I don’t really care because the majority will still pay for their account.I love how many thumbs down you got. Really proves the point that the vast majority of people dont think like you or any other corporate bean counter.
Not when you cancel it after one or two seasons!6 years ago, right? Times change. Content is far more expensive.
Because it *IS* sharing your Netflix account.Notice they tactfully call it sharing your Netflix account
I actually think this could work when people do the math and their kids realize that $8 per month to watch at the college dorm is less than $17 a month to watch at the college dorm.
Well, I'm not sure it isn't a crime, there are a lot of countries in this world. Are you sure it's not a crime anywhere in the world?Again... Sharing a password is not a crime, it is stupid, and it is certainly against the T&Cs. For people that don't understand this more than basic concept; spend 15 min. reading these Terms & COnditions you agree to everytime you sign up for these services...I believe Netflix would be registering your WAN IP, of which your household only has one.
Not a crime, but certainly against their T&Cs. They can, and should, lock your account.
Nowhere did they ever say that simultaneous use means from multiple households, but rather from multiple devices within one household.
You are right, it is not ILLIGAL, but certainly against their T&Cs.
Nope, use a VPN into your friends house?
They need to separate # of streams from quality already. They shouldn't be charging different for quality anyway. Should be by the number of streams onlyMy perspective is that they've actually gotten more money because the choice for a lot of people is between sharing an account and none of those sharing it having an account. These customers will be gone for good once the crackdown starts, dropping the revenue stream from them to $0.
So if you’re married with two kids living in your house and you have one netflix account that’s fine if they all use the same account but if you’re single and, say, share your account with a couple siblings who don’t live with you that’s bad? I have an Apple One account. I’m sharing it with my mom and sister. Apple doesn’t care that they don’t live in my house and share my ip address. Netflix should just have a family plan and allow up to x number of people on the plan and then not care where those people are accessing it from.Good.
You can't share your Theater tickets and you can't share traditional cable. Bizarre people think its OK to share a $15 netflix account with their entire family all over the US and complain when their favorite show gets cancelled.
That's part of the problem. If it didn't take 15 minutes to read them, more people would read them. Most people don't consciously "accept" the T&Cs, they just click the button that makes them go away. For people that don't understand this more than basic concept; spend 15 min. reading these Terms & COnditions you agree to everytime you sign up for these services...
The ? is will they charge the sharer on their payment, so then if they don't pay, they get shutdown without affecting the main user? What I envision.
1) People cancel their Standard ($16.49CAD/mo) or Premium ($20.99CAD/mo) plans
2) Share someones Standard or Premium plan with $7.99CAD/mo "extra member" discounted rate plan to save $8.50CAD/mo or $13.00CAD/mo
3) Profit! 🤣
I expect a subReddit for a group share for this to appear like how there was for people to join a Visible wireless service family plan.
Bad investments in shows nobody wants to watch and failing at becoming a gaming platform are expensive, yes.6 years ago, right? Times change. Content is far more expensive.
Why does it have to be immediate family members? Right now I’m sharing my Netflix with my mom and sister (who don’t live with me). If I can no longer share they won’t get their own Netflix account they’ll just stop watching it.It sounds like this is just a sneaky way to raise prices.
Netflix already has a "Premium" plan for $19.99/month that allows a household to watch on four screens in their home.
So maybe they're getting ready to offer an "Extended Family Plan" for $26.99 so that sons and daughters can use that account when they are away at college.
In essence... that what they're doing... charging extra money for people outside your home.
🤔
I don't even see it morally wrong as long as the "force" you into top tier because you want 4k. Might as well use the other three streams somewhere. It is not. You can argue it is morally wrong, but there is literally no instance where you’ll be arrested because you shared your Netflix account with your relatives.
I guess its not profitable anymore since there is more and more competition and more and more services you can subscribe to.Seems like the whole streaming model for all these companies is turning out to be not as profitable as anticipated. Netflix raised prices and lost subscribers and when this hits the USA they will lose more. Then they will go to ads and lose more. Eventually be bought out or collapse. At least for Apple streaming and services are just a side thing to sell more real product.
YES! And with the vehicle one, and analogy is will NF somehow spy on you and get you for having friends over to watch, since they don't actually live with you?But their residence is your household. They're just away at college.
Which is completely legitimate, and I know if I had been sharing an account (rather than getting one free with my cell plan), that's what I'd do.Why does it have to be immediate family members? Right now I’m sharing my Netflix with my mom and sister (who don’t live with me). If I can no longer share they won’t get their own Netflix account they’ll just stop watching it.
