Lack of Aqua UI, "orb" icon, slow speeds, freezes during sync, bloated sizes, slow scrolling, poor management.

How it handles iPods sometimes, like iTunes is asking me to delete everything to sync?!

You're doing it wrong. Having the "Manually manage music and video" box and 'Enable disk use" ticked on the itunes ipod screen avoids that.

I dislike how itunes lumps different libraries in the same media folder. I've gone back to using separate user accounts for my AAC and Lossless libraries.
In case you have no idea what i am talking about;

Now that they've added downsampling on the fly, I'd like to see a range of bitrates rather than the sole 128AAC option. I'd also like to see Gracenote support more genres.

Apart from that, not much else; I only use iTunes for playing ripped music, never buy anything from iTMS.

THIS!

I've had duplicate files in my library for the last 4 or 5 years - lossless and 256VBR mp3. It's a real pain keeping the ratings up to date, and of course I don't get my iPhone play-counts adding to my lossless files.

128AAC really is borderline sound quality and I won't use it. Even if they supported 160AAC I'd probably give it a go (over 200 would be best).

For now, why don't you use Doug's Lossless to AAC workflow? I've just got lossless files on the iPod at the mo, managed with some playlists. Can still get about 230-250 albums onto the old 80Gb 4G which is enough for the rare moments that I use the iPod these days.

I do clever things with smart playlists and comments... so I've got 'round a lot of the problems. I prefer mp3 for higher - I use Max and the LAME encoder. I mostly listen to music on the move to be honest - and then it's on my iPhone. Can't be bothered carrying an extra device (although I still have an 80Gb 4G).

Its slow and this:

Should be cocoa not carbon. Vertical buttons.

Remove all video functions from iTunes. Add store elements for video from iTunes to Front Row.

Separate iPhone/iPod functions from iTunes and create independent iDevice utility to sync and manage media on devices.

You can disable Ping in the preferences. But, it shouldn't be there in the first place, I agree.

Generally, I would like iTunes to be only about Music.

The iOS store integration, the slow boot, the limited file type support, the RAM usage, Ping and finally, the lack of 64bit.

That's about it. If Apple fixed all of them, I'd be pretty happy with it. Apple are usually good at removing features and taking a "step back" for the sake of efficient progress. Why not with iTunes?
