Some people really do take pedantic and turn it up to 11 in this place.

I'd have thought post people here would be intelligent enough to figure out that when I said first drink, I meant as in walking up to a bar and buying one myself.
In that case you can do that at 16 :)

I've always wondered - can you hear yourself speak travelling at over the speed of sound?

Or more accurately, what do you even hear?

I think you would be able to hear everything just fine. You're inside of a pressurized cabin and everything in that cabin is also moving at the speed of sound. So when you speak that sound coming out is already the same speed so it's just going even faster. It's the same idea as, if you were to jump off of the floor in an airplane you don't go rocketing against the back of the fuselage because you're moving just as fast as the plane (500ish mph).

I think that makes sense.

Ah, I've travelled a lot and lived in a bunch of different places.
I'm trilingual (Dutch, German, English in that order)
I've been to 5 of the 7 continents (Australia and Antarctica are still to come)
Eaten liver and pork sandwiches from a street stand in downtown cairo, didn't get sick

I feel like there's more that I can't think of just right now.

Nice. But play it on a real guitar (like I am), and we'll talk. ;)

BL.

Do you assume that because I play Guitar Hero that I don't actually play guitar? I mean, I am not the best, but I could keep up. I consider Guitar Hero completely separate from actually playing an instrument, it's just a game. You are probably better than me at guitar, I am probably better than you at Guitar Hero.

But did you never miss a note?

And I mean not ONE?

I missed quite a few notes lol.

Not at all. But as some people think that just because they ace Guitar Hero or Rock Band that a real instrument is just as easy. it isn't. :) Granted, I'm no Herman Li or Sam Totman either, but I can keep up just as well, and could give Yngwie a good run.

I've heard this many times, yet I've never heard of an actual occurance of this. I'm pretty sure it's just prejudice conjecture.

Not sure, but there are several couples on here.

The answer is: a few. ;)

Some have met and live together. I'm not sure if some of them will ever officially "marry" for one of many reasons (many members are gay), but perhaps a few may be married in the legal sense due to co-habitation laws and such. You never know.

This Kid is the best at Guitar Hero I have ever seen. 100% at the devil went down to Georgia and he is the current record holder. i used to think that i was good when i got 550k on Through The Fire And Flames but i basically quit when i saw this kid. not really but you know.

as for the guitar hero and real instrument debate. i went to New England Conservatory in Boston and all the kids there were pretty good at the game. it does take a certain amount of musical talent to be good at. the coordination required is pretty much the same. but the guitar hero controller only has 5 buttons and you cant compose or improvise so you are very limited. but it is still impressive to watch someone that is really good at it. again not as impressive as watching someone that is really good at and "actual" instrument.

pissed at the berlin wall when it was still there:eek:

No - you can't. It is illegal for someone aged under 18 to purchase drinks at a bar. The ONLY way in which 16 and 17 year olds can buy drinks is at a table meal. I can't actually believe I'm having this pedant-fest with people. The long held, well known tradition - go and have your first legal pint at a bar aged 18. It was massively, hugely obvious what I meant, yet pedants-r-us seem to want to waste their lives arguing over utterly pointless semantics.

Just for bloody clarity, for a .gov.uk site following the recent changes to licencing laws.

"Will the legal drinking age still be 18?

Yes. This remains unchanged under the Act. The only exception is that 16 and 17 year-olds may drink beer, wine or cider with a table meal in relevant premises, where accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or over. In all other cases, it is illegal for children under 18 to knowingly consume alcohol on relevant premises, or to buy or attempt to buy alcohol. Where the alcohol is consumed by accident, the child will have committed no offence."

storm chasing that has led me to see many tornadoes.
I've only seen a couple.
I've blown up stuff with RDX, PETN, and C4.
Crewed on a winning sailboat in a national championship.
Conned a destroyer escort and an M113 armored personnel carrier.
Fired a .50 cal Browning M2.... well, you get the picture.

The MacBook Air is not called an AirBook or the Mac Air
The iPod Touch is not called an iTouch
The operating ststem is pronounced mac-oh-ess-ten not mac-oh-ess-ex

Are you going to be OK? I have some nice little pills you can try.

1) Spent 6 months in an Opiate stupor due to a misdiagnosis. Suffered memory loss. :(
2) Went in to get my gall bladder removed - also lost 1/4 of my liver too!

Only one I can really think of:

- Shot an undercover cop with a paintball gun with friends at 3 in the morning, then ran across a 6 lane interstate to a very sketchy trailer park to avoid being caught, only to end up getting picked up by a different cop on the walk home for being out after curfew. And all I could think about when being held at the police station was "FAIL."

<g> Back when I was young, hanging out in alleys, some of us started throwing tomatoes at cars, Of course the cops showed up. Me said "Watch this..."
Splattered the windshield of the squad car with a fat one. Everybody went to ground and nobody was caught, or at least not detained.

Me too :) - was during an emergency thoracotomy.
Also done the warm placenta thing but that's not really a memory worth having. Delivered quite a few babies in houses/shacks/back of ambulances though.

Spent 4 years training to be a paramedic on some of the most dangerous streets in the world. During those days I was shot at with AK-47s and several other smaller guns on different occasions.

Name things you have done and up to 3104 other people on this forum have done too
Let's see. As of this post, the 3104 highest post member has made 348 posts.

I've made more posts so I guess that qualifies. :D

Without doing any research whatsoever, I'd say that 99% of people in this thread fall into that 1%.

Wow that's really cool, where was it? And were you a ball boy/line caller or what?

My friends Dad actually managed and directed the entire Pacific Life tennis tounament in Rancho Mirage, CA. We were best friends, and were pretty young at the time. He offered me a 2 week job, in which I would run the score board for the event.

I had an all access pass, and could go ANYWHERE I wanted (locker rooms, suites, media areas, etc.)

I went through the tunnel, and sat with the photographers for the final match. It was epic.

I was 13 years old I believe. I took those two weeks off of school, best decision of my life.

I made with a bunch of friends a complete humour show with my friend during the last year of our high school. There were over 90% of original work in it and we made around 2000$ for our prom. I also made all graphic work for this thing, making the logo, poster and ticket design. That's the thing that directly pushed me into graphic design.

Here's the poster if anybody is interested: http://peterqc.deviantart.com/art/Humor-Show-s-Poster-78216172
