wish it were avail as an Apple TV option as well. good move for them promotion wise, hope their streaming services can handle the extra load...

Even better than Apple TV is the free over-the-air signal. No internet delay, no hoping and praying that the NBC servers can keep up with the load. And most importantly, a completely unadulterated and uncompressed 1080i signal.

I love this, but clearly the potential ad revenue is driving the initiative. I'll be watching on TV, but still a cool concept nontheless.

A great move in the right direction, just not sure I am willing to count on a live stream of such an epic game viewed by millions simultaneously to go swimmingly. See you at the pub. ;)

This is a nice deal, thanks NBC.

My problem is with the NFL.

The NFL is so stuck in the past with their 'exclusive' deal with Verizon. Why don't they pay attention to what MLB has done and make it widespread to all devices for subscription fees?

MLB is raking in a nice sum and gaining fans because they make it so easy and it is so well executed.

----------

After the epic meltdown that was the Green Bay Packers, I'm too depressed to even watch the SuperBowl- on TV or on my iPad.

At least it helped people forget the epic meltdown last year of my KC Chiefs vs. Indy in the playoffs lol.

The story also says that those outside of the US and Mexico can watch the Super Bowl via NFL Game Rewind, but that service is only available in those two countries. In the rest of the world they offer NFL Game Pass which is a subscription service, so unlike the NBC service it is not free.

Bold : And, for all non U.S. based SMART users. :p

Although in the UK it can be legally watched online for free anyway, as it has been ever since Super Bowl XLII in 2008.

The game will air here on Channel 4 which can always be watched live either on channel4.com (desktop only, it uses Flash), or via the website and iOS apps (including iPhone) of TVPlayer.com and CatchupTV.com

And though not free, Sky Sports subscribers can also watch it either via their website and apps, or those of other providers.

Except for that !@#$%& MLB blackout.

That's what a jailbreak is for!

Apparently it is possible to airplay that app with the cydia tweak videopane

Thanks for that possibility! I'm mainly, however, just trying to point out that AirPlay might not be an option for most users. NBC might have a deal with the cable companies that would block it in this case. I just wouldn't count on it, unless we hear something definite from NBC.

All advertising is ultimately paid for by all consumers through increased product costs, thereby everyone ultimately getting socked for it. Every purchase you make for an advertised product contains an upcharge to cover the ads.

You must be awesome to hang out with.

As if screaming at the Tele isn't enough. we will all now be screaming at our iPad's.

If this has the real commercials / ads, I could see a TON of Canadian's VPN watching this!

Our commercials don't hold a candle to the American ones.
