lol my gf just walked passed as i was reading the last few posts and said 'wth do u guys do on this forum? just tell each other about using ur apple stuff naked? no wonder u spend so much time looking at it!' then walked off shaking her head and laughing

Generally, I avoid case/protectors etc like the plague on phones, ipods, everything - personally, I think the use of them seriously degrades the experience. I've seen people with invisible shields on the *base* of their laptops, which utterly mystifies me. Yes, you could argue higher resale price, but I'm sure I've sold used, un-shielded lappy's for the same price :)

The iPad is the one exception, not really for protection but I just find it a lot more practical in the Apple case. If the iPad was somehow clamshell in design, ala the aborted MS Courier, I'd ditch the case.

Speck Candyshell

Does anyone use the speck candy shell case? It looks pretty solid. I have an invisashield on the front and an invade silicon cover for the back. It is just seems to flimsy.

I sold all of my cases after I installed my zagg invisashield and I like the naked feel of just the invisashield better than all the switcheasy cases I bought, all 5 of them.

Naked for reading in bed, Yoobao leather case when at work (hospital) or Otterbox Defender when out and about. I find the Defender actually marks the back of the iPad.

So in summary, naked when naked, dressed when dressed!

I do love the way the iPad looks naked, but i am a stickler for scratches so i use the Belkin Leather Folio, Best 50 bucks i ever spent

Otterbox Defender for me. Some people have had issues with the fit being too tight and having to mod the case a bit so it doesnt press on the screen so hard. The fit on mine is tight and I had to tap a little to side it in, but no screen issues. I love the industrial look and the protection is second to none.

i hardly ever use a case on my ipad anymore. it's too pretty to cover up. i just throw it in my bag. i'm usually not too worried about a few scratches on the back.

I went naked for a few months but then tried the Apple case and found it to be very nice for grip, basic protection and a stand. Once I've used it, tough to go back. I wasted a few bucks on screen protectors on my 3G iPhone but will never bother with any type of "zagg" crap again, what a joke those are. Too bad Apple can't make a nice back that had a bit of grip to it.

When I first got the iPad i went and bought the apple case with it. But i was on a roadtrip in the usa (we dont have the ipad in sweden yet..) at the time, and i used the case and ofcourse the ipad a lot under that time, in the car,in hotells and what not, even the flight home.. Anyways, when i got home, it was a lot of defferent marks on the case, and it looked horrible, so i dont use it anymore (i cannot even make the marks go away...tips?.) its like dirt or something? Hm. Anyways. I use my ipad naked atm. But i also bought the pink sleeve case from incase phew! Wich i always put my ipad in,when i dont use it anymore! So i couldnt just have my paddy laying around naked all the time..lol

I used to keep mine in an Apple case all the time. I like it because its thin and keeps the screen protected when I'm carrying it around.

Recently I got a WedgePad stand that I use at home. It's like a little beanbag that attaches to the back of you iPad and holds it upright while sitting on your lap, or on a sofa or bed. Sounds goofy, but it's so nice not having to hold it constantly or having to prop it up. All the other stands work nicely on a table, but the iPad was meant to be held, otherwise I'd use my laptop.

So even if you use your iPad naked, I'd still recommend checking out a wedgepad (http://wedgepad.com). It just makes using the iPad so much easier.

I have an sgp ultra crystal screen protector on my iPad which I keep in a tuffluv biaxis case most of the time. However when I use it I often take it out of the case as I prefer less bulk while using and I know that I'll not be moving around that much.

I certainly agree the iPad looks great naked. However for me, it is just too slippery to handle naked on a regular basis. When at home I carry my iPad all around the house and outside. I also take use it for most everything when traveling. I need a case with a good grip and the propping stand for comfortable typing and viewing when hanging back in the recliner, for use as a GPS and reader when traveling. My grandkids also have their favorite apps that they play with. I have a Power Support crystal screen protector (put on after seeing light scratches at 3 months of use). I tried so many cases that I've lost track and now go back and forth between the Yoobao slim cases in black and brown.

I use my iPad naked. Being that I don't use it the same way as the iPhone. The phone is always at risk for scratches or a drop whereas the iPad is usually on my lap. I keep it in a zip sleeve when I'm not using it. I got a great sleeve at Urban Outfitters for $10 on sale. It's recycled material. Econation.

My iPad is always in my speck candyshell. It's offers great protection, it adds some bulk, but it protects the iPad, and im not afraid to put it down anymore, because i used to always be afraid it would scratch. And when I'm not using it, my iPad is in my incase sleeve.

I alternate between an inCase sleeve and the Apple case.

I lean towards the Apple case because I carry the iPad in a semi-rigid netbook case to carry the iPad as well as accessories (earbuds, charger, Verizon mifi, etc) and the Apple case fits in the netbook case a little better than the incase sleeve.

I am thinking about either getting a screen protector and/or a Otterbox but I haven't decided as of yet...

I like the iPad naked but I also like that in the Apple case because it is a little more discrete out in public. I have seen very few iPads around my community...

I had the apple case but hated how dirty it got, so I bought a case off of amazon - acts like a book. holds ipad and has a flap that comes over and sits on the screen

just the other day i took it out to clean it and remembered how nice it was without the case

i decided to by an incase sleeve (same as my mbp) and keep it naked during use.

its too nice not to

I used the iPad "naked" two month ago, when I purchased the Apple Case.
I agree that the iPad is so much better without any case or protection, but the Apple Case is a good way to carry it on the go and writing in landscape mode.

I use the Otterbox Defender. Pretty much use that on every piece of tech I own that they make a case for :)

I'm careful, but others may not.

So, I use my iPad inside the Apple iPad Case at all times.
It protects the display, and also the rest of it from scratches and blemishes.
I know it looks much better naked, but it's also more slippery without a case.
