Tried lots of cases and keep going back to the Bumper. I'd prefer to go naked but find it so slippery without a bumper I think I may end up dropping it.

The bumpers sole purpose is to eliminate contact with outer antenna and offers absolutely no damage or fall protection what so ever.

For grip, go bumper. For everything else, go naked.

Neither way feels all that comfortable to hold, so I got myself a real case that protects the back. One less side of fingerprints to clean away.

I suggest to throw the bumper aside. I liked it at first until after six weeks of use. The edges are too sharp and can dig into your palms. It will damage your phone more than it protects it when you check the side. Go extreme. Either naked or a real case. Bumper is half-ass. Everything depends on how comfortable YOU feel about it. Nobody can make the final decision but you.

Mine was wearing an inCase Slider within less than a half-hour after I bought it - left the Apple store and went straight to Best Buy for the case. I like the feel/grip better with a case than naked, and I'm not out to impress anybody with the way my phone looks. The inCase Slider is grippy enough to make the phone easier to hold on to, but not so sticky that it makes it difficult to pull out of my pocket (like some of the silicone skins).

with or without a screen protector ??

I just bought my IP4 yesterday, so I still don't have a case/bumper. I ordered the clear snap case from incase through the case program. All I can say is that the IP4 looks truly amazing without the case. Seeing the metallic sides is always a plus :p

I got that case. I must say that it's ok but does attract a lot of dust so you will need to take your phone out and clean it regularly (=

I'm using the bumper for the added grip it gives and not for any drop protection. Trying to minimise the chances of it slipping out of my hand or pocket.

This has probably been discussed on here many times. So let's do it again please. I have my bumper on at the moment, but it looks so ugly. I want my phone to be naked and free but I'm worried about it getting damaged. What's everyone else doing?

Cheers NorthernMan

Take that bumper and throw it in a bin! It will damage your phone more than it would protect it. I'd suggest you get an icolor wrap with front and back screen protectors then slap on any case. That way you wouldn't have to worry about your phone getting scratched while it's in the case. Thank you, come again (=

Anyone that goes without a case or anything on an iphone is a complete moron and shouldn't own one.

Personally, I hate the bumper cases. They're pointless, and the only thing they really do is protect the sides, which don't even need much protection to begin with. So, if the bumper is your only option, they I say go naked.

I have 2 InCase cases, one slider and one snap, and right now I'm using the regular snap case. It's pretty nice and doesn't add any bulkiness to the phone. I recommend getting this one, if you're planning on getting any at all.

Without. I used a screen protector on my 3G for a long time, but didn't really like it, so I'm not using one on my 4.

how is it without .. the antiglare i have on it sucks and the screen kinda looks crappy but im nervous to run without one

always go naked.. when scratched, put on case

I wouldn't go as far as calling someone a moron, foolish maybe but you are correct anyway. There are countless threads about many crying about scratches, crack/shattered screens and cracked/shattered backs that would have been avoided with a screen protector or case. Using a screen protector or case isn't a guarantee that you wont get damage but it greatly reduces the possibility. Going "naked" is a personal choice and one can do whatever that want with a device they own BUT IMO it's simply not work the risk.

+1 I work in a pretty fast pace profession, and sometimes have to run on 1-2 hours of sleep

there have been times where lack of sleep made me forget I had my phone in my front pocket when bending over to get something = thankfully the bumper kept the phone in my pocket

Not everyone like yourself is so anal, and requires a skin and a case. The bumper works fine for drop protection, anyone worried about tiny scratches caused from using a case needs to get laid.

I can't rock the Bumper because it's not compatible with 3rd party accessories so my i4 is naked. I've noticed about 2 or 3 today doing the same thing as well. It's ONLY a phone :D

I've been naked and I've had my iPhone for about a month now. It's still pretty clean. I am using a Waterfield Designs sleeve. I like it because the material cleans my phone of fingerprints and dirt and dust whenever I pull it in and out of the sleeve.

The "newness" of mine finally wore off a few days ago and I ditched my iFrogz Luxe (purchased when I bought my phone) to go naked as I had done with all 3 previous gens. Much to my dismay I found that I indeed have the dreaded antennae issues, losing 2-3 bars by simply gripping the phone normally. So are those who are running naked saying you have no attenuation issues whatsoever?

I've always ran naked and this most stunning gen iPhone makes me want to continue to do so but I'm finding out the antennae issue is very much for real. Should I/can I return it and keep trying until I possibly get one that does not have this issue or at least a lesser version of the issue (still less than 30 days old)?

Now that I'm experiencing what all the hype was about first hand, it really does piss me off. I've spent tens of thousands of dollars on :apple: in just the last few years; can't imagine how much over my total Apple lifetime experience. I expect more. I deserve more. We all do.

PS - For what it's worth I've dropped and cracked all 3 previous gen iPhones due to going naked. :(

The only time I have any attenuation is when I cover the bottom left slit on the band. Just gripping it normally does not do anything to my signal.

It's fine without one. I'm not anal about my iPhone, but I know enough to not throw it in my pocket with keys, etc., or lay it face down on dirty/rough surfaces, so it holds up fine. I had the screen protector on my 3G for a long time, but got tired of it and finally took it off. Never had any issues with scratch or wear on the screen after I removed it. I think the screen protector makes the screen look worse, and I don't like the feel of it.
