And then more will cancel, and they will thing raising the price and poorly cutting costs will help, but actually more will cancel until NF goes the way of BB and the Dodo
Look - every other streamer will move this way in the next year or two.

Just like ads. Remember disney+ had no ads? Now it does. and Netflix. and pretty much every other service.

It's over. The cheap days are done. You can either pay for your service or don't. They won't cry any tears losing someone paying $15 a month sharing with 5 people. Netflix is doing it first because they are still the leader in the streaming wars and everyone else will get in line.

If Netflix doesn't think they can make a profit allowing 4 streams for the price, then they should reduce the number of streams, not try to shame users because of who, specifically, those streams are being watched by.

This is the correct take. This is a much more enforceable plan than this other plan of trying to annoy and extort existing customers. It's not our fault Netfliox literally has sold their service FOR YEARS touting that you get 4 STREAMS you can watch ANYWHERE.

That's literally not how any other organization defines it, but okay.

It's about how the organization defines it, and Netflix has that covered.

In the end it's functionally equivalent to how I defined it - and that is people living in a different house.

Does it not say household? They're still a member of my household, where they come home every once and awhile, and have their mail sent, including their billing and tax items.

You all share the same physical book and DVD at the same time all over the Country? Please tell me how that works!
Exactly ! That was a great benefit/promise of the internet/digital era. No longer would location matter. It wouldn't matter what part of the world I was in when I wanted to visit a site.

Shouldn't matter where I use/share a service on the internet I've paid for. I've paid for 4 streams. Whose business is it how/where inside those streams other than mine ?

Netflix needs to talk to Apple. Apple + is a family plan (5 members) with options and it does not require the same roof. All Netflix needed to do is create a user account based on the Apple ID model. All users need a free Netflix account. Only Netflix account users can join a family plan to share. If needed update the pricing. Apple did their homework. Netflix stuck in the 1980’s.

The problem with magnet/torrenting a lot of disposable Netflix *****, like the postmodern Resident Evil reboot – is that it’s in the Recycle Bin after the second episode.

Besides the HBO box sets I have, I would like to pay for good content.

“Apple TV service will be provided for 1 year as an added value to any Apple goods purchase above 300usd”. THAT is what I would love to hear.
I am canceling mine after Servant ends as there is no indication of Severance 2 coming soon. Exoensive shows, terrible dialogs and non credible humans in most ATV shows.
The same with Fitness+ subscription. The trainers seem to be high or something. All the time unnatural smiles and happy dancing, zero suffering,
Directed like movies, not training sessions. Unreal. Shame.

Their business model is based on “premises”, not “families”. If you don’t like… go to Apple?

A household is the occupants of a single dwelling, people that physically live there. Not hard to understand.

Same feeling

Most of the Netflix content isn't worth the time or bandwidth to acquire anyhow

Good.

You can't share your Theater tickets and you can't share traditional cable. Bizarre people think its OK to share a $15 netflix account with their entire family all over the US and complain when their favorite show gets cancelled.
Few years back I would agree BUT today there are a zillion other platforms which undermines the one platform all content formula (like spotify for music)
This will lead eventually to more piracy and THAT will cancel your favorite show. Not the people who are willing to spend 20$/month; but not 4x20$

My perspective is that they've actually gotten more money because the choice for a lot of people is between sharing an account and none of those sharing it having an account. These customers will be gone for good once the crackdown starts, dropping the revenue stream from them to $0.
However, the calculation is:

Assume price of subscription is 2x the sharing plan, so for every list subscription you need2 sharing plans sold. My guess is enough sharers will sign on, or simply go without while the original subscribers stays on so the will be a net gain in revenue.

Bad investments in shows nobody wants to watch and failing at becoming a gaming platform are expensive, yes.

Producing their own content is not more expensive than it was 6 years ago.

So no, this is 100% greed.

Netflix was losing $4 billion a year six years ago, and producing your own content is *significantly* more expensive than six years ago, as is licensing third party content.

I guess there is also another easy fix.

When I was with Netflix. I was paying for 4K streaming, It had 4 streams I can use at the same time.

I am one person and I didn't need that so I logged in to someone elses device so they can watch it. I was forced to pay for 4 streams so I may as well use it.

So... Drop the price, give users the option to only have 1 screen and pay for extra screens if they want. And we won't go down the track of piracy
