Great counterarguments

You left me a lot to think about today

/s

Twitter censorship is the worst. I’d love to see them investigated, regulated, and dissected by scrutiny of the law as much as possible.

Jack Dorsey now apologizes to a check mark for ordering Chick Fil-A during pride month “forgot about their background” — as a Christian corporation. That is, When he isn’t linking to articles that call for having all conservatives in California eradicated.. and later his to clarify what he meant by calling it a ‘great read’

Cant make this stuff up look at his feed. unfit to be CEO of a company of personal expression

Things have gotten unbelievably ugly,

instagram is censoring people who use the words God, Trump, or USA too. Look it up.

The internet utopia you speak of in its current form, simply doesn’t exist. Unless you’re into that kinda stuff, which you may be.

Nonsense.

There's no reason to write these what-if laws. The internet was perfectly fine pre-net neutrality. It's just another example of gov't overreach.

Now that’s a perfect example of someone commenting about a subject they don’t understand while recycling debunked republican talking points.

If you're so certain, you should buy up all the stock you can in internet provides NOW. You'll make a bundle... if you're right.

Like they will share the spoils with you! Most of the revenue increase goes to the top management as salary or target-bonus.

Nonsense.

I’ve personally experienced throttling as soon as I started putting up political posts myself. They degraded my QoS to the point where I don’t wanna use Zuckerberg’s platform anymore (was kinda useless anyways, egotistical people pretending to live such grand lives, taking pictures of every meal they eat) Never was slow up until then. Not one time.

So tell me
Again how this is nonsense?

A right to free internet? When was that ever plausibly proposed? The Constitution names specific rights and I don't recall any of those in there.

The Constitution is a work in progress. It has been amended many times to address inequalities, abuses of power, social change, and even wants. Consider the repeal of Prohibition. Do you have the need and right to be drunk, or just want to be drunk?

As we invent norms for ourselves, we have to decide if those norms deserve protection from people who might otherwise want to control them.

You mean like when you could have switched to another carrier that didn't do that? And also you mean when the FCC made AT&T stop doing that, before any net neutrality regulations?

Not from the US so I won't be affected by this...

...but now that NN has been revoked, does this mean that AT&T could block FaceTime again and charge extra for using it (and the FCC wouldn't have the power to stop them)?

Proponents of Net Neutrality have made a plausible argument with examples that show how this is not true. Can the opponents do the same? The "trust us" argument doesn't hold much water with the current political climate.

I liked your comment because I agree, but let me add one thing. The “trust us” argument doesnt hold much water with ANY political climate not just the current. But yes, I agree with you.

All true. Wake me up when the Constitution is amended to include those rights/wants. Until then....

I genuinely don’t understand why californians are upset at a president of 18 months, who used to be a Manhattan liberal until things got ugly no less, and not their local democratic politicians and democratic president of the past 8 years that turned California into an unsustainable open borders high taxes wasteland

Cognitive dissonance is potent

Ignoring your debunked recycled republican talking points I would much rather live in California than any republicans controlled staate.

Yeah, Trump just recently said he'll probably be for lifting the federal ban on weed in states where they voted to make it legal. It will be fun to watch liberals denounce weed now that Trump is for legalization. ;)

If he legalized weed federally, Liberals would stop smoking it as a show of the resistance! They would change Their lifestyle Just to be spiteful.

And reefer madness jeff sessions would be livid. Which is great cause he’s a terrible AG and that’s been his main obsession

And Democrats would be permanently unelectable. Obama was the cool guy but he did nothing in this department and somehow liberals are like “it’s congress! It’s all Congress!”

Everyone is just overreac... (***Beep*** access expired, user disconnected. Purchase another pass to resume access. Thank you for choosing Comcast ***Beep***)

False. I bought my own modem for Comca$h and I had the ability to forgo Verizon's garbage FiOS modem as well.
...they are still dictating which modem is compatible with their internet.
[doublepost=1528733036][/doublepost]
Wrong again. No ISPs dictated that you use only their costly modems. They were later forced to allow consumers to use their own modems, and the ISPs had to provide a list of compatible modems from which you and I could choose. Recently, this became a law in the previous admin.
They are still dictating which modems are compatible.

Everyone going crazy with worry about the horrors of an internet without net neutrality seem to have forgotten how the internet was WAAAYY back in 2015 (only 3 years ago people) before net neutrality was put in place.

People keep citing the AT&T throttling of Skype, but that's the beauty of an open market. If your provider is doing something you don't like, you switch to another provider to teach them a lesson.

I don't claim to know every detail of what is written in the net neutrality documents, but the differences I've seen between pre-2015 internet vs post-2015 internet are so small as to be nonexistent. Someone, anyone, tell me why it is such a BIG deal either way?

Even if it gets passed the House, it's not making it past the White House.

It's dead until the next Democratic President arrives....

Having worked for one of the largest CDNs in the middle of the original Netflix NN clusterf*ck this is really going to suck. Verizon and Comcast were very much throttling our entire network in order to extract payment out of Netflix. They saw their customers as *their* product instead of customers. They used that base as a method of extracting money and throwing their weight around instead of seeing them as customers that wanted content delivered in a timely manner. Now that they can legally do what they tried to do years ago we're just going to get more and more screwed. Comcast can limit Netflix traffic onto their network and extract payment for the traffic that makes it on. That's only going to lead to higher Netflix bills. It's not going to force new innovative technologies because Comcast has less competition if they can keep newcomers away from their customer base.

I see the bots showed up today. Not sure why anyone would legitimately argue against a free and open internet unless they own Comcast...

Literally none of that has been debunked and none of that is conspiracy theory. And none are talking points. Just facts.

Let’s examine it in depth since I threw a lot of tricky concepts out there

Trump was a liberal. Look at his wikipedia

He has been in office 18 months look at a calendar

Taxes in California are high. Sanctuary cities and open borders are the norm. You live there you shouldn’t have to look it up but look it up if it helps

Obama was a democrat and was in office for 8 years. When were Californians outraged over lack of progress under
His administration? I either missed it, or it didn’t happen

Schumer pelosi brown and schiff have done nothing for you but screech and collect their $$

...like I said cognitive dissonance is potent

Thanks for validating this ;)

No, they are simply telling you which modems are compatible. As a convenience to you so you don't go buy the wrong one.

Oh well. The country clearly needs to destroy itself to learn the value of what it had.
Put both hands on the stove, USA.
Oh, please. "Destroy itself" translation: Put the internet back to the way it was before 2015 (a whole 3 years ago).

It's not the apocalypse, people. Calm down.

A lot of people (me included) don't have another provider to go to. And WAAAY back in 2015 was back when Comcast was extorting Netflix.
