I was looking forward to it.”

On July 27th, you posted, ”My order status claims that it will ship July 27th, which is today, but my order is still marked "Not yet shipped. Is it likely that my phone will ship out today as planned? I thought it has to go through PFS first?”

But tonight you say that, "Last Tuesday, (July 24th) I got an e-mail from Apple notifying me that I was no longer eligible for the iPhone 4 and my order had been put on hold."

Well, which is it? You have to keep your stories straight on MR.

I think she's either a troll or so mixed up that it's not worth discussing. What do you think?

If you want to start with the derogatory comments, don't waste everybody's time here. Just PM them to me. I will take you on. Go for it.

Yeah I'd avoid AT&T if you're going with 16GB. A friend ordered one for his girlfriend on June 27th and still hasn't gotten any word of it coming off back order.

I agree, ski2moro. I KNEW his story didn't pass the smell test. Thanks for the research.

People like this can NEVER seem to keep their stories straight. I am sure the OP will have another excuse.

It's Apples. AT&T tells them I'm eligable and they admit their their system has kinks in it and it messed up my order. It's stuck in their system and they cannot manually process it or anything.

I asked the same thing. Can't you create a new order for me and ship one to me right away? No can do. He said he would if he could. He said the demand is very high (no duh) and I informed him that although I understand that, I think it's wrong that I have to wait again.

And yes, I spoke to many. The AT&T representative actually hung up on the first one by accident, so she/I ended up explaining the situation many times.

After reading your story OP, I'm surprised to find that Apple/AT&T didn't do more to help you. You not only had to call them up to figure out what was going on, but after that you still have to wait at least an additional 3 weeks. I guess it's cool that they gave you $50. The way I see it though is they are just giving you a dollar everyday you wait, which in my mind, isn't worth it. Honestly, I think they should have managed a way to clear the payment while you were on the phone, and then get a phone shipped out to you the day after that call.

Hope you get everything figured out, best of luck man.

Edit: Sorry for some of the "senior" members on here giving you a hard time, you seem like a decent guy/gal. Good to see some people here have been on your side too though.

I'm gonna break this down.

Yes, I posted that tonight. It was before I had called them. I was told that everything was on track (like I had said) but tonight I decided to call Apple (as mentioned) to see what was up.

Yes, same for July 27th. I was still assuming that things were on track.

And yes, tonight I did say that. But as I mentioned, I was told that the system would refresh and keep checking and that eventually Apple would see that I was indeed eligible.

My story is straight. Maybe you should do some more research before you post here assuming I'm a newbie and I'm lying. I cannot believe you actually have wasted your time to go search through my posts to try to prove that you're right.

You're far from it.

But honestly, I don't care what anyone thinks. I'm just sharing my story.

I don't know that I AM wrong. The story really doesn't pass the smell test, but really, what difference does it make?

You believe him...I believe he's omitting parts of the story. Big deal.

Mean people suck.

I'm done with this thread.

Thanks to those who actually have an open mind. As for everyone else, who cares?

I just want my phone. And now I need to pick something out that's $50.

If you got an email on the 24th saying that you were ineligible, why did you wait until tonight to call them?

If you post the truth...the COMPLETE story...you don't HAVE to worry about people going back and verifying your posts against previous posts.

To anyone posting in this thread saying this is AT&T's fault, then there is either one of two problems, but maybe a little of both?

Either, 1. you guys aren't reading and understanding what the OP is saying, or 2. you are the type of person who believes Apple can do no wrong, ever. Which they can, and they do, what seems like all the time anymore.

To the OP, I'm really sorry this happened to you, especially after waiting three weeks, and expecting the phone today, must have been a huge buzzkill. I would keep calling Apple, and fighting this, until you get something done about it. Try to go up the ladder from customer rep to supervisor on the phone with Apple. If you talk to someone high up enough, you WILL get somewhere.

I had to come back, this is becoming quite funny.

I DIDN'T wait until tonight, lol. As I stated, I called AT&T and they got Apple on the line. I was told things would be fine and I waited till today to see if I got the phone. I didn't. That's why I called again tonight.

And to everyone else, thank you. It's upsetting, but Apple was becoming very persistent and finally cut me off and said that's all they could offer. I don't think I can go any higher, sadly.

No I want to see it.
In one corner, Internet tough guy with picture of bicep taken in the bathroom mirror. He's also quite the lady killer using that picture on dating sites and craiglist. The actual phone that took the picture is in the picture. This is the real deal.
And in the other corner, trapped in his cubicle with frustration and waiting for that bell to ring like it's the beginning of summer break. The righteous guy who will snap into a slimjim if you push him too far. He has beaten office printers to death with a Louisville slugger. He listens to ice cube

FIGHT!

Alright, I'm not a complainer. In fact, I'm one of those people who waited until July (July 6th, to be exact) to order my iPhone. I didn't want to deal with the confusion/uproar.

But, let me tell you, this has been my worst Apple experience ever.

I order my iPhone 4 on July 6th. It was suppose to ship the 27th and arrive the 30th (today).

Last Tuesday, I got an e-mail from Apple notifying me that I was no longer eligible for the iPhone 4 and my order had been put on hold. It stated that I should contact AT&T and see what was up and why I was no longer eligible, because when they checked, it was showing up that I wasn't.

When I called AT&T, they said that I had a bill that was issued that day, but they see that I had paid it. They stated that Apple's system probably checked right before I paid the bill. Just to make sure though, they got Apple on the line (which took forever) and made sure. The Apple representative agreed that that's what had happened and that their system would check again within 24-48 hours. Once they could see on their end that the bill had been paid (which as I said, had just been issued- it wasn't late), they would send my phone.

Long story short, they never did. Their system never checked and my phone (which was suppose to arrive today) never came. It's still marked as "Not yet shipped."

I called Apple and asked what was up, why wasn't it here. They said that their system actually only checks once, it's a new system they have setup, and it has errors. They aren't able to make it check again and I would have to cancel my order and submit a new one. It could take up to three weeks to get the phone. That's nearly fifty days total.

I hung up from them, called AT&T, and asked them to help me convey that I was eligible and the phone could be shipped. They tried (which took almost two hours), and got no where. Apple refuses to manually process the order (they claim they can't do it...) and says that I have to just cancel my order and start over.

All this over their system checking RIGHT when my bill was due. I am so frustrated.

Anyways, I had quite the fight with the Apple guy and he offered me $50 gift card and said that I should order through AT&T because it's faster.

People complain about AT&T. Each time I talk to them they're extremely nice and helpful to me. Apple, on their other hand, is rude. Their representatives need trained better and even if what he said was true, his tone and way of approaching the situation was completely wrong.

Just my opinion.

Sounds like you had the same "issues" with AT&T that you did with Apple. I can't comment on the rudeness since I wasn't listening to the exchange.

If what you say is accurate about it being "an issue only a few people have had happen to them", it isn't exactly accurate to say that Apple was all that out of line. Kinks in systems happen, especially when those systems are new. Is it annoying? Yes, absolutely. Does it make Apple negligent? Not really.

Apple employees (like any other employees) are given orders to follow what the screen says. Most of the time the system rejects someone for something it is accurately doing so. (which you verified yourself by stating it was a freak event). This is true with credit checks for CC applications, criminal background checks, etc.. To depict the incident as being misguided takes investigation, and more so than that, time. This of course is at the customers expense. It's annoying as I said, but just the way it has to happen.

The fact you were given a $50 gift card is amazing. After dealing with Apple just recently over requested compensation I was told by a super that gift cards were the one item they "just cannot give out". What more can you ask for?

Kinks are evidenced by people. You happened to be the person this time.

Hope this gives you another perspective, thats all.

I'm gonna actually agree with you.

I agree, it's not the staff's fault. They are pressured and they have to say certain things. I said multiple times on the phone that I know it's not THEIR fault, but it is THEIR companies fault.

Either way, they came across rude to me. But it could just be because I was upset/mad.

$50 may be amazing, but I just want my phone. I don't want the money, honestly.

LOL. The troll-like legend feels that it's necessary to stand up to all newbies like me. He can't even come up with a good comeback besides "Cool STORY, bro!"

What a little Apple fan boi.

I may like Apple, but I have no problem admitting when they make mistakes.

A "STORY" is what it is...and not a complete story.

Fair enough. I'm sure there may haver been a combination of both possibilities. I also say that there are 3 sides to each situation. Your side, my side, and what actually happened :)

I'm sure your frustrated. The excitement will be magnified surely. Whatcha going to do with that $50 :)

Good points. I agree.

And I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Well depending on what :apple: gear you already own of course, you could gift it (you did say you don't really need/want it), put it toward Mobile Me, AppleCare, some apps, or the new track pad.
