That does beg the question: Since all our phones are USB-C these days, does Netflix stop you from just using USB-C to HDMI out from the device and playing it on the external display that way?

In that case… it’s not like there’s not little USB-C female to HDMI male dongles and retractable USB-C cables on the market to throw in your travel bag.
I normally take a usb c to hdmi adapter to connect my iPad to a tv. Have downloaded before leaving on a cruise

Not following you here; no tier can cast from phones now, and every tier can still login to a smart tv, tv streaming device and phone.

We have the cheapest Netflix plan that is "free" on our t-mobile account, and it works fine on our Roku TV. Haven't paid Netflix anything directly in several years.
but there a a lot of tvs that do not have a netflix app even i wanted to use my login for someone else's device

Netflix is a horrible streaming service unless you enjoy them pushing very questionable content!

You can read this comment in any thread about any streaming service.
Clearly plenty of people like their content.

Netflix continues to show abject contempt for its customers. I hope they experience a mass exodus and fire their entire leadership.

A boycott is doable someone just needs to organize it.

And they need to somehow enlist at least 50 million of their closest friends to join them... because anything less won't even make the Netflix execs blink. The 1.2 million who protested the account sharing lockdowns and price increases of 2022 made absolutely no impact -- which is why other streaming services are now following their example.

Most effective approach would be a young person with many Tik-Tok followers to get the ball rolling.

Okay; let's see what that would look like. A quick bit of research suggests that there are fewer than 40 Tik-Tok accounts who could feasibly accomplish the number I suggested, singlehandedly -- and that's assuming that 1) you can convince one of those influencers to take the ball and run with it, 2) that at least 50 million of their followers are current Netflix subscribers, and 3) that all of those 50 million follower/subscribers are also willing to engage in such a boycott, at the urging of that influencer.

Unfortunately, barring some kind of an Epstein level scandal, I just don't see it happening anytime soon. (I wouldn't complain about being proven wrong, of course.)

Sure, **** it, let’s do nothing about anything. That’s the spirit!

But nothing is going to be done about it.
People are hyped for stranger things and everyone will have moved on in the new year after the finale.

I can see other reasons why someone would want to cast from their phones. I’m an RVer and some of my friends cast Netflix from their phone (using cell service). They often do not have any other internet connection and often use “dumb” TVs. Not a big enough market to be worth supporting for a company like Netflix, so they won’t be happy with the change.

Just hotspot the tv?

Hey, I'm not suggesting that you give up just because it's hard; I'm only pointing out that your commentary implying that it's easy is clearly unrealistic. The bottom line is, you're going to need a lot more than a single Tik-Toker, no matter how influential they are, and it's going to take time to achieve your objectives. And yes... there is always a very real chance that you won't succeed. That doesn't mean you don't try. If you see an opportunity for positive change that you think you can make, soldier on -- but always go into the task with realistic expectations.

As for me, I cancelled my Netflix subscription some time ago, so my own discourse on the matter comes from an entirely academic viewpoint.

I think some of my friends have limited hot spot cell plans with unlimited internet. Netflix can eat into those hot spot quotas quickly, while casting or USB-HDMI cabling doesn’t cost them anything (unlimited internet).
