Who else getting tired of streaming websites like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, HBO Max that force users into single line horizontal scrolling? It is especially annoying on a desktop browser because on some of these services, you have to click more than 10 times in order see all the titles in a filmstrip. There is no fast horizontal scrolling, no way to jump to the beginning or end of the strip, and no way to expand the strip to show all titles at once. Even with native mobile apps, they don’t let users expand a filmstrip to see all titles at once. Did the developers of these interfaces bother to test for scalability, or did they just assume that if a single line horizontal strip works for 5 items, then it will also work for hundreds of items in a strip?

Basically no, because it's not a technical thing, Netflix don't want to be agregated as part of a broader streaming platform, they want to be self contained. They choose not to be part of "Up next".
Up next makes it so much easier to keep track of shows. Most of the time I simply forget about half the shows on Netflix because I'm always using the TV app. Hopefully Netflix changes their policy eventually.

The problem with this is, since all my other streaming services all show up in “up next” I hardly open Netflix and more. Won’t be long before I just cancel that service, they should be wanting their content to show up first so users will want to use it.

tvOS 15 has only been out 8 months and they had 2-3 months before that in beta. Glad they got around to it shortly before tvOS 16 drops in a couple weeks.

Sarcasm aside, hopefully this means that as the native player gets updated with each tvOS revision, Netflix will just automatically gain any new features with no work needed on their part.

I’ve had that Netflix log out issue too. We have two Apple TVs in the home and would get logged out daily. It stopped recently and I think it does have something to do with the SSD being full.

Just when PrimeVideo went the other way around, from iOS14 player to its proprietary... it was so good before..

Wow, I didn’t realize HBOMax used the native tvOS player. It’s by far the worst in my experience with regards to crashing and freezing up. I hope the Netflix app doesn’t become like this as well.
I never have issues with hbo max on Apple TV. However I can’t stand the app directly from my LG tvs, way too buggy. I’ve been thinking to get Apple TVs for all my TVs just to avoid using that app.

Netflix is currently in the process of rolling out an update to its Apple TV app, introducing support for the tvOS 15 player. As noted on Reddit and Twitter (via 9to5Mac), the updated interface began appearing on Apple TVs earlier this week in version 2.1.23 of the app.

The tvOS 15 native player displays show and movie titles in a larger type on the bottom of the screen above the playback bar. There's also an updated information button that displays details about the content, run time, and subtitles, and more.

With this change, there is no longer an option to swipe down to access subtitles, language, sound output settings, and more, as the native tvOS 15 video player interface does not use that layout.

Some other streaming services like HBO Max also use the same native player, so the interface will feel familiar to those who already use apps that support the tvOS 15 player. Other apps like Amazon Prime Video continue to use their own interfaces and have not adopted support for the native player.

Apple TV apps update automatically, so users should begin seeing the updated Netflix interface soon.

Just need TV app integration now
Yeah without integrating with the now next feature on Apple TV (and other services) I literally just forget Netflix exists. So much so that I’ve reduced my sub to the basic package now. They need to get their heads out of their arses and play ball! It will help them in the long run!

Apple TV apps update automatically,
No, they don't.
I just want Netflix integrated into the TV app… it honestly only hurts them because Netflix shows go on the back burner for us because they are not apart of the up next so we tend to forget about them
Or, it hurts Apple because many of us don't use the TV app due to it not including Netflix.

I think the swipe down option was better. Now I am usually juat confused trying to change any in-film settings. This is an example of Apple’s sometimes clumsy way of destroying something that worked beautifully. The first tvOS releases a couple of years ago were awesome, swipe down and boom: everything worked. Then, around two years ago, they destroyed the interface by making the highlight color impossible to see. You didn’t know what was highlighted and it became frustrating to use. Now Apple moved everything to the bottom in an effort to make it simple but instead made it very hard to know exactly what all those small symbols really meant and they are also hard to click properly without clicking something you never meant to click. This is with the old remote of course. If they had just kept their original way, everything would’ve been satisfactory.
The new interface sucks with the latest remote too

Apple should force every app to use this. Some apps' navigation and UI are simply atrociously bad. Looking at you Youtube.
In Australian apps on the Apple TV like Kayo, Binge, channel 10, channel 7 and channel 9 have absolute terrible navigation. Channel 10 you can’t even skip back 15seconds. And i would use Siri to do this but it lacks Siri integration. Wish apple would make it mandatory for streaming apps to use the same consistent interface so everything works.
