So many complainers here! Netflix offer a family account and it’s reasonably priced. A personal account is not supposed to be shared yet people are cancelling as if they should be able to do this.

Errrm….families are “free” if you buy the right plan….
As long as your “family” lives with you.

What is the problem? Netflix still provides an enourmous amount of series and films, and they are producing their own media as well. The platform works well on most platforms, and you can get 4K. The change is that you are no longer paying for a family (which is a difficult definition), but rather a "location", and if you have the need to extend that location becuase your child(ren) are at school, etc., it is a bit extra. Perfectly fair, and perfectly easy to understand. If you don't like it, end your subscription...

Around 1M subscribers in Spain took that advice so ultimately I think Netflix will end up being the losers on this one. And those of us who subscribe and like the content that is expensive to make. Let’s hope not too many people cancel eh?

According to news most areas have actually seen a net increase in subscribers after the changes - so I don’t think Netflix worries…

Where are they gaining subscriptions? The news in Europe suggests they’ve lost a million in Spain, 200k in France, 700k in the UK since the end of 2021. Maybe it’s different in some parts of the world but those figures are pretty significant I would say.

In Canada supposedly that had a net gain since announcing the changes…

Is that because of the changes or just following the curve where subscriptions have increased slightly every year since 2017?

I think it shows the changes haven’t affected the Canadian market yet, but it is a very small market compared to other markets where it’s reported a decline in subscriptions. It’s also cheaper in some countries than others.

I am just calling it as I see it. I think Netflix is doing the right thing. Their big mistake was proclaiming a few years ago it was cool to share your PW.
