No different than Apple’s refusal to offer iMessage on Android. For what they charge, they should give this integration. It’s ridiculous and petty.
Profiles are available and in my opinion horribly integrated on Apple TV. The kids watch ridiculous Disney+ content and I have to clear it from the watch next list again, and again, and again.Serious question to AppleTV app users:
When it shows you what is “next” for other providers, what does it show when your household has multiple users on each provider? Same account, but multiple users. Example: I don’t need to see my wife or son’s next up for viewing on Max, only mine. Or do you have to somehow “link” each user identity for each service to separate AppleTV identities?
As it stands now, I don’t enjoy watching movies or TV shows on small screens, so I only use apps on my TV and that works fine. Haven’t felt like I needed an “aggregator” as such. We tried ATV+ but it didn’t really click in my home.
Thanks for the reply. I would hate to have to sort through suggestions from multiple users when I just want to catch up on my own viewing, as you described. I know that most other streaming apps allow you to have multiple users on one account, and track viewing and provide suggestions for each independently. And each additional user profile is a “soft” profile with no email address or PII required, which is especially nice when you set up a profile for children. If aggregating this is not facilitated by AppleTV app, sounds like it is of limited value to anyone outside of a single user situation.Profiles are available and in my opinion horribly integrated on Apple TV. Full agreement! The biggest Netflix issue is its random sorting of content. Even if play 5 minutes of content, so it should bring those saved starting points, they can be randomized next time you navigate. Such a huge waste of time finding stuff for the current app.The Up Next and Continue Watching screens are not as good as they could be, but it really is annoying that my other content shows up there and not Netflix. It actually makes me go to Netflix less, which makes it easier for me to cancel Netflix for months at a time before going back to check out a show I missed.
Are you talking about the Netflix app? Anything I play partially (even a short bit) shows up in my “Continue Watching” and is sorted by reverse chrono order (the last thing I played is first). This is on my TV’s Netflix app. For all I know it’s different on other versions of their app, though.Full agreement! The biggest Netflix issue is its random sorting of content. Yes each time I close the app and have 4 things located and played a bit not added to my list. It works that way after using Amazon, Disney. Perhaps they have some minimum played time rule for it to work better? Are you talking about the Netflix app? No. They're acting in their interest.Netflix is just being petty
Exactly. 👍How does Netflix deciding to support or not support a feature in their app have “nothing to do with Netflix”. It is literally Netflix’s decision.
Fully agree. 🫡Netflix wrote the app.
It’s entirely within Netflix’s control whether they support or don’t support the feature
Why should Netflix, one of the world's most popular streaming services, give up their IP for free - only to prop up a competitor's service and streaming box?Netflix is the only one that doesn’t.
So, yes it has everything to do with Netflix.
It's a sad state of affairs when a bug is the most exciting news for Apple TV and Netflix in years.
Earlier today, some Netflix users in the United States began seeing Netflix content in the Apple TV app's Continue Watching queue, which prompted speculation that Netflix was rolling out Apple TV integration.

As it turns out, Netflix content showing up in new places in the Apple TV interface was a bug, and Netflix is not introducing expanded Apple TV functionality. In a statement to The Verge, a Netflix spokesperson confirmed that temporary support for the Continue Watching feature was an error, and it has been rolled back.
Netflix is one of the only major streaming services that has refused to offer integration with the Apple TV app, preferring instead for customers to manage watch lists and browse for content directly in the Netflix app.
Netflix has never supported integration with the built-in content tracking feature in the Apple TV app, so Apple TV users are not able to see Netflix shows and movies in their watchlists. Content from Apple TV+, Hulu, Disney+, Max, Amazon Prime Video, and other services can be tracked with the Apple TV app across Apple devices, but that is not the case for Netflix.

My point was simply that it’s Netflix’s decision, contrary to the other poster who was claiming it didn’t have anything to do with Netflix - it was somehow an Apple bug (in their Android Apple TV app) that suddenly made Netflix’s tvOS app better for Netflix’s customers who prefer to watch Netflix on an Apple TV.No. They're acting in their interest.
Exactly. 👍
As it should be: Their app - their decision what it supports.
Fully agree. 🫡
They wrote the app. So it is - and should be - entirely within their control what features it supports.

But no, it does not have "everything" to do with Netflix.
👉 If Apple want that integration in their Apple TV software, they're free to pay Netflix for it (and their development). Or come to the negotiating table and conclude a mutually beneficial business agreement.
And boy, can I think of a feature that Apple could offer to them in exchange!
Or should I say "contractual right" or "exemption" from certain business terms. Which would be beneficial to both Netflix and customers. Cause' you know, there are certain other (and very basic) missing features and integrations in Netflix' app for Apple devices.
It is a shame that Netflix is not doing the integration with the TV app. They really should.

Oh. Well ...
Shoot
I guess we can go back to piling on Netflix, calling them names and talking about how "we are cancelling!"
Cancelling "again", that is![]()

The only viable reason for integration that I've read. Many thanks to ya. 🙏Being able to watch inside Apple TV app would be even more awesome as it has the best Vision Pro experience.
I wasn’t aware that Apple made Android smartphones. No different than Apple’s refusal to offer iMessage on Android.
I cancelled several years ago. Have yet to find anything on there worth paying for.Oh. Well ...

Neither does Netflix make streaming boxes.I wasn’t aware that Apple made Android smartphones.
Neither does Netflix make streaming boxes.
But you were aware that Apple makes Android applications, weren’t you?
Same as for Netflix providing integration with the Apple TV app. What I meant to say is - Apple is under no obligation to make their software available on other platforms if it doesn’t suit their interests.
Disagree. Netflix isn’t trying to sell on OS or hardware like Apple is in you oranges to apples comparison. No different than Apple’s refusal to offer iMessage on Android.
