Episode 5 was brilliant, but what they did with that Quarantine special deserves all the awards.
1. With the exception of the prop master, it was shot entirely by the cast on iphones
2. It was emotionally accurate and captured lockdown perfectly for someone who lives for work who has a healthy/unhealthy friendship with the one other person at work who lives the same way.
3. The writers didn't shy away from plot changing character development that will resonate. I am sure they were going to Moonlight the second season with a will they/won't they between Ian and Poppy - but the Quarantine episode really took a risk and defined that relationship as a friendship powerful and real. That whole walking to Poppy's house and the hug after her cry for help and his blatantly unspoken cry for help was tear inducing in this house.
4. The last line was heartfelt cathartic overjoyous in a time of uncertainty. Not sure if that was planned, if it was adlibbed, edited for effect or what - but it's perfect.

It absolutely should be a time capsule of how a show took on the pandemic and made it work from a storytelling and execution point of view.
Yes, yes, and yes. Great write up. I don’t know how this episode of the show doesn’t win Emmys and critics choice awards. It’s truly one for the ages.

The final episode of mythic Quest, called quarantine edition, is pretty damn good. And I think Poppy is fairly neutral in that one. But there’s some visual inventiveness you won’t want to mess. Worth watching.
I’ll give it another try. Need to spend more time on the treadmill so why not. 😉
