This service is going to fail bad. The only people that paid for the soon former Play Music was to get YouTube ad free. Since that won't be offered anymore no one is really going to bother with the music service and rather get Spotify and/or Apple Music.

Not to blow your mind, but I've been a paying Google Play Music subscriber for a few years, and never once did I equate anything YouTube with it. The only time I use YouTube is to watch a video on how to do something or a rare review of a product. Obviously, YT does much more, but I'm not into it, and I doubt I'm the only one that doesn't watch YT all day.

I don't watch YT much either. It is so boring all Top 10 and unboxing videos however paying for music gave you ad-free YT which was a bonus now that they are taking it away you are better off using AM or Spotify.

Yeah, please tell me how my friends bands can use their imaginary internet monopoly money when their van breaks down in the middle of nowhere, Iowa to call a tow truck.

just change it to dollars

Hmm, I want to search for Rolling Stones Tattoo You but I don't see the search function.
Are you sure you put in the correct url?

you won't find them on there, its still an early stage, lots of good music and more found there tho.

sooner or later this will overtake everything, thats just my opinion.

I don't think this is true. While for myself YouTube without ads is a nice bonus, I use it mostly because Spotify is not reliable with Chromecast and Apple Music does not work with Chromecast. For whole home audio that is not prohibitively overpriced (Sonos), Google Play Music is about the only gig in town.

want to add that this is especially nice for not so well known bands, the payout is miles ahead compared to spotify & co, like 700 plays same payout as 1 million plays on spotify, where artists get like, nothing, seriously there is no money to make if your not Kanye west....

Once again, Google kills a service and replaces it with a similar service. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the killed Gmail.

Which would be an ultimate bomb for their reputation methink.

Again, middle of nowheresville, where you'd be lucky to find an ATM let alone a data signal. Some bumpkin wrecker driver is going to think you want him to chew on a Quarter if you start talking about a bitcoin.

[doublepost=1526649552][/doublepost]youtube is the biggest and most used platform to stream music literally "free" right now.

I don't understand why this new service should see broad adoption, the biggest chunk of users still does not want, or can pay for this, while the biggest chunk of artists get nothing from all this services.

Intermediaries in the music industry are the root cause of this Problem.

broad adoption only happens if vast benefits for both sides are available, the consumer and the creator.
the Blockchain territory is the only place that can provide all of this.

i predict the first big jump onto this by the end of this year, and worldwide broad adoption in the next 2 years or less.
it will come, its just a matter of time.

Blah blah blah, imaginary internet money.

Hey, I'll sell you some of my billions in GTA Online money. 10 million for say, $50. That's better than Rockstar's price and nets you more.

Then you can report back and tell me how well you did at spending that 10 million fake internet money in the real world.

Some bad news about Youtube Music. I found out that they are streaming music in 140kbps really terrible sound quality. I checked the hidden stats for nerds to find this out. If you think Play Music sounds muddy just listen to YT Music with a good pair of headphones.

I also signed up for Spotify I can get it for $9.99 for 3 months as a compliment to AM. There are some albums on there with tracks that AM have missing and visa-versa. I just hope when my 3 month promo ends I can get it through Hulu as right now I can only get Spotify with a discount if I use the ad ridden Hulu version.

They already tried that with the failed Inbox service.

I’m not sure what the issue is here. This is a lot like complaining that you can’t watch Netflix originals on your Amazon Prime account. Larger artists make the choice of where they want to be available. As consumers we have little choice but to follow or not listen. If these means local files or services x, so be it. These options will never go away. TBH is is not realistic to expect one service to handle 100% of cases. There will always be someone willing to fill the gap.

The issue is simple. Each one of these services wants to be *the* go-to for listening to music. Right now, with Apple Match, we have a great way to fill in the gaps in a consistent, consolidated UI. No one wants to go to multiple apps for each type of media. That's why the Apple TV App is potentially so great.

If you don't listen to non-mainstream music it isn't an issue. If you do... this could easily become a problem.

So just because in True Google Fashion(tm), this is completely convoluted and over-complicated, here's the quick translation of what you get if you are already subscribing to one of their duplicate mess music services:

If you subscribe to Google Play Music, you will be converted to YouTube Music Premium, which is only a music service just like now.

If you subscribe to current-Youtube Music, you will be converted to YouTube Music Premium.

If you subscribe to YouTube Red, you will be converted to YouTube Premium, which includes the music service as well as the YouTube features.

In keeping with the official policy of making things as ass-backwards as possible, the smartest thing to do right now if you are a Google Play Music or YouTube Music subscriber is to cancel immediately and sign up for YouTube Red. This will give you the same exact thing you already have, for the same price, but also will give you the premium YouTube features going forward.

If you really want to make your head implode, go over to the android subreddit and try to watch people explain why this actually makes any semblance of sense.
Except current Google Music subscription already includes YouTube Red and YouTube music. This is in the Google blog announcement: Current YouTube Red and Google Play Music subscribers in the U.S., Australia, South Korea, New Zealand and Mexico will continue to get the features they already enjoy at the same price they pay today. So it makes no sense to cancel subscription, actually makes more sense to subscribe now.
