iPhone 5 won't have unlimited data if Verizon goes tiered pricing. That is the bottom line.
You are just wrong.
If you already have a feature and are currently a Verizon customer, they won't make you remove it when you sign a new contract. If you are a new customer, they will make you select from the new features.
If you have unlimited data, you can drop it once the tiered pricing comes out. No one is stopping you from doing that ...
Different ball game with Verizon. Clearly you haven't deal with Verizon.
Once Verizon removes the unlimited plan, it will be gone from their systems so when you activate an iPhone 5, they can only add back on the tiered plans. The unlimited plan won't be an option in the system for them to add back on.
Signing a new contract technically means you are a new customer.
As others have said, I would be willing to bet that those who have unlimited will KEEP unlimited as long as they stay on that network.I own a verizon store so i think i know what im talking about.
Verizon will let you keep the Unlimited plan until you CHOOSE to take it off. The only time they will tell you you have to change the plan to upgrade to the phone is if they tier 4G plans ever. So no one needs to worry until a LTE iphone.
I'm sorry, but where have you been during the past 12 months? AT&T only forced NEW CUSTOMERS onto the NEW data plans. I clearly remember this when they announced tiered data plans.
However, I do agree that there could be a strong possibility that buying a subsidized iPhone 5 would mean signing a contract that could potentially NULL my unlimited data plan. However, didn't AT&T allow grandfathering of unlimited data onto subsidized iPhone 4s?
The truth is that no one knows anything right now. Everyone is just speculating on what will happen down the road.
The best hope for Verizon customers who currently have unlimited data is for Sprint to get the next iPhone and keep their unlimited data option. That will put a lot of pressure on Verizon to grandfather everyone in.
I know I would leave for a Sprint iPhone with unlimited data is Verizon took away mine.

Here's how it works:
If you have an unlimited plan on Verizon right now, that means you signed up for the unlimited plan. However, by the way things are looking, they are scrapping unlimited data for new contracts. Because every time you get a new phone on Verizon you sign a new plan, that means that there would be no way of getting unlimited data on Verizon...
...unless iPhone 5 has 4G. If it does, you could potentially lock in unlimited 4G data by getting an HTC Thunderbolt or Samsung Droid Charge.
TL;DR Verizon doesn't have 3G sim cards, thus you have to sign a new contract every time you get a new phone. Because newer contracts won't have unlimited data, it will be impossible to keep/grandfather unless Verizon makes a special deal.

Yeah? I hope you're employees are just as educated as you are on the policy. I don't take what store owners or Verizon employees say seriously anymore. You guys have unreliable knowledge.
Unlimited folks now will be able to keep unlimited until they change
I'm amazed as a college student you have no text plan.
Genius.
Op, even if the iphone 5 is delayed until september, hopefully the pixi will be enough to entertain you until then.
Chris2k5 **** and eat a d*ck. and stop trolling! trekker same for u!
Unlimited folks now will be able to keep unlimited until they change, just like att let current unlimited folks keep their unlimited data when upgrading to the iphone or even an Android 4G device.
Only new customers will be affected.
Change = iPhone 5 upgrade. You just contradicted yourself.
