Personally i'm neutral about this show as I'm not a fan of that particular comic (though I really see the artistry that's gone into it), but I'm happy to see any comic strip adaptation get some airtime as it's often looked down upon by some people (like cartoons are) as "kids stuff" or a lower form of entertainment. Which it clearly isn't.

The comic strip adaptation I'm awaiting most is Calvin and Hobbes - though I don't have my hopes up for a good adaptation because to me it's perfect as it is (and I own the complete hardback three volume collection). :D

Cool. Cool cool cool.

I have seen the comic a few times. I hope they make a good series in this other longer format.

Yeah, I was really disappointed when I found out that he and his wife had attended anti-abortion rallies, and that he ignored questions on whether or not he'd donated to anti-abortion organizations.

The comics are disarmingly cute, but it sickens me to know that the proceeds of this show might also contribute to the persecution of women.

Kinda hoped Apple was better than this. I wish there was a way to get a comment from Apple TV execs on why they've decided to work with him.
Why would everything has to be political? Apple might decide to work with him because he’s a talented artist? I sure hope Apple doesn't check anyone political background before working with them otherwise we would have only one voice and that’s boring.

I don't understand the absolute hatred from some people every time there is an article about Apple TV+. It seems to be a trigger for some to always point out how bad it is, yet they have never watched anything on it, how they cancelled it immediately, even though it was free, etc. Is it because Apple is doing other things other than making computers? I recall the same objections to Apple getting into the music player and phone business when they were announced. Is Apple TV+ taking focus away from Apple's other businesses? Considering updates it has made across all their businesses, that doesn't appear to be the case. So why the constant vitriol at Apple TV+? No one is forcing you to use it.

Yes, let's boil people down to single issues. Just wait until you find out that people around you that you talk with or buy from or read or watch have other opinions than you have. Even worse, some of us who are scientists might have opinions you might not like. Will you avoid my research because I might think differently than you do about social issues (I'm not saying I do, I'm merely pointing out that I could)? Should I avoid what you do if you have different opinions than I have? That seems petty.

You're welcome to make choices based on whatever you feel motivated to but we can also enjoy what others do (and even support them in some small financial way!) even if we might not agree with them 100%. If someone being anti-abortion/pro-life is where you draw the line, that's your choice, but that seems rather petty. Just my opinion though.

Because the guy wants Apple to “cancel” this work? Or better yet wouldn’t work with him at all.
a) not what he/she said and b) that’s not “cancel culture”, that’s just one person not liking something.

If it’s important enough of an issue to someone, why not? Is there no single topic or thing that would make you dislike someone who was otherwise a nice person?

OMG!! The hits keep coming!! Apple is killing it!!

I love Community and HARMONQUEST!! I would love if Apple got the rights to Harmonquest now that VRV is a shell of its former self.

I love this comic panel from Reddit - and will definitely watch with Harmon attached!
You’ve got a strange view of “killing it” ….
I know, right!

I used to play a mental game, trying to see the world through 'different eyes'.

I cringe when people ask, (because it's not an ask), 'How are you?'. They. Don't. Care! It's a knee jerk guilt driven blurted string of letters that coincidentally make words that can be spoken. They really don't care, and if you respond, they are surprised, and you are labeled as being 'threatening'. Take it from me...

It's a weird world, if you look at the absurdity of it all. But sometimes I can laugh my butt off when it really gets bizarre... I should apologize to some of the people I have laughed at, but, nah... They added to the wonder of life... Thank you!
If someone thought you were threatening because you responded to a normal, everyday question, it most likely wasn’t them that was the problem….

It's a shame Apple is supporting someone who outwardly supports such terrible ideologies. Although I'm not a fan of the comics I can see why people enjoy them, but I can't get past his horrible beliefs about womens' right to control their own bodies.
How do you feel about the horrible beliefs manifested by the Chinese government and Apple’s ongoing business in and with that country?

Meh. I’ve already added a calendar entry to cancel Apple TV+ before the free trial runs out in a few weeks. I don’t want to get stuck paying for it. I’ve had it for over a year due to free trials from Apple products I bought, but I’ve rarely found anything worth watching. TV+ is just like Amazon’s Prime Video in that both show tons of shows, but they are mostly for rent or purchase. The free with subscription content isn’t worth the money to me.
LOL... I have my 'Cancel Apple TV' reminder set for next week too. Don't think I've ever even watched anything on ATV+!

However good the comic strip is or how good the show’s writers are. I wouldn’t hold much hope for this. Simply because comic strips make a poor foundation for a show. I can’t think of any comic strip to TV Show or movie which turned out good.
Peanuts…. Blondie movies… Garfield… Dennis the Menace… Heathcliff… Flash Gordon… Popeye… these were all commercial successes. Lil’ Abner had a successful stage play. There were others.

I’d agree that the success to failure ratio is high, indeed, but that’s because of the production companies and “hack it out for a buck” ethos inherent in American animation.

I would love a For Better or For Worse TV show based on the comic. Talk about emotional impact. I still get sad about Farley.

Commercially successful doesn't equal good. Otherwise the Transformer movies would be better than Citizen Kane and Baywatch would be one of the best TV series ever made.

I had no idea Flash Gordon or Popeye were ever comics strips. I thought Flash Gordon was always a comic book.

Some of the 1930's Popeye cartoons are mildly amusing but mostly not very good.

Couldn't comment on the Blondie movies or Lil Abner play.

The rest weren't well made.

Sure I liked all this stuff as a kid. But I wouldn't consider them good.

It’s also not about the guy’s political views, but that didn’t stop you.
It’s about the comic which engages in social commentary - I’d say that has quite a lot to do with its creator and his views. Last I checked they’re not manufacturing the show in China, but please correct me on that if I’m wrong.
