Shipments of the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros are now "Preparing to Ship" for some customers ahead of when the first delivery is expected to arrive at customers next week.

The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro became available for pre-order earlier this week and it quickly became clear demand for the new laptops is high. Shortly after pre-orders opened, estimated shipments dates for the new MacBook Pros quickly began slipping, with some configurations being up to a month away from delivery.

The new MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 for the 14-inch model featuring an M1 Pro chip and can go as high as $6,099 for the 16-inch model with a maxed-out M1 Max chip, 64GB of unified memory, and 8TB of storage.

The new MacBook Pros are the first major redesign to the MacBook Pro since 2016 and include an expanded array of ports, a brand new mini-LED display featuring a notch, and the M1 Pro or M1 Max chips. Learn more about the new laptops using our roundups.

Literally ordered mine 1 minute too late and ended up with a Nov 4 - 8 ship date. I’m excited but for that much money I do wish I was getting it on release day :(
Did you spec yours up? I was checking for an hour after it opened and it was still on launch day for all the stock configs.

They won't be shipping to me. What a hideous design. And a notch in a laptop, but no Face ID? Are you kidding me??? Look how quickly they are rolling back the terrible design decision around the Safari tab colouring. Hardware design decisions are not so easily reversed. They need to get Ive back ASAP before they do something terminal.

Of course the saving grace will be the incredible M1 Pro and M1 Max, and for these alone I predict the laptops will sell well. If you are desperately waiting for yours I hope you don't have to wait too long!

I've got a custom config Oct 26 delivery but no change yet. Perhaps it's preparing only for people who bought stock models?

I ordered my 14" MacBook Pro M1 Max configured with GPU 32 cores, 64GB of unified memory and a 4TB SSD within two minutes of the site becoming operational. I was given the firm 26 Oct delivery date. I am not seeing any movement of the progress bar so wonder if a few were already on shore in California. I know my iPhone 13 Pro Max with 1TB of ram I ordered in the first few minutes shipped immediately out of California.

You got more vertical screen out of the deal. It's in an area of the screen you don't use. The Notch is so much nothing.

I'm waiting for reviews on Monday. Then I will decide between the M1 Air and 14". If I go with the 14" I'll just do instore pick up on launch day (I'm guessing most Apple stores will have the base 14" on launch).

Leaning to the 14", though I can spec out the Air to match the base 14" (16 GB/512 GB) and add the Pro Apps bundle for $322 less than the 14" with no Pro apps. Hmmm.

Basically then comes down to nicer/larger screen + slightly faster processor/GPU vs more portable and longer lasting battery. + Pro apps.
