Naked or bumper??

New iPhone 4 cracked screen

Hi I just got iPhone 4 32g n it's my 1st iPhone but my daughter's had around 7(she lost em, broke, upgraded etc) Well the Apple store had no cases or bumpers at all for iPhone 4. I ordered as suggested from App store a bumper n was given shipping arrival time of 3 to 5 weeks. I went n got clear case in meantime that has been on it ever since. The phone accidentally fell out of a bag not even 1 foot off ground n screen cracked. The upper right front corner actually shattered a little. When I examined it a shard of glass got stuck in my thumb n I keep getting cut if finger goes over it. What are my options? Thanx!!

Take it to the Apple store and they may or may not charge you $200 to replace it. I was rockin mine naked, but now I'm rockin the Otterbox Defender. I'm clumsy at times especially when intoxicated and plus my kids are clumsy at times & they play with my phone. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I need the bumper - just not enough grip otherwise.

My only issue with the bumper is that little pieces of the rubber are starting to come off. I'm very particular about how I treat it and it's been less than three months since I bought it, so I'm a little surprised that it's wearing so easily just from going in and out of my pocket.

I would prefer to have nothing on my IP4 just like I had my 2G. I only used a screen protector for a couple of weeks and tried out a few cases at the very beginning but did not like any. However I think I'm going to go for a full body skin protection this time around for a few reasons:

- 2G did not have any coating on the screen and was very scratch resistant. I have no scratches, not even surface scratches on my 2G's screen. It seems the new screen now picks up surface scratches more easily with the coating.

- Back is glass and seems to scratch easily and get fingerprints.

- Back also seems like it cracks easily compared to aluminum which would only dent at the most. I have no dent's on my 2G.

I just can't decide which shield to buy. Also the Incipio NGP Smoke is one of he very few and I mean very few cases that I actually like. Thinking about that one.

This is a beautiful phone which should be shown in all it's glory. When I'm at work and I know I will have it in my lab coat or pants pocket, it stays in a clear case. At work, this thing comes in and out of my pocket constantly. Gotta protect it.

Outside of work, it stays naked. It doesn't come out of my pocket too often.

To the gentleman whose screen cracked:
Wow, I feel bad for you. I hope I never drop my phone and crack the screen. But I'm sure I'll drop this phone eventually like all the other ones I've had. Looks like Apple went for design instead of functionality. I'm sure they've been able to easily break the iPhone when dropping it from various heights. Let's see what kind of design they can come up with now that they've purchased that company with "liquid metal" technology. This dual-glass design will probably be short lived if too many people break their phones.

I hope they don't use this design for the next generation iPad.
