I HATE having to carry all this crap, I have to use a back pack to haul it around and replacing batteries is costing me a fortune...

1) iPod
2) GPS
3) Camera
4) Laptop
5) Cellphone
6) PDA
7) Thumbdrive

OH...wait...I Have an iPHONE NOW!!! QUIT YOUR WHINING about copy and paste and MMS, this has been beat to death and beyond.

YES!

I will be more specific and say lack of insurance and competitive prices, but definitely the slow network and high price for poor cell service.

If i could pick a second one, it's be the users that can't understand why so many people wouldn't be 100% happy with a limited device/product that has noticeable shortcomings that were solved in 1999.

p.s. the iPhone isn't a thumb-drive, outside of surfing the web it's not a good laptop (and the 3G sucks), it's camera is terrible, GPS doesn't have turn by turn, but 2 out of seven isn't bad. It does make calls, and it is the best iPod you can get.

Lack of official tethering via USB cable. I mean cmon, my provider (Which is the one selling iPhones here) allows tethering with the normal data plan, but the phone does not. This is probobly the biggest negative thing with the iPhone.

until the iphone can actually do basic things other smartphones can do, the 'whining' will continue.

oh and the iphone camera is absolutely terrible.

Its a toss up between MMS and Themes... I know Themes isn't like the most important thing in the world, but the UI is soooooo boring! I jailbroke mine just for the themes.

I miss way too many calls and texts because the vibration is so weak I don't feel it.

An LED is important for showing you that you have a missed call/text - I shouldn't have to press the home button to check for notifications. It's like the difference between push and fetch email - I don't want to have to check the phone, the phone should tell me I have a notification without me doing anything.

you are on drugs mate. The whole phone is a display, and vibration is fine here.

The fact that I have a Gen 1 iPhone and not the 3G version :D

The third thing I hate is that the 3G didn't offer much in improvements over the 2G. It's not even that much faster, and since you are going to pay more for the 3G network that acts more like Verizon's and Sprint's 2.5G network you have to ask what's the point?

Unless you want GPS that only tells you were you are, and not where you are going. :D

I have a GPS unit in the car for that...

I'm in New Zealand and we didn't get the original iPhone so I imported one from the states (Jailbrake) and I got my iPhone 8GB about 2 days before the 16GB model was release and it's impossible to any support for it.

And I am glad that you posted this.

I don't mind having separate devices for certain things i want done well. The iPhone is a kick @$$ iPod/cell phone/Mobile internet device. I don't know why so many junkies want to claim it's better than their MacBooks and GPS units and so forth.

If I got an iPhone I'd still have a GPS in my car since it doesn't cost me a fortune and it works better. I'd still carry my MB since it's got a bigger screen and many more things that make it a better choice for mobile productivity... like creating documents.

And I'd would never replace even the worst P&S camera with a cell phone camera.

yeah, the whole phone is a display, but it doesn't do anything when you have a message waiting for you. If I leave my phone on my desk and come back a little while later, I shouldn't have to press the button to see if there's a message waiting for me, there should be a little blinking light to tell me.

:)
I have a Digital SLR and cringe when my family break out their cellphones to take photos at family gatherings and then complain about the quality

This drives me nuts as well. Even more so when I'm on vacation, dslr in tow, and I see people taking once in a lifetime Disney photo's of the kids with a phone.

Frankly, I would rather have the option to not have a camera in the phone and cut the cost more. They are all useless.

One thing I really miss of my old Nokia E61i: the blinking light that told you, that you had received a SMS, an email or missed a call.
