Naming your iPhone?

My 120GB classic is just called "The Classic" and the iPhone is called "The Phone"... pretty boring I guess
wow my iPods always had boring names, like "iPod" ... now i need to spend the days while waiting for my 3G S thinking up some cool names.
I'm a nerd
I come from an engineering family and so my names are nerdish:
("Name" being the first name of the phone's user as my wife and I both have one)
Name's_iPod_Nano
Name's_iPhone
Name's_3g_iPhone
Name's_3GS_iPhone
and I recently found and fixed my 40GB iPod
Name's_Old_School_iPod
We do a similar thing with the PCs:
HP-Desktop-V2 (Second one we've owned)
HP-Laptop-V1 (First one we've owned)
Crud, even my Wii is named:
Sentell_Wii

Change the name?
Since we're on the topic, how do we change the name? Is it possible without going the Restore route?
It's strange, my iPhone appears as [First name] [Last name]'s iPhone in iTunes and pretty much everywhere else (i.e. Apps with sync). However, in Bluetooth (for tethering) it appears as a very generic "Local Host" and I can't seem to change that anywhere.

I think all you have to do is right-click it and select "rename". But I've never tried it.
My boyfriend's is called Fred. I name everything of his, but almost none of mine.

No, that's too obvious... I checked anyway: there's no option there to rename.
