Probably going to have to go to Apple store and check them out/hold one to figure out which color...think I'll be happy with either one

I agree totally here...so excited to finally own one. Now I just need to decide between the white and black and a 16 or 32 GB model...hmmmm

This part was easy for me. I originally thought 32GB but after doing some sleuthing into how much iOS7 uses and the type of apps I want, am strongly considering going 64GB. Color remains white/silver. Originally I thought a darker iPad but after owning a white iPhone 5, the lighter edge does not bother me.

My first iPhone was a 32GB 3GS. I don't load my entire music & photo collections on my phone so never came close to using all 32GB. When upgrading to the iPhone 5, I opted for 16GB. Initially I worried I'd regret downsizing but ultimately, remained at 16GB for the IP5 to save money towards a 32GB iPad. The larger screen of the iPad is going to be a lot more enjoyable for viewing photos, movies, etc., so for me, the extra storage is better used on the iPad.

I've been drooling like an idiot savant over iPads for years but couldn't afford one. It's been a long wait & like you, I'm excited it's finally going to happen.

ETA change in plan in what I'm now considering. Possibly going 64GB in lieu of 32. I'd hate to later regret not forking over $100 for ease of mind I'll have enough space & some to spare.

SSIA. I have never owned an iPad, but will definitely buy one within the next year. I was wondering what everyone thought as far as if I should go ahead and get the new Air model, or wait for the next release? With all of the negative blowback I have been hearing about the Air, I figured waiting another sic months to a year may be worth it. It is not imperative for me to have one NOW, but within a year it would be perfect. Thanks!

If you know you want to get an iPad, why wait?

Also, every product Apple releases comes with tonnes of "negative blowback". It won't matter what features it includes, there will always be something it doesn't have and people will focus on that.

When Google released the Nexus 7 (2013) Android fans praised it for having a better screen and more powerful processer. Those same people criticise the new Mini since it only has a better screen and more powerful processor.

if I can save $40-50 I can wait for sure...looking back it seems like the iPad 4 had discounts from $40-60 on Black Friday last year

Well stores like Best Buy offer price protection in case an item's cost drops. The amount of time varies but you can check into that. At BB, it is easy. Just save your receipt and present it at customer service for a refund of the difference.

Say the price drops at Target instead. Well BB will credit you because they know you can return your purchase inside the time period allotted and then buy it there instead. Again, it depends of the policy of the specific retailer.

interesting...I was set on buying it at an Apple retail store or something, but this sound like a great situation...so the price drop just has to be within the return period?

Well if the price drops within the return period, just return the iPad; turn around and buy a new one at the lower price. Same difference??

yea I realize that part...but I'm saying if the return policy is only 15 days or so and they discount it in 20 days or something for Black Friday, then would I be SOL?

not a huge deal, but would be good to know

Post Friday will be a very good time to buy an iPad, mini (Retina) or not. They're both equal in power giving you the simple choice of two screen sizes. The iPad Air is probably the most refined iPad ever as one of the thinnest and lightest tablets on the market. Without sounding too much like I work for Apple marketing, don't hold out because you think something better is coming. You'll spend your whole life waiting. A product launch is the best time to buy that product, get yourself an iPad Air or an iPad mini with Retina Display. You'll be disappointed with neither.

Next year the ipad Air will be much better no doubt about it. But this year is the perfect imei to get the ipad Air as to me, the design is the most important thing. They won't change it next year.

I agree. With Apple, it's ideal to buy products at launch since that maximizes the time your product is supported in terms of software updates. Even if you decide the older model is good enough for you, it's usually still a good idea to wait for the product announcement since that normally coincides with steep price drops on Apple certified refurbs.

If announced by another retailer other than where you bought it, then yes.

Best Buy may allow 30 days for price protection if bought there regardless of what the return period is, usually 15 days for electronics. BUT the return period is extended for the holidays as they know folks buy items as gifts for XMAS which aren't given till Dec 25th and so they allow the extra time to decide if they want it or not, just keep the receipt.

I really want to wait and not spend the money this year. I love finger print reader and think that will be nice on the next year's iPad.

However, I'm a third generation iPad. The screen is still amazing of course, but it feels a bit sluggish especially compared to something like my iPhone 5S.

I just don't use iPad THAT much to spend at least $600 on it.

not sure if I will or not...kinda feel like I will though, and if not I will know within the return period

Good point. I might do the same. Purchase the Air, if I fall in love, keep it. If not, wait a year.

I know this is odd, but one issue for me it the only full case Apple is offering is leather, and I prefer the plastic ones like were offered on the last iPads.

yea that's my plan...I have never owned a tablet before, so it will be interesting to see how and how often I truly will use it
