Mine shipped too! On Friday but apple just updated it on the website to shipped! Expected to arrive tomorrow

I think you missed the point of my comment. The point being.

My opinion, when in agreement with site rules and policy, is just as valid as the next users.

The poster was outright dismissive of my opinion, pretty much telling me to get lost.

Your comment makes sense in the context of my original post. You cite factual reasons as to why you disagree with me (valid ones, IMHO) and make a cogent argument as to why you believe your viewpoint is worthy of consideration (it is). So your post served to convince me that perhaps my viewpoint was wrong, and worthy of re consideration.

Disagree with me, that's just fine. Cite a valid reason, I will listen to it (like yours) and consider that I'm not the primary market for a $2,000 laptop.

But the form equivalent of "sit down and shut up" is at a minimum, rude and unproductive. "Durafab" told me this wasn't the form for me. I didn't know it was their place to dictate which forums were for me. I suppose I'm just not cool enough for the room these days....
Yeah. And all that said I think Apple needs to release a larger Macbook Air with the M2. That will be cost effective and suit the needs of most users.

Agree about the dismissiveness. I can sometimes do it myself but I try to include some info on why I disagree. These are very much expensive machines and you get a lot for it. The initial benchmarks posted on anandtech show it is exactly what I am looking for. Can't wait to run it through its paces.

It matters to designers. Like it or not, they (apple products) portray a certain creative image. I wouldn’t be seen dead walking to a client presentation with anything other than a MBP.
I get it - but I'll say I'm in the camp of "not liking it" one bit.
I used to do I.T. for a creative marketing type company, and this attitude was very prevalent there. We gave people the option to choose if their company-issued laptop was a Mac or a Windows PC and it resulted in about a 50/50 split of people choosing the Mac over the Windows machine.

What we noticed over time though, as we did support for everyone and watched what they actually did with their computer, was a whole lot of people wanted the Mac *only* for the image. It was a big deal to them to be seen carrying something with the Apple logo on it in to give a client presentation. On the Windows side though, we offered people the latest MS Surface Pro with a docking station and all the "goodies". The people who had a Windows preference would be quite happy taking one of those in to a presentation too -- and nobody ever looked down on them for it or gave the business to someone else over it.

If anything, they often got positive feedback or compliments about the ability to draw right on the screen on one, vs the Mac that had no such feature.

I get people not wanting to show up with some old "beater" laptop or one that looks just like the entry-level stuff the client gives their own rank and file workers. But beyond that? If it's a new model of anything, I think clients are suitably impressed. Just use the tool that helps you get the work done the easiest for you.

I think this might say more about the company you worked with than the actual differences. I had a Surface Pro at a place I worked and it was an absolute pile of crap. Read the current reviews of the surface pro. Not a single one says anything good other than something like " but if you need a windows touch screen..." Some people might buy Macs for the cred or image, sure, just as some people buy certain cars for same. But this thread is about professional machines. When someone provides good reasoning for using this or that, it's generally based on many years of professional experience.

I know the Surface Pros get some poor reviews. But in the interest of "eating the dog food", I used one for a long time there as my primary machine. And truthfully, when it was docked, I couldn't tell it wasn't a regular desktop Win 10 PC.

Granted, we had the good sense to only order models with higher specs.... Core i7 or i5 at the lowest, and tried to do 16GB RAM with a 512GB SSD minimum.

Did we see some hardware problems with them? Sure.... I think we had 2 where the batteries in them started swelling up and actually pushed the screen away from the rest of the unit. A couple of them had defective front-facing cameras too. One of the Surface docks was defective. But compared to the total number purchased, it wasn't anything surprising.

My single biggest gripe about them was the occasional crash where it would go dark like it was powered off or in sleep mode but refused to come back up. The solution was something like you'd only expect to have to do with a smartphone ... holding down a couple of buttons at the same time for 10-15 seconds and then letting go and pressing power again. Wasn't a huge deal but would totally confuse the average user whenever it happened to them for the first time.

My point is, they were a totally legitimate option for a business PC for people and you could do your PowerPoints or use your Adobe CS apps on them about as well as you could on any other PC notebook. Plus you got the pencil and touch-screen capabilities. Our artists really appreciated that. (On the Mac side, we had people requesting an iPad AND their Macbook Air or Pro just so they could get that same functionality.)

I'm a long time Mac user and fan, but I'm not close-minded and just bashing all things Windows because of some sort of Mac allegiance. I've worked for several places using both platforms together and I believe each has pros and cons.

Received mine. Woohoo ?

Unlike the saga of the iPad last year, this one is making good time. It went from Shanghai to Japan to Memphis in a 12 hour span of time. FedEx still says Friday morning but I wouldn't be surprised if it came earlier.

Regrettably I had it sent to work because it requires a signature and I'm now quarantining because my daughters tested positive (Wife and I are negative) so ... I'll be waiting for my secretary to text me so we can arrange some back alley 6 foot apart drop off and if it doesn't come in before she leaves at noon I'll have to wait until Monday.

mine changed 12h ago to preparing to ship, and original date maintains, 3rd Nov - 9th Nov.

How long took this preparing to ship state for you guys?

Mine changed as well. It is preparing to ship. My original date was 17th Nov - 24th Nov.

Ugh...ship date moved from Nov 5-10 to Nov 19-29. They finally put the authorization charge to my card. Not sure why they waited 2 weeks when I placed my order within 2 minutes of being able to order. Oh well....it is what it is. God hates me LOL

My credit card just had the charge put on it, so looks like something is happening. Still no change on the site about the shipping date. It still says, "Arrives 18 Nov - 25 Nov"

I'm also doing a trade-in of my 2016 MBP, so still waiting on the trade-in kit.

Interesting... mine was picked up Saturday In Shanghai and it Is still there. Talked to DHL today and they said it Is waiting a new flight to be sent and that they have no Idea when it will be. However, at apple website changed from 3 rdNov - 9th Nov to "arrive at 5th Nov". I don't believe that it will arrive in 2 days it is still waiting for a damm flight

My order now shows preparing to ship. Anyone able to give feedback on time between preparing to ship to actually shipping and then from shipping to in your hand?

Mine shipped today. So, preparing to ship, to actually shipping, seems like 2 days.

To your hand will depend on where in the world you are, and where it is shipping from.

well, mine changed to preparing to ship Friday, then Saturday was picked up from Shangai (30 Oct), and my ETA was 3rd Nov - 9th Nov. The system did not update until Thursday 4th Nov in the morning (I thought they lost the parcel :p ) - saying that it was already here in Auckland. Received same day around 3 pm.
