Now's a great time to just enjoy netshare -Wherever you are!

Updates will come soon eneough ,I expect and all those ranting and raging about our good fortune need to relax a little more.No doubt tethering apps will be popular and you will get your chance to pick the right one for you when your ready!

I can't believe it, but this crazy gypsy man was right! Tethering is coming, and most likely with several options..Now gypsy guy never said anything about pricing (because the new tethering will cost you about $40 extra a month, but he WAS right in the long run.

Alright, Borat. Leave they gypsy alone.

Wow.

New tethering apps from Apple will follow before long.Att won't be able to have there way for much longer now the iPhone is 3G.Apple deliberately let the cat out of the bag by slipping in Nullrivers app and soon it'll be there own.

Damn it, I was right after all!!!!!

Wow

Some of you will quickly see flaws in my thinking but think of tethering as a voice not just to surf but to communicate to thousands of other devices all around you cars travelling so they don't hit you or you them gadgets sending information to countless other gadgets. The current 3g as far as I know just sends messages back and forth to Att.WiFi sends the signal to all these gadgets so there's a gap for tethering companies and of course Apple and a lot of other people to influence how this works and how much is charged for the service.Surely,Apple sees this as a potential market and would therefore grease the wheels of progress by pushing NetShare etc as forrmidabley is it has with say the iPhone.

Double damn it, I was right again!!!!
I'm moving to the UK from the US in the next couple of weeks ( crazy gypsy guy time again!) and have never unlocked my iPhone 3G. Does anyone know whether I'll lose the NetShare app if I unlock? Does anyone know if those unlocking sim cards on Craigslist actually work?
I've used Netshare a whole lot and no extra charges from AT&T!

At&t Kills My Calls All The Time!

I am unable to have a conversation most of the time even when stationary with out the call being stopped!!!!!! I live in a urban area around major highways. I see no reason that this should be happening.

Just use Pda Net (on Cydia) if you're unlocking/jailbreaking... Problem solved! ;)

That used to happen to me all the time too and whilst stationary!
I called AT&T about a seperate issue and was asked about my service during the call. I explained the exact same thing, but which also included my 3G data connection running often slower than Edge and cutting out so often that I usually kept it on Edge even in areas swamped in city 3G coverage ares. She put me through to a tech guy who I explained the same to, which led to a fifteen minute conversation about whether the problem was with Apples hardware, software or AT&T. However, since right after that call I've had near perfect call and data coverage, that's been constantly fine for about three months. I don't know if AT&T did anything, but it seems to me they must have. Have you tried calling the technical departent at AT&T?

Hmmm... That's interesting, I never knew that. Just checked and I'm running 1.4 with no trial expiry... Confused!?!

Either way, it's well worth the $29...

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/599343/

I don't mind the $29, but it is kinda lame that they didn't advertise the change (from 1.33). Also not sure if I want to have to jailbrake AND pay. I'd do one or the other, but not both. When Firmware 2.2 is released I'll have to think seriously if it is worth it...

No offense meant withthe whole gypsy thing ya know. I just envisioned you as some crazy guy on a street corner yelling out about visions in your head.

Now have you had any visions about a possible tablet from apple?

A one time $30 fee is better than a continuous monthly one. I don't see any reason why NetShare would stop working, but I would have jailbreak software ready to go just in case.

You guys still have problems with dropped calls? Before they released firmware 2.1 I had very slow speeds and dropped calls galore. Apparently the phones were demanding too much power from the cell tower which created a strain on the network. Haven't had a problem since though..take it to the genius bar and explain them the situation, make sure they document it. If the problems persist then they'll switch the phone out for you no problem.

Thanks for the info. I don't know that much about computers in general, so I'm sure my rambling can come off as horribly naive to some and just plain annoying to others.
Appleinsider had a constructed Touch device photo about twice as big as the iPod Touch that I've been hoping would be close to what we might actually get from Apple. However, with the app store, making the Touch/iPhone more attractive and already capable of relatively good surfing ( except for a lot of crashes!) and the possibility of flash being not that far away) another device has a lot to compete with with. Keeping the new device at least the same resolution per square inch would be a must. My best take on it now would be a flip open version, not a tablet, with a bigger 9 inch (very thin) touch sensitive 160 dpi resolution screen with a mini chicklet style keyboard also, running mobile Safari that will have an accellerometer, capable of running current apps, but to have new apps written to utilize the higher screen resolution and specs, as more developers take to it. It would effectively be a 9 inch Touch but with a keyboard (very thin laptop style) You would be able to use the screen to type with like the Touch (especially usefull on a sofa or bed) but you'd have the physical keyboard too (usefull sitting down on your lap or on a table/desk) which like a laptop can be laid flat and have the screen angled up.
Prices would probably start at $900 for a 32 GB. The larger size screen should mean that the cost of the screen per square inch would be brought down over say buying six iPhone/Touch screens. Unlikely? Probably, but I'd like one!
There is the option of doing a dual touch screen device instead of the physical keyboard, but I think it would work better with a physical keyboard and using the display itself as the trackpad. That would obliviate any problems with reflections, make it easier to type on, reduce any problems with inadvertantly scrolling, typing etc and help keep the costs down.
I've just realized you can use two finger scrolling on the iPhone when posting on this forum before you go to the type mode.

While I like the idea of a tablet running iPhone OSX I don't think developers would want to have to split their workload developing for two versions of apps. I say this because keeping everything the same would enable more focus to go on development, rather than porting to different specced devices. It's why the App store and the iPhone are doing so well (in support from the mother company) in comparison to WinMo and Microsoft (who has to support hundreds of devices on a baseline OS. I say let the tablet device handle the upscaling of images/videos/apps. Cool discussion by the way...

Do you mean a device more akin to the MacBook Air but say with a 9 inch screen, but not as thin, in tablet form, spec's like a netbook and running OSX?
That would be great in my view too, but it would have the usual fan noise and heat issues of a laptop and would be heavier, thicker and need more power (plus a larger power cord) than a device not much more powerful than the iPhone/Touch.

Netshare crashing on 3GS running iOS 4.1

Is anyone else having issues with this App and current version of iOS on 3GS?

I set it up (and browsing through Safari on my MBA) and it crashes every 10-40 seconds.

Can anyone help? I've emailed the developers, but they don't seem to respond...

Thanks,

FireArse
