It's a little too late. Netflix is going to have to match competitive prices like Apple TV+ and such. Also, no hidden fee's please.

I've already cancelled my Netflix membership long time ago. Lost my trust.

We all have to select what we need to be entertained these days. Like the $5 coffee example, if any streaming host provides content you think is worth its value for entertainment don't worry about modest monthly subscriptions. Compared to broadcast fees associated with cable/satellite providers there is nothing out there that isn't essentially very cheap in comparison.

Netflix needs to stretch out their stuff more. Disney has mostly terrible garbage shows with the name Star Wars and Marvel but at least by releasing weekly they keep the anticipation up a little. With Ozarks and Stranger Things they are moving back in this direction and I think it could help them. Binging is not the only way.

I'd like to drop Netflix from our list of streaming services. It hasn't had anything I've wanted to watch for over a year. However, there are a couple girly shows my wife watches so we have to keep it for now.

My favourite is Crave right now.
Crave is so much better in Canada than Netflix, and of all the services we have, Netflix is the one I use the least by far. Even AppleTV+ has come to be way more useful.

When Stranger Things goes, I think a lot of people will let Netflix go too.

After many, many years, we'll be cancelling Netflix after the 2nd half of Stranger Things is released.
That’s all that’s keeping me around for now. Binging the last few episodes in July and then cancelling.

That got me thinking though, why they broke Stranger Things into two parts (really the whole thing and just a finale) into a period over two months. I think it’s because so many people are cancelling and this way they can squeak out an extra month out of Stranger Things fans.

It's more like they'd be paying you. If an ad-free version is $9.99/month and an ad-supported version is $4.99/month then they'd essentially be paying you $5/month (via a plan discount) to allow them to run ads.
Even if you want to consider that them paying you to watch adds, which is frankly ridiculous, that's a terrible value on one's time. The average Netflix viewer watches it for 2 hours per day or 60 hours per month. Assuming Netflix would only show 5 minutes in commercials per hour that is 5 hours in commercials per month or a pay rate of $1/hour. Hard pass.

My daughter attending university on the other side of the country used our family account.
We have since cancelled Netflix because of "sharing".

I’ve been using my sister’s account since the beginning, but I rarely use Netflix and it isn’t worth it for me to have my own account, so I’ll probably just give it up if they clamp down on “sharing” any further.

That some people are willing to put up with ads to save a measly $10 a month is crazy.

People complaining about Netflix charging extra for 4k seem to forget that bandwidth cost are higher and a couple extra bucks a month for the ones that want it isn't a big deal.

When do people became so cheap that they make this huge drama for less than $20 a month?

Streaming more expensive than cable? That's ridiculous.

Netflix 4K Tier $21
Youtube Premium Family $19
HBO Max $15
Peacock $10
Disney+ $7
AppleTV+ $5
Paramount/Showtime Bundle $10
Hulu $13

Thats just $100 a month to watch whenever and whatever.

This will give Netflix another excuse to raise the price on no-ad plans.

What I would like to see:
  • Consolidate 3 no-ad plans into a single plan at $10.99/month, single stream at full 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos.
  • Each additional simultaneous stream at $2.99/month, with remote stream limited to 7 days per month. Downloaded streams not affected by the 7-day limit.
  • Each additional remote stream for $5.99/month (e.g., college student in the same household).
  • Ad-supported plan at $5.99, limited to a single stream at 1080p Dolby 5.1. Download not possible.

Not impossible. Their “Basic” paid tier is 720P…. Who has a 720P television in 2022 😂
You can still purchase a 32”/720p TV. Last time I looked, broadcast TV is either 720p or 1080i. All those DVDs are 480.
I cannot tell the difference between DVD and Blu-ray, but I’m vision impaired.
I pay almost $200/month for Xfinity TV and Internet. That’s too much already.
Stats are showing many people want to stream with ads for free.
Those options are all over.
Might as well mention, Apple TV does not have The Roku Channel.
Guess I can’t blame them, but lots of excellent free stuff.
Apple TV might have Freevee from Amazon. The former IMDB TV.
Why one but not the other?
