Nathan Pyle's 'Strange Planet' Comic Coming to Apple TV+ as Animated Series

Yeah, I was really disappointed when I found out that he and his wife had attended anti-abortion rallies, and that he ignored questions on whether or not he'd donated to anti-abortion organizations.

The comics are disarmingly cute, but it sickens me to know that the proceeds of this show might also contribute to the persecution of women.

Kinda hoped Apple was better than this. I wish there was a way to get a comment from Apple TV execs on why they've decided to work with him.
Oh noooooo I didn’t know this. UGHHH well that’s ruined now.

Well, Nathan's pro-life stance is one of the reasons I'll go out of my way to SUPPORT his endeavors.
(And then I'll go back to reading my well-worn Embryology textbooks.)

It amazes me how some people so embrace "cancel culture" if someone deviates from some kind of presumed orthodoxy.

I sure hope you were just lazy in your selection and that he has better ones than these. There are lots of genuinely funny people in this world.

How is anything you quoted "cancel culture"?
If you can't see shadows of 1984's erasure and unperson-ing, you're either purposely closing your eyes to it, or you don't understand why what Winston was doing was wrong. In the concrete world, it's an application of what Trostky talked about, "The old principle: who does not work shall not eat, has been replaced with a new one: who does not obey shall not eat." (quoted in Hayek's "The Road to Serfdom")

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to invoke 1984. At this point it could have its own version of Godwin's law.

However good the comic strip is or how good the show’s writers are. I wouldn’t hold much hope for this. Simply because comic strips make a poor foundation for a show. I can’t think of any comic strip to TV Show or movie which turned out good.
The Boondocks. 4 seasons of comic strip adapted awesomeness, just to name one.

I have never found this comic to be funny. I certainly don't see any way a TV show based on the content can be interesting.
It’s fine that you don’t find it funny. We all have different tastes.
However given the popularity of the comics both online and in book form, it seems pretty clear there are ways the content can be interesting. Maybe not to you, but there are over 6 billion people who aren’t you on the planet and some of them probably will enjoy it.

It's been a while since I watched that but didn't it fall apart after like two seasons?

Strip creator Aaron McGruder left after the third season. You can see the quality drop between season 3 and 4. Though even season 4 was better than most TV shows out there.

Nathan Pyle is a kind man and a smart cookie, I'm sure he'll figure it out, and keep it from becoming an animated verision of "The Coneheads".

I didn’t think this far in advance but what a comparison! This is spot on But I Hope you’re right and that it isn’t just a cartoon version of coneheads haha

Yet Marvel has done essentially the same thing multiple times. Hmm...
Maybe not the best comparison; a four-panel newspaper / internet comic strip != comic book franchise. Though comic strips have been made into shows and movies. Off the top of my head: Peanuts, Dilbert, The Boondocks.
