Over a year after grandfathered subscribers on Netflix's original $7.99/month plan were introduced to the new $9.99/month pricing, Mashable reports that the standard streaming plan will be increasing by $1 starting for U.S. subscribers in November. This means that those who now pay $9.99/month to stream on two screens at once (the standard tier) will be paying $10.99/month soon.

The top tier option, which provides streaming on four screens at once and allows access to Ultra HD videos, is also increasing from $11.99/month to $13.99/month. The service's basic plan is staying at $7.99/month, letting users stream only in standard definition on one screen at a time.

The exact time that the new prices will show up will vary depending on each subscriber's billing cycle, but starting on October 19 Netflix will send out emails with "at least" 30 days of notice ahead of the bump in price. Regarding the changes, Netflix provided the following statement:
"From time to time, Netflix plans and pricing are adjusted as we add more exclusive TV shows and movies, introduce new product features and improve the overall Netflix experience to help members find something great to watch even faster."
For the last price change, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings wrote a letter to company investors about an "unexpected" loss of subscribers following the price hike from $7.99 to $9.99. At the time, Hastings said that, "Whatever the price is for something, people don't like for it to go up," while still claiming that the new price tiers were "working great" for new members who were not grandfathered into the $7.99/month model.

So far I am not seeing the 4 screen plan price change on my account, already see the 2 screen changed though. I'll probably cancel and move on.. there's other streaming services for cheaper that offer more if you use a VPN.

Always sucks when pricing increases, but it's still a helluva lot cheaper than standard cable packages. At least it is up here, north of the wall.
It is, until it isn’t anymore...

At some point I can see a cable/satellite conglomerate trying to buy out Netflix/Hulu/etc so they can get their customers back.

So you want to watch as much original content for LESS than $0.36 per DAY?

Netflix is already a killer bargain.
Id imagine Netflix is going to come out with a Live TV feature like what HULU came out with recently. Curious on how much $ it would be if they did.

how about you give me a lower tier plan that doesn’t include all the netflix originals...?
I agree, I don't watch any of them. None of them interest me at all. Netflix essentially was my DVD collection, but now I'll move onto an actual real streaming service that offers live events. Plenty of cheap ones out there.

unlikely to happen - since they need everyone to pay to make the originals possible - I still feel you get a lot of value for less than a $1 a day.

Netflix sucks

Too bad there aren't decent alternatives

They also have SO much original content that I would say most of it is complete garbage (but I like stranger things, ofc)

Amazon prime video is a nice freebie with a prime sub but

Same for Canada. $9.99 to $10.99.

That may seem to be "cheaper" than the US prices when you factor in exchange., but we also have far less content available.

I guess it depends on what you're looking to watch but the Canadian content I feel is much better than the US content on Netflix. We get newer releases faster than our neighbours to the south. We'll probably even get to keep the Disney content when Disney launches their own service in the US and content taken off US Netflix.

People will still pay it...Netflix knows your not going to buy an apple product for hundreds of dollars and then be worried about paying an additional $1.00 a month. Lol hey Netflix why not charge 2.00 more we will still pay it.
