Honestly, i'm not sure if i'm more critical of the strippers or of the guys that frequent these places. The reason i'm so critical of strippers is because that industry is often tied in with drug addiction, prostitution, and sex slavery. I just think the whole thing is vile.

So shouldn't you be more critical of the patrons? In this framework you should perhaps have some sympathy for these women because they are more victims than anything else.

Not all of them are victims, some really are just grimy skanks. I have much more respect for porn stars.

The question is then how society may have influenced their development, which isn't to say that some people aren't "grimy skanks." I just tend to view it all from a broader perspective and ultimately just get cynical.

He got laid, and thought that the stripper was into him and the sex was free! Plain and simple!! And yes he was most likely telling the truth that the bouncers threatened to get the $$ off you and your friends.

BUT before you completely right off a strip club you GOTTA goto the bigger clubs where they have feature girls. Whiskey-A-Go-Go's in Toronto ... classic strip club and watching one fool getting buck pumped into the stage floor (face down) by his underwear by a stripping with a Rocky-like outfit on (punching gloves) giving him a weggy ... priceless. Having the DJ shame him on the mic in front of 400 ppl in the strip-club ... PURE comedy!! You couldn't right a scene for a movie more hilarious!! THAT is better for drinks on a bud's B-Day and for laughs no need to see strippers for a lap dance.

You went to a really bad strip club from the sounds of it. At most clubs, the strippers charge per song. The songs always start RIGHT after the other one. There would never be a time when "each song was done", since they want to keep the girls dancing as much as possible. The songs are also very short versions of themselves, with solos and what not cut out to maintain the high energy. Due to this, it's super easy to get "scammed" by getting lap dances and forgetting how many songs you've been getting grinded on for. It's entirely possible that the girl just said he got 6 songs worth of dancing when in reality it's only been 2 or 3. Strippers always think they can pull fast ones on customers but it's important to remember that they're usually incredibly stupid and there attempts to scam are usually painfully obvious, haha.

That being said, I've heard of A LOT of clubs (especially in Montreal) where you go in and there are no girls dancing and the "bouncers" just beat you up and take your money. I'm not even joking.

Actually I was in one of the better clubs in Philly a few years back (Delilahs) and the strippers did the same thing, only I know Id be paying for it.

Ya gotta watch out..Even the "better" joints are run by scumbags who will beat you senseless.

Meh. It happens all the time. You eventually learn where to go and where not to go. Can't say it's ever happened to me, but there has been some close calls.

From this post, I can tell 2 things. First, you've never been to a strip club, and secondly, you don't have very many close guy friends (bros). You don't go to a strip club for the girls, you go for the good time. Get a group of bros together and you just go enjoy the atmosphere. You don't have to get any dances or anything, it's just like a bar with naked women dancing around. Trust, none of my friends have any issues getting laid, but every now and then we'd get too drunk to wheel and we'd go chill at the club.

Don't fall into a trap of thinking that strip clubs are places where only horny losers go to get fap material for the night. Usually the club is full of students who just want to drink some beers and see some tits. Also, the girls aren't nasty or grimy, at least where I'm from -they're university students paying the bills.

I have been to a strip club many years ago. I did not get a lap dance. I would think a good policy would be you tell the young lady how many dances you want and pay up front before she starts, and/or she tells you when a song is over- no? Otherwise it is a rip off, however how much traction you'd get at the BBB or City Hall is an unknown.

I've had good times in strip clubs, generally when it's been a quiet night in the club. The girls are always good banter, even if they are talking and taking an interest to earn a buck, who cares.

Girls at clubs here don't charge per song, but for a dance that usually lasts 5 minutes. £10 for topless, £20 for full nude. They take the cash up front too, so you can't get out of paying and avoids situations like what happened to your friend. They can be dangerous places if there's corruption involved (especially if the bouncers are in on it too), but the clubs in the centre of town where I stay seem pretty corrupt free.

As far as I understood a mobile is pretty much assumed to be a camera, and taking photos in that sort of place is strongly discouraged. While no-one would search you for a phone, if you used it inside then you would probably be 'strongly encouraged' to leave.

In my experience these places are mostly run to be a safe and comfortable place for their patrons to be. It's a poor business model to steal from, and beat up your customers. Do some security guards overstep the line? Yes - but that happens all the time at regular clubs/disco venues too.

Sounds like your friend was a newb who racked up a (reasonable) bill that he was encouraged to pay. Lesson learned... many lessons cost more than $150.

I'm kind of sad that you have this opinion about women who work in this sort of environment. Every job requires you to 'whore yourself' for cash to a certain extent... I actually think that working as a stripper is probably less demeaning than dealing with the brain-numbing boredom of working a supermarket checkout.

But then I don't have many puritanical hangups about sex being bad, so maybe I'm just less judgemental about this sort of thing.

You use your body to earn money in your gym and (apparently) have sex with the customers. Most strippers don't do the latter!

I've been to a few in the states (Maine / Texas / New Orleans) and a few in Europe, and one in Vietnam. If you go with a few guys, it's OK for the camaraderie, but otherwise kinda disappointing.

But, I do think it's important to go at least once, just to see what they're like.

Best I've ever been to was "Master's" in Myrtle Beach. We usually head there during out "Mantrip" golf trip every year or so. Big, classy compared to most, but still a lot of freedom in what they let you do.

The clubs we used to go to in high school and college in West Virginia are some of the most vile and disgusting places you could visit, but we still went about twice a year. Lots of stories.

Basically, your buddy was stupid. He got what he deserved, and he'll know next time.

I've been to quite a few strip clubs. Back when I was on tour, we'd pack up the tour bus with a big group and take it over. Always a fun time. I've been to everything from very small, kinda gritty to stupid high-class places. I like something in the middle.

The nasty places just have no appeal to me, as why would I want to look at nasty, skanky chicks. Although, I still need to hit the Clermont Lounge here in Atlanta. It's supposedly one of those places where the strippers are nursing their kids with cigarettes before jumping on stage, and there's a stripper named Blondie who can crush beer cans with her boobs.

I also get no appeal out of the high-class places. The ones where you know they are just trying to siphon every dollar out of your wallet they can. Or where they charge a $20 entrance fee, then a $20 minimum drink with no alcohol. And I generally don't find "perfect" girls all that attractive, for me.

My favorite of all time was at Platinum Plus in Memphis, TN. Full nude, full alcohol, and *ahem*...touching allowed. And some of the girls were just to die for...so cute. I'm glad I don't live there any more, or I'd probably have a lot less money!

But I agree with some of the posters above. I would probably not go to one by myself. I've always gone either with a group or with my girlfriend or wife. Congratulations to anyone who can easily get laid or see naked women whenever they want...not always an option for a lot of dudes.
