No. I don't think I'd want them disassembling it down to the motherboard in the back, anyway. They don't do anything back there except for the "user-replaceable" parts.
Not entirely true. I took my Macbook in a couple months ago and they replaced (in 45 minutes) the top cover (palmrest thing), the LCD bezel, the keyboard, and the trackpad.

Good god, reading this thread is scaring the crap out of me! My BTO isnt even here yet. Seriously though, should I be monitoring my laptop like a crazed lunatic when I get it, or are these issues few and far between? I didnt realize that many users monitored the constantly fluctuating temperatures of their macs. Not at all taking away from the OP's problem, but is this a concern thats just being heard by the loud few on an internet forum, or is this a real widespread problem on MBP's?

Ok. I have got a BTO MacBook Pro 15 inch with the 1 gig graphics card. This is my first MacBook so I was worried when I heard about the thermal issues. I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a week, and am happy to report that I have had no issues with heat at all. I have run Portal, TF2, and Civ 5 all on full with no problem, and have had a max temp. of about 75-80degrees, which is hot but not worrisome. My temp right now is 45 degrees, which is what I'm at when on Safari and using iTunes and uTorrent. Overall I would say that these temp issues are way out of proportion and that very few macbooks are affected.

I agree

That's too bad.
Hope Apple can fix this on the next update.

Fix what? This is a rare rare issue. Apple is not PERFECT as most would like to imagine, once in a while someone will pick out a lemon. All you have to do is exchange it. Don't beat yourself up over it. Fyi when I started reading this thread I immediately panicked and started doubting getting a Macbook, but after reading through the WHOLE thread, I have come to the conclusion that it's a very rare occurrence.
