Netflix were a bit naughty with my account as I got a notification telling me my monthly subscription was going up to £10.99. When I went to the settings they had upgraded me to the ultra HD. I downgraded it to standard definition which is £6.99 and to be honest I don’t think I’m bothered about HD for Netflix.

Yea, no one has ever talked about any of these shows:

Squid Games
The Crown
Stanger Things
Fuller House
Cobra Kai (granted this started on YouTube Red)
Bridgerton
Emily in Paris
Lost in Space
Queen's Gambit

(And those are just from the last few years).

Why do people have to exaggerate? If you don't like the shows Netflix runs, fine, everyone has their personal opinion. But, Netflix stills has way more "cooler talk" shows than any other streaming service, other than maybe Disney+ (and their popular shows are Marvel and Star Wars.)
Queen's Gambit was great! I saw a season of Disenchanted and Stranger Things. Enjoyed what I've seen thus far. This was at other people's homes. AFAIK, the people who say "there's nothing left on Netflix" were probably around since they first opened shop, or for 5+ years that they truly have seen all/most of what they wanted to see. Me, this and HBO Max are the only 2 major SS I haven't gotten, so I'll be subbing to one of these 2 later in the year when my other subs run out (they're either free trials, or annual ones that are due to be cancelled).

I was just curious as to how you were getting the bundle for so much less (seems like quite a deal) when the website lists the price at $19.99/month.

I'd like to know too. Former subb-er to Hulu, and Disney+ (separately), and best I got was a "we'd like you back" email offering the 2 (Hulu with ads) together for $10 a month. That's a $5 savings if I got them a la carte, or $4 savings via that bundle with ESPN+. However, I would like to pay an extra $6 a month to upgrade to Hulu ad-free, but don't see that option. I also don't know if this is only good for a month (where it'll revert to regular price after a month), or that I can still keep going. Also curious to know how long I would have to redeem such an offer.

It's actually less than half US households but that number is declining rapidly. If it wasn't for sports packages locking customers into regional programming, the number would be a lot lower. Cable TV programming is a dying business and might not even exist 10 years from now.
I know some older folks who don't know how to use internet themselves. However, they've been picking up a remote controller, turning on the TV, and flipping channels via that method, for 3 to 6 decades, so that's np since it's very familiar. For some of them, I suspect SS (streaming services) would be much better in terms of savings, convenience, flexibility, and choice, but they're well off enough financially that they wouldn't really need to worry about cable TV rates at least.

Torrent is for free
It is, but the VPN you need won't be. There are free VPNs, but I'm told you're much better off paying for one, even if it's $5 to $10 a month (and one that's not based in the US). If you already use a VPN, then yeah, no extra charge there.

I'm not particularly picky. As a reference, I did like the Star Wars prequel movies. I only watched the new trilogy because it was on Disney+. If there was a surcharge (like with Mulan for the firs few months it came out), I wouldn't have bothered. For me, when I get into a SS, my main criteria are...

--options for no ads, or ads must be very mild
Ads on Hulu and Paramount Plus suck :( I will only return to them on their ad free plans
The only place I put up with ads is YouTube since they're only 15s, or skippable after 5s.

--Must be viewable through a web browser on a PC
Contrast that to Quibi which was only through their app. For the longest time, I thought ATV+ required Apple hardware to view. It was only when I got a trial of ATV+ that I went ahead and looked into this.

--HD or SD
I'm watching on a 1440p monitor, so I don't care about 4K. In fact, I'd like for it to NOT be forced on me since it'd be wasted.

--must have content I like
This can be highly subjective, as I've heard reasons for some ppl like one SS, but others legit hating the same one. Ofc., people like different genres, actors, themes, etc. I just go through their catalog online (annoyed that Hulu doesn't let you do this with their own unless you're already subscribed), and note if there's enough content for me to watch. If I run out, then I did month-to-month and will just cancel.

Speaking of which...
Netflix is the best streaming provider out there period. I do hate the price hikes and will drop them if the price gets too crazy. Let's review the landscape:

1. Amazon Prime = Ultra low budget Sci-Fi channel. Absolute garbage.
2. Disney+ = Devoid of content unless you are big on Marvel and Star Wars.
3. Apple TV+ = Great content for Adults. Needs more content.
4. Netflix = King of streaming services with loads of content for all ages.
5. Hulu = Probably the second or third best option out there with Adult content.

Discuss.
1- I was disappointed that a lot of stuff required additional $$ to rent, buy, or get through some other channel. I saw some of the Star Treks before they got migrated to Paramount Plus, some TV series. Some random movies (before they got yanked). I'm going to let this lapse when my annual sub runs out. I'm told I really should binge The Expanse.

I'm also going to miss out on Prime shipping, but TBH, it's take it or leave it at this point. It's nice, but I suspect I won't miss it (not especially since I'll be paying $140 instead of $120 annually now). I don't use any of the other services included with this... discount on Whole Foods, Music, Photos, etc.

2- I like SW and Marvel, and will be rewewing this at some point. I grew up on their "golden age" films of the 90s and Pixar, so I'll be watching related movies here as well. Also, I ended up binging 4 seasons of Simpsons for the month I had this!

3- I'm enjoying my trial thus far. I've seen CODA, Greyhound, See, Defending Jacob, Central Park, Ted Lasso, and Morning Show. Will get as much stuff in as possible. Do agree with others as you can get through all of their content you'd like in a fraction of the time vs. other SS (although for me, I may need 1 to 3 more months)

4- Look forward to getting back to Disenchanted, Stranger Things, but also Lost In Space.

5- I would've loved to do this, ad-free, on annual rate as this is the one SS that's robust enough for me to consider so! But they canned the annual rate option! Ironically enough, that got me to check out the other SS! There is much I'd like to see here with new TV series coming out (e.g. Bob's Burgers), but also their backlog (e.g. Archer). And Futurama is set to get a new season in 2023!

EDIT: Added simpsons to Disney+

Well said! As it stands right now, I have:

1. HBO Max - Free with ATT Mobile Plan.
2. YouTube TV - for sports and news mostly.
3. Disney+ - Marvel and Star Wars for family.
4. Netflix - Nuff said.

If money becomes tight, YouTube TV and Disney+ are the first to go.

Right now T-Mobile offers Netflix, AppleTV+ and Paramount+ to their subscribers. Thats some decent money saved although I pay more for Netflix's 4K stuff. They have some great looking 4K so for me the extra $$ is worth the extra money.

Do we need to ask them about this, or will we get an email about it? I was sent an email about Paramount Plus essentials edition (with ads), but that was back in Nov. 2021. AFAIK, you need to be on their Magenta plan for NF and ATV+? (which I am not)
