Get phone insurance and go naked it's the only way :D

I've dropped my phone twice but no cracks or breakage just a few minor scratches on the midframe!

Yeah I just signed up for a SquareTrade iPhone warranty. Lol officially going naked with peace of mind :D

Can someone who swears by "naked", dropped and broke their phone please speak up?

just be careful.

i was naked with the 2G, 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 (up until a week ago). i bought a defaultcase and i love the case. i don't care if it protects my phone or not.

never once broke it and i did drop my 3G/3GS a few times.

Seems like it. The back of my iPhone 4 has a few scratches, one being pretty deep and my camera lens is also pretty scratched up. With that said, I do use my iPhone 4 naked 90% of the time, I have an Apple Bumper which I use occasionally.

Where on the back are the majority of the scratches? Mainly on the edges or all over the center area?

I kept my 3g in an incase slider with a power support anti-glare screen protector for it's whole life and didn't drop it once. Now that I've got a 4 i'm naked and only have a few faint scratches on the back.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone : Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_6 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8E200 Safari/6533.18.5)

Cheap air case from Monoprice for me. When I said cheap, I literally mean it, $1! :)

I have an awesome screen protector for both glass panels. Other than that, all day naked!
:apple:

+1
Power Support or SGP does the best job at keeping your phone scratch-free while not having the orange peel effect in crappy screen protectors like ZAGG and sometimes Wrapsol.
NUDE FTW
If you're going to get a screen protector, get the stiff, dry install ones. They have the best quality.

I don't (yet) own an iPhone but I've owned my fair share of expensive BlackBerrys. I love naked phones always, but I do use sleeves. I find them to be an excellent mode of protection when not in use while allowing nudity during use. so when it's in my pocket, or bag, or left on my bed/desk etc., i know it's well protected (and mostly protected if it were to slip out of my bag or pocket, though see below).

That being said, my Torch fell out of my pocket with a sleeve on and landed on the one angle that wasn't fully protecting, denting it badly... so, /shrug, you sometimes just can't be prepared.

I swore by naked UNTIL I dropped my phone and it shattered (on ceramic tile:() Since I've gotten it replaced, I'm scared to take it out of the case, and it's in a case 24/7.

My husband still goes "naked" with his iP4 and brags about how much he has dropped his phone and it's never broken.

As far as scratches, the diamond on my wedding ring scratched the back of mine. At least it was the one that got shattered...

I'm kinda naked...I use Wrapsol Ultra screen protectors on the back and sides, and a Power Support anti glare protector on the front. Almost as good as being naked without the bulk of a case.

I've been using mine naked since launch. I've got a few microscratches on the front and back, and one actual scratch in the front. The scratch isn't really noticable when the screen is on though, so it doesn't bother me. When it's time for resale, I may attempt to warranty exchange it, especially if the latest firmware and baseband is jailbreakable and unlockable by then. (I wouldn't be defrauding apple - the phone does have an issue where the touchscreen is basically useless while charging the phone. It just hasn't bothered me enough to give up the jailbreak and unlock. It's still a valid reason to exchange though IMO)

Bikini'd

Front and back screen protectors and Lucky Labs decals for the stainless steel band.

Yeah, couldn't have anything to do with the jailbreak...

Considering it's a hardware issue, no, it can't have anything to do with the jailbreak. Seems like there's a bad ground somewhere in the phone. Touchscreen won't work properly while charging unless I ground myself to the phone by having a firm grip on the metal band - Which of course causes the signal to completely drop. Software alone cannot cause a grounding issue.

Used to have cases on it, but the last month or so I've just used it completely naked. Dropped it a couple of times on its back and luckily it didn't shatter. Just too nice to use a case with it!

naked.

i'm also on my 4th iPhone due to accidents. besides, unlike most other manufacturers that require you to replace the device at your cost, Apple charges only $200 for an Out Of Warranty replacement.
