I offer only a probable simple remedy. We won't be able to solve corporate policy decisions and/or app coding algorithm issues posting in a web forum. However, with that one simple change, your own problem may be fully resolved as soon as immediately.

I think the problem is that I use an Apple TV on my TV and the Apple TV Netflix app has no „mark as home“ in the App settings unlike the Netflix app built into Android TV. So in a way I am stuck cuz I have no device where I can be like hey listen, this one is actually the home

I’m curious what people are paying for their streaming packages. We have Peacock, Netflix, Apple TV+, Max (paid by AT&T), Prime Video, Hulu, and Disney+. All ad free. I never watch Prime, it’s just for the shipping.
I'm in the same boat. I subscribe to multiple streaming services and it's still cheaper than cable services.

All the original Netflix material sucks lately anyway.
However that being said, the EU will sue the living daylights out of them.

I have no doubt this line in the article makes people want to slap Neflix around

Netflix said in May that its ad-supported streaming tier has 40 million global monthly active users, up 35 million from a year ago.

Because it would seem they are trying to give the impression that Netflix is so popular that more and more people want to subscribe to it's service. NO and No and more No.

The ONLY reason for the huge jump in numbers is because of Netflix preventing the use of password sharing thus forcing those who need Netflix to pay to use it. That is why figures are up 35 million from a year ago because the prevention of password sharing was only introduced towards the star of this year.

Nobody “needs” Netflix like nobody “needs” an iPhone.

Again, if you change your password, the one in Sweden will be locked out. So Netflix will only "see" access from your actual home. You shouldn't need to check a box or similar... just lock out the one in Sweden by changing your password. Then, all subsequent access with your new password will be from where you are instead of where you were during that travel to Sweden.

It’s not logged in. Checked the devices on the website. I need the button to tell Netflix that THIS network is my Home. I don’t think it’s checking the devices actually. The IP or whatever of the network needs to be „whitelisted“ as a home for Netflix to understand that every device on this (my) network is at „home“

I need this:

AppleTV doesn’t have it

I'm sure the prices will only increase as more and more people subscribe for one or two months annually and cancel after watching their favorite shows, as I have been doing for years with all of the services.

Apple TV+ recently sent me a survey asking why I canceled and what would keep me, so I pointed out that I only pay for one service for one month at a time depending on who has the shows I wanna watch.
Honestly for people who don’t watch a lot or are more thoughtful about their watching this is the best way. We have kids so they are more random and so we let them have a few options (Netflix has tons and Max has DC). But as soon as kids grow I think this is the best idea.

Why does Netflix need so much more money? What expenses do they have that have risen so much?
Hiring big name actors and putting them in poorly scripted and directed movies. They do need some cost controls on their shows. Just like Disney. I heard a single episode of their newest random Star Wars schlock cost as much as Godzilla Minus One. The streamers spend money at an insane pace.

I am currently down to just youtube premium and Amazon prime (which I am paying $3 a month for in Singapore).

People dropped cable because of crappy programming, commercials, and high prices. Now streaming services seem to have a lot of crappy content, commercials, and crazy pricing. I wonder how long before streaming services are charging what cable did.

The idea of paying to watch ads for me is insane. Even if it it only costs a 1 cent.

Capitalism at its finest.

edit: for those who disagree, well, keep defending a billionaire company while they charge you to watch ads the only moment you have to relax in your day while they increase their revenue and worsen your experience :)
true that... either a free ad based or paid... but they reported that the ad based rakes them more revenue...

ditto... capitalism and ADS ruinning everything for everyone...

Paying once for all streaming platforms?
If you could divide the total revenue of the film industry minus the box office and revenue outside the USA among the US population, that would be about 26 dollars per person per year, or just under five dollars per month for every working citizen. That includes even BlueRay and DVD sales and whatnot. 🤯😲

Imagine that!

There have to be a lot of people who don't buy these products. 🤷‍♂️

I agree wholeheartedly.

Some of the Amazon offerings have ads despite Prime. Also, some of the movies I want to watch (some Indy short films) can on be found on subscription channels within Prime (so after paying for a Prime subscription one would have to pay an additional subscription - that'd be a definite no). I have to say that I close to cancelling Prime as a result. I no longer see the media offerings as much of a benefit from Prime. I have to say that even the delivery service is becoming less and less useful, but at least Prime has that. Netflix doesn't. *cough*

I have it for free from T-Mobile, it used to be a good plan but Netflix downgraded it.
I haven't used it in a very long time.
I'm streaming from Apple TV+. Tons of good content, and new good movies popping up each month.
I don't have time to browse to long lists of movies when most are junk and knock-offs of good movies (ex: Atlantic Rim)

Won't be possible for long. And Blurays treat viewers like criminals anyway with unskippable ads and minutes-long piracy warnings.

Anticompetitive control in the US is a complete joke. Ever since Comcast bribed Meredith Atwell Baker to allow the NBC merger, all the content companies are also streaming companies. Nobody has any incentive anymore to release any media in any format that they do not entirely control playback and access to.

Why sell someone something once when you can rent it to them forever? Why just rent it forever when you can ALSO sell ads on it forever? User experience? What's that? Why would they care? Where else you gonna get video when they own it all?
I’ve never seen this with blurays.

That's why I won't have Sky Tv.

Maybe it's just my player, but I haven't found a BluRay or DVD that I can't skip ads or piracy warning with.

We have been moving back to physical media.
