The more accurate question is: Does Apple produce any bad shows? And the answer to that is: Yes, they put out 3 stinkers in Amazing Stories,
I liked the first episode of Amazing Stories. I will give it some more time. How many of the episodes did you watch? Anthology shows are always hard.
Truth be Told, and Little Voice. Other than that, nope.
Have not yet watched either, but I love Octavia Spencer, so I will probably try Truth be Told for at least a few episodes. :)

I got through 3 episodes of truth be told and couldn’t take it anymore. All the other characters were constantly in awe of how wonderful her character is, but we never see any reason to admire her. I felt like the problem must be me, otherwise I would have stopped after the first episode.

started off incredibly skeptical
That was my reaction to both it and See, and I was surprised by how much I have liked both. It was even more true for Ted Lasso, which just seemed like the dumbest idea and was one of the best shows I have ever seen.

Looking forward to more new shows.

I’m weirdly stoked about Schmigadoon!

Quotes should also be around the word "comedy." As someone who works in the game industry, I found a lot of the show incredibly unfunny. I imagine this is how cops feel about cop shows.
That is interesting and I can understand that. It does differ from what I have heard from most of my other industry friends who all really like it. From my experience (more on the story side of games - working with licensed film TV properties), it seems spot on. What do you dislike about it, or is it just too close to work (not in portrayal, just in subject) to be fun for you?

I watched all of them (Amazing Stories, all episodes, and Truth be Told, all episodes) - the first episode was good, the last episode was good. In between, it didn't feel special. Just a knock off Twilight Zone clone. Compared to the greatness of Apple's other shows it just didn't hit for me. There were a ton of filming and production issues with rotating show writers, etc., so I'm personally not surprised by that.

Truth be Told, I went into with high flying hopes as I'm a true crime junkie and I love mysteries (Home Before Dark and Defending Jacob are in my top 5 list of Apple TV+), so to come out so incredibly disappointed stung for me. The writing was really bad and corny and there was too much explaining to the camera for my taste.

I also watched See and loved that show, but I really couldn't stand Truth be Told.

Tehran is a pretty great thriller so far. See is great as is For All Mankind and both are science fiction. What do you think they have made that is an action or science fiction that was not good? Really looking forward to Foundation and hope it is well done.
See takes place in a primitive jungle. That’s not science.

“For all mankind” is it a drama about 50's housewives or intrepid Astronauts? Can’t tell.

foundation is the only thing I would consider sci-fi, and that’s the only thing coming out, in the fall…

Try watching For All Mankind and then tell me it's not sci-fi. They rewrite the entire space race timeline and there are massive differences. Complete science fiction at its finest.

You may not like See, but it is clearly science fiction. From Wikipedia:

Apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction is a subgenre of science fiction, science fantasy, dystopia or horror in which the Earth's civilization is collapsing or has collapsed.

“For all mankind” is it a drama about 50's housewives or intrepid Astronauts? Can’t tell.
Again, you may not like it, but given that it covers the space program including manned moon bases and the technology to make it work, it is hard to argue that it is not science fiction.

I’m a former games developer and I love the show so please don’t try to speak for the industry.

I have to wonder the average age of everyone who thinks this show is great? We watched a couple episodes when it came out and it was NOT FUNNY at all. We're not young, not gamers or developers, so the "jokes" just didn't hit with us. A big PASS!
I’m in my 30s. The show satirizes much of what is wrong with both the tech (and particularly video game) industry, and its audience/customer base.

I cannot tell you the average age, but I can tell you that I am 56 and I think it is really funny.

You mean you did not find it funny, as opposed to it was not funny. I am sure there are many others like you who did not get the humor. I also know many others who thought it was great.

Several of my friends who like it are also over 50 and not gamers/tech industry people, so those are not requirements for enjoying it.

Ok, how about this. They both suck.

For me, what makes this show so good is the fantastic character development. Poking fun at everyone, job roles and the industry. Anyone who has worked in a creative environment will get it.

Got it. You do not like them. Thanks for sharing your opinion with such a detailed explanation as to what you do not like about them. Just out of curiosity, what Science Fiction shows do you like (on any service, current or past)?
Amazon Prime’s “The Expanse” is an excellent Sci-Fi. That’s true sci-fi.

Netflix has great shows like Black Mirror.

HBO has Rasied by Wolves, which was just great.

Disney has Star Wars and Marvel.

Raised by Wolves was horrible and not half the show that See was.

Black Mirror was great in the past, but the most recent season stunk.

For All Mankind far far far outclasses The Expanse (and the aforementioned horrible Raised by Wolves)

Marvel sci-fi? Lolol. Star Wars? Sure. I’ll allow it.

The Expanse is definitely science fiction. My B/F really likes it, I have not been able to get into it, but I am still watching.

I am generally not that interested in Black Mirror, as it often feels like it is dark just to be dark.
HBO has Rasied by Wolves, which was just great.
Looks interesting. Love Ridley Scott, so I will check that out.
Disney has Star Wars
The middle trilogy is good (although the current version has the ****** Lucas ret-con) and The Mandolorian is fun but not amazing to me. Everything else in that universe that I have seen has been terrible.
and Marvel.
I am watching Wanda Vision, but none of that is science fiction (and most of the Marvel universe is annoying).

I personally find See much more compelling than anything in the Star Wars universe outside the middle trilogy.

The expanse is the best space series I have ever watched. One takes place in the future, has aliens, spaceships, different worlds, and your comparing to a 1950’s housewife drama? Lolol.

and Raised by Wolves, some of Ridley Scott’s work, is far better than “See”. Lol.

If you really think FAM is a 50's housewife drama at base, than that tells me you watched 2 episodes and shut the show off.

Raised by Wolves. LOLOL. That series is laughable at best. Ridley Scott is not perfect - he puts out horrible shows from time to time.

Episode 5 was brilliant, but what they did with that Quarantine special deserves all the awards.
1. With the exception of the prop master, it was shot entirely by the cast on iphones
2. It was emotionally accurate and captured lockdown perfectly for someone who lives for work who has a healthy/unhealthy friendship with the one other person at work who lives the same way.
3. The writers didn't shy away from plot changing character development that will resonate. I am sure they were going to Moonlight the second season with a will they/won't they between Ian and Poppy - but the Quarantine episode really took a risk and defined that relationship as a friendship powerful and real. That whole walking to Poppy's house and the hug after her cry for help and his blatantly unspoken cry for help was tear inducing in this house.
4. The last line was heartfelt cathartic overjoyous in a time of uncertainty. Not sure if that was planned, if it was adlibbed, edited for effect or what - but it's perfect.

It absolutely should be a time capsule of how a show took on the pandemic and made it work from a storytelling and execution point of view.

You're not the only one. Ruins the show for me for those very reasons. Made it 2-3 episodes in and haven't really been too excited to continue. Ted Lasso on the other hand, binged that in about 2 weeks time which is impressive considering my schedule.
The final episode of mythic Quest, called quarantine edition, is pretty damn good. And I think Poppy is fairly neutral in that one. But there’s some visual inventiveness you won’t want to mess. Worth watching.
