With Netflix raising prices just as fast as they are losing content, they must feel some pressure to add more value to the brand. They can’t even offer 4K streaming without charging extra for it while other services offer it at no additional cost and an overall cheaper monthly price, HBO Max for example. And the original content they have been releasing is hit or miss.

And they don't that many 4K movies or TV Shows to stream for the extra price while Amazon Prime is a hit or miss in the 4K it least it is part of the whole package and they also add 4K from other studios not just their originals.

An ironic development would be Apple using the "steam" formula hosting Epic games...for....30%

I’d say it’s successful because there are small game companies that are getting paid by Apple for having customers engage with their apps on Apple Arcade. Some of them have used this influx of cash to then flesh out the game, figure out what folks like to see (on a platform with millions of users) and then release it for other platforms. If Apple Arcade is the reason why I can play Grindstone on Switch, for example, then that’s a success.
I'm sure people enjoy it and I'm glad for that, and I hope it does well. Not sure how competitive a space it is as I can't see Apple making much off the Arcade service.

No, they’re probably not making much off of it if any it’s just a part of Apple One that adds value AND helps out the developers. So, win win.
