I don't know that I AM wrong. The story really doesn't pass the smell test, but really, what difference does it make?

You believe him...I believe he's omitting parts of the story. Big deal.

it's one thing not to believe him. But it's a big deal when you start attacking him like he just groped your girlfriend at a bar. You're insisting that he has a overdue balance and he is flat out telling you he did not.

Is it really hard for you to believe that a large company, processing millions of orders, and relying on the communication from a third party company in order for it to process correctly, might have a few glitches from time to time? especially if it was a new "system" as they say. I mean we have all gotten the "it's a new system" line from a customer service rep. that is totally believable.

If you have never experienced the proverbial "perfect storm" when dealing with these things you have not dealt with life yet.

you really showed your A$$ on this one and I think you owe the OP an apology.

Well depending on what :apple: gear you already own of course, you could gift it (you did say you don't really need/want it), put it toward Mobile Me, AppleCare, some apps, or the new track pad.

You can buy a lot of apps/movies/music with $50 as well.

Well, I don't mind having it. I'm just saying that I would rather just have the phone than that...

I'm not sure about Mobile Me, but the guy said that I can't use it towards my iPhone, AppleCare, or the iTunes store. I guess it's a gift card but it's restricted some how. He said he would place a note on my order (that's no longer any good) and whenever I buy whatever, I should wait about twenty-four hours for the order to get into the database and then call them and direct them to that order.

I shouldn't of used the terms "gift card", I guess it's more of an account credit?

I see. If your not sure about MobileMe, I can say my experience has been pleasant. The gallery is a wonderful way to organize your pics, iDisk is handy in many ways, and if you *gasp* lose you iPhone, it's accuracy in locating it is remarkable. You can however pick it up on ebay for less than $50 most days.

There's always the never ending amount of software too..

Sorry about that, just noticed. :)

Personally, I also get a lot of use out of airport expresses. Setting up speakers in multiple rooms and using AirTunes is great! I would strongly consider that OP.

I never thought of that. Thanks for the idea! :)

MobileMe looks pretty neat, I've gotta admit. I like this too: http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1453ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA2Ng&mco=MTc5NzIzMzQ

The bag looks durable, however outrageously priced. The one thing about MobileMe is that if you sign up and use it for the year you receive, you are almost assuming yourself with it forever. That being said, its well worth the less than $10 dollar a month commitment. Like I said, don't use your Apple cash with it, but DO get it on ebay.

People say the bag is really nice. I like the other ones they make, too. It does seem a bit pricey, though.

And yeah, I'll have to check it out.

Is this Magic Trackpad really that great? I'm not sure if I understand the whole concept of it...

I just picked up on this thread or I might have been able to offer you a little support against the apple bullies. I had almost exactly the same thing happen to me over an order I placed back in June. I placed two orders on the same day for two different lines. One shipped and one was mysteriously cancelled. Apple said it was cancelled by AT&T in the verification process and T said that they were never contacted for verification. In the end my only option was to place a replacement order and neither A or T did anything for us. The final shipment was over a month later than it should have been and they sent it the slowest way possible. Very frustrating. And the worst part of the whole process was after the Apple rep said that the order would qualify for expedited shipping (at least right?) and then the Apple support site denied the expedited shipping by saying that was only for orders that were cancelled for no reason. Not that they could point out any reason mind you. I then made 2 more phone calls in which the person on the phone would listen to the story, verify it in the notes on my account, apologize profusely and promise to fix it - only to have the support site send me another email denying the expedited shipping because that was only for people who had my exact problem. I gave up - as they knew anyone would - as it was only going to matter by a couple of days. Even sadder? They wouldn't even let me pay for expedited shipping.
There were a lot of people this happened to in the early part of the iphone 4 process so don't feel too alone in spite of what the site bullies might tell you about how perfect the apple ordering process is. They have a whole system set up to handle the problem because the verification system is so error prone. Their system is contacting T's system over the net to verify that the orders are legit. The apple server times out waiting for T to respond and the default is that the order does not ship. In the early days it just got cancelled altogether. So what does Apple care? They are selling them as fast as they can make them anyway.

Wow, I didn't know that many people had this problem. The rep. used the words "few", but why WOULD they admit that this is common?

Thanks for sharing! It's good/sad to know that other people have experienced this too.

I'm within driving distance, but I haven't got a car of my own to use to get there. It's an hour and a half away.

And I'm sorry, but I'm not posting my zip code after he's invaded my thread. I live in a rural area (as stated previously). Apple stores aren't close to everyone.

So you say you "pay your Bills on time" but you dont have a car? tell me you atleast use public Trans?

I'm on a plan with my family, actually. So it's not too bad.

And rural areas haven't got public transit, lol.
