glad the app is out. lame that it's one of those not optimized for the Retina display. Kind of inexcusable that the interface icons aren't high res since this is shipping two months after the iPhone 4 release. I can understand all of their movie artwork not yet being optimized but the splash screen and interface? Lame.

How much time do you spend staring at the home screen. So what the icon is not "optimized".

Man I'm loving the functionality and content, but that icon is awful. It's just so lifeless, although it does convey their brand & clearly sticks out. I just wish it stuck out in a pleasing way.

Had to reboot phone, now 3G works.

Ah Netflix on my Wii, Netflix on my Xbox, Neflix on my PS3, Neflix on my Blueray, My iPhone, My iPad. If only there was more stream now choices. Good thing I have Sling, live in USA and have unlimited 3G on everything.;)

And instant streaming works over 3G, I'm impressed that this was allowed.

It would be rather silly for AT&T to not allow streaming over 3G when they've just eliminated their unlimited data plan. I'm sure this app will make them BOATLOADS of money in overage charges.

I'm really disappointed that I cannot manage my DVD queue with this app. Weird exclusion.

Everything is amazing and nobody is happy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOzNrO54xsY

Anyone with it able to test whether you can output from your iPhone to a TV with the video out cables?

The app is free. Using it is not, since you need a Netflix subscription. I tried out a quick streaming movie, and it looked great on my iphone 4.

Nope...

Geographic Limitation: You may not view a movie through the instant watching functionality anywhere other than within the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. Due to licensing restrictions, you may not instantly watch movies outside of this area, including the U.S. territories, and Netflix may use technologies to verify your compliance.

That is correct. I am a US subscriber and I was in the UK with my ipad a couple weeks ago, and tried this. It detected (by IP lookup? Location services? Not sure) that I was in the UK, and would not allow me to watch anything. Oh well. I still love it. I was a Blockbuster subscriber but Netflix streaming is fantastic. We use it on our imac, on a big TV with an xbox, and on another TV with the ipad. All for 9.99/mo. Plus DVD's. What a deal.

Login timeouts

I'm unable to login to my account, it keeps timing out. Has anyone else seen the same?

Plus, it's annoying that it clears your credentials after the timeout so you have to type them back in each attempt.

It's most likely that they use IP addresses to verify. That's pretty easily defeated if you care to. I probably wouldn't care to myself, but I would prefer it if they extended it to the US and Canada.

Just curious - does Netflix allow you to watch movies on your laptop in the UK? Seems random that they would prevent an iPad from doing it, and not a laptop.
