I first bought a apple case, but decided I liked it naked too, so I bought a invisible shield.

I've been using the apple case for a few months and today decided to go naked... I feel like I have a brand new piece of gear. Love it. Will put the case back on if I leave the house with it, though.

I use the Apple case, not for protection - everything I own usually goes naked, iphones included- but for functionality. I tried it naked and found it a far less useful device.

I agree the device looks better naked but I live too close to the sand and have half a Laotian village using my iPad. If you live in a city and don't typically ever get your hands dirty then naked might work.

If many people handle your iPad in situations especially if you live near sand then naked is a terrible option. I think apple could make iPods and such that would be better suited to travelers as that is a huge market for the iPod.

"introducing the iPod Green. Suddenly the ***** you have won't break."

That being said Apple was in the right direction with the unibody MacBooks. I just hope the next iPad isn't double sided glass like iPhone 4 if I have children around using it often. They need to make things tougher or add a line of products for people outside of SF or NYC.

I agree with this response. I like the Apple case because of the different positions that it helps me put the iPad in. It puts it at a nice angle for typing when used at a desk, and it also props it up to watch videos. Also it makes it look a little more discrete when carrying it around. I don't want to advertise that I'm carrying an iPad all the time, and it makes it look more like just a (paper) notebook.
That being said in some places I take it out of the case because it is more comfortable to use it without one sometimes.

The bumper covers up the majority of the iPhone 4's design.

While I agree - it is not as bad as putting a full case on it and my reasoning for the bumper is it is nicer to hold with a little grip. I would leave it naked but the metal sides are uncomfortable in my opinion.

I did leave my 3G totally naked.

I typically use mine case-less. If I am taking it somewhere I either use the cheap nylon sleeve that I got for free at Best Buy or the Apple case. I usually use the sleeve if I am putting it in another bag and the Apple case when I am carrying it a la carte.

I use an Otterbox Commuter - whilst I do miss the aesthetics of not using a case, I am very precious about my gadgets and absolutely can't stand dings & scratches. I'm glad I did go for the Otterbox - I use my iPad every day and take it on the road to uni for study... it gets handled a lot. I checked the case and screen protector the other day and noticed all sorts of dings and scrapes - all of which would have scarred it otherwise. I know it's personal preference and all, but after spending the money on it I'd be gutted to have it bruised. I made the mistake of not using a very good case for my old 3GS and it got punished pretty quickly. Now my iP4 has an Otterbox Defender and it's fantastic to remove it from the case every once in a while to see the iP4 as shiny as it was on launch day. I guess I may be being too precious, but it gives me joy to keep my stuff pristine, so that to me is a greater pleasure than using it ever day and after a while watching it get battered by my own carelessness.

Plus, everyone wants to play with an iPad - it's like pass the bleedin' parcel at times and not everyone understands how or cares to look after stuff, so a good case puts my mind at rest.

Each to their own I guess!

id like to use my ipad naked but I basically always have it in the typing position in the ipad case so typing would be a pain for me now without the case. plus it went in the case the day I bought it so its in perfect condition.

I've always had the iPad in a case when I bought it. Acase folio, bamboo slider, otterbox commuter and now a bookbook by TwelveSouth. However, lately I've been using the iPad out of the case and use the bookbook for transport.

Mine is naked but I think I'm going to get a case, I think I'd have a mini heart attack if I dinged it or dropped it.

I used to use the apple case. Now naked. I would use a sleeve and the invisible shield for back and sides. But I'll just wait until the second iPad now.

I've been using mine naked since I got it two weeks ago and to be honest I'm counting down the days to when my case is expected to arrive in the post...

I love the feel of it... that isn't the problem, I want the case primarily so I can angle the display easily without holding it... better for watching video/surfing the web that way. And I don't want to be nervous about it getting damaged when I'm out & about (am currently using bubble wrap and a scarf as protection ;) )

I have Ghost armor on my iPad and I use apple's case.

My wife has an incase model, and I agree with the OP, on his concerns about bulkiness. It makes the iPad a bit awkward when using it.

Getting the ghost armor is a no brainer for me, as it will protect the unit, especially when you have kids using it, as I do ;)

i was checking "iPad Accessories" section and i saw alot of post about screen protectors and iPad case questions..

I'm useing my iPad with no case because i don't like extra thickness and it looks way better without it. So i'm just wondering how many of you guy use you iPad just like that without using any iPad case.

Thanks
No case and no other protectors of any kind. I look after my stuff and it looks as-new, no marks on it whatsoever. Plus, it looks crap otherwise. When I'm out and about it's inside a protective bag anyway. Too many people buy accessories "just because they can", but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Rather melodramatic, no? So, without a case it is far less useful?! LMAO!
