It’s about Netflix being less prominent then Apple TV app. We all know if every app was just part of Apple TV app what’s the point of tvOS evolving to be more intelligent. Are the other digital receivers have their own proprietary app that does the same. Heavily selling Apple TV +?
But they would be more prominent with full intergation. When I search it would show me things that Netflix has offer based on my search.

Only have Apple Music subscription.
Cut the cable late 90’s.
Never went back.
So no I never saw Breaking Bad, GOT and all those acclaimed tv shows.
Don’t feel like I missed something.

I just cancelled Max. Dropped Disney+ 16 months ago. Netflix is soon to follow.

That leaves me with on Dish that gets canceled after March Madness and then Prime. I use Prime shipping. They separate that from Shipping and it'll be gone.

Only one will then be AppleTV+. If they separate that from the Apple One bundle and I'll cancel that as well.

These alone save me nearly $3k per year. I dropped CenturyLink ADSL for 1Gig Up/Down and canceled the old Lan line and went from $80/month -> $35/month.

Total savings > $3500/year which equates to nearly my House taxes on a no mortgage home.

That leaves me with utilities, food, auto gas, dog care and personal maintenance like clothes and occasional dining out, occasional movie and many hours of reading free time.

The rest I can invest.

I'll re-sub one all of the last season of Stranger Things has landed, then drop the sub again, for good. Netflix was good once, and I enjoyed it. Now it's just more of a pain, with their terrible attitude towards their customers.

This is a chicken and egg problem, users here say they won't use the Netflix app to watch cause they prefer to use all apple apps, and Netflix sees from usage stats atv users are the minority, so no reason to invest in it.

There is literally no good reason for this not to be implemented.
Not for the consumer, no. But there are several good reasons for Netflix. Hypothetically, opening the TV app and selecting Netflix content from your watch list jumps right into playback. Netflix would rather you open their app first, be bombarded with their curations/algorithms, and then be able to select content. It grants them the ability to a/b test and improve their recommendations, among other things, to better retain users.

It’s akin to automakers refusing CarPlay/Android Auto, why give up access to precious data for harvest. YMMV, pun intended.

Is this integration something that just happens automatically due to the way the Apple TV APIs work, and the app developer needs to write code to explicitly prevent it from happening? If so, I can see it being a bug as they claim.

Or is this integration something that the developer needs to implement themselves? If this is the case, it seems odd that they would be developing a feature that they never intend to support (and call it a bug).

I guess I've always thought it was the latter, so I think there's more to the story here...
Having just looked at the Apple Developer guides for Apple TV app integration, it's something that requires a LOT of work. This isn't a feature that comes pre-built into a streaming type app the moment it's written. There are a lot of steps to get it functional. Most people were reporting that what launched earlier today was incredibly half baked. My bet is that they're in the process of getting it ready to launch and the APIs are being integrated as we speak, and someone accidentally flicked a switch that made it public instead of internal. There's no way it's a random bug, it just isn't physically possible without some work having been done on it.

I sure hope so.

Netflix has never supported integration with the built-in content tracking feature in the Apple TV app, so Apple TV users are not able to see Netflix shows and movies in their watchlists.
I would not be surprised if Content Tracking on Apple TV app will soon become a requirement for all video streaming app and that Apple will start rejecting any app or updates that doesn’t support it. Apple wants to give users convenience and choice for while and making it a requirement will finally force Netflix to either implement it or force the app to be Safari only.

They are the winner. They are the market leader. They don't need this. Everyone else does. Simple as that.
The market leader at what? Offering unlimited piles of nondescript mid TV that you forget you ever watched within a week? Good for them.

When I search for a Movie or show, and Netflix is the only service that has it, but it doesn't show up in my AppleTV. I assume I either have to buy it or not watch it. Then when I look at my monthly subscriptions, Netflix looks like it has less value, and it gets lowered on my list of what gets cut this month. It's currently very low. I have one show I'm bingeing left on that service. When it's done, I think Netflix will be over. And without integration, there will never be any reason to resubscribe.

Other integrated services, even after I unsubscribe, will show up in "Up next" when a new season comes out, and I re-subscribe(and unsubscribe, to the next lowest service on my list.). This keeps services competitive.

Market leader position is not determined by an opinion from one person.
it depends on how many subscribers they have, how much money they are making.

Users: like this feature
Netflix: We are a**holes and we're not gonna implement the feature. Even if's accidentally there, we're gonna remove it.
Users: don't like increasing prices
Netflix: We are a**holes and we're gonna raise the price again. And you better believe we're gonna do it again in the future.
