Apple stay cheap
$5500.00 option for M2 Mac Mini. Doesn't seem cheap to me anymore.

Disgusting really but totally expected. No newer machine should have lower specs than an older machine. It shoiuld be the same or better.

While I agree with you, do other aspects of the new machine's architecture make up for that? Disk read/write speed is just one factor, not the end-all-be-all.

I'm not defending Apple except to say that people need to keep perspective. If the M1's never had the faster speeds, this would be a non-issue today. Apple _did_ lower the price of the M2 mini, so that matters, too. It's not like they are doing shrinkflation with it. It still outperforms the M1 mini in every other aspect.

That sucks! The new single nand ssds have a similar random read speed to the old two nands. This means that in day-to day usage (excluding swap memory) they perform almost identical. I don`t understand why they are going backwards with this, kinda hope that in the future we will see faster ssds!
Although this time Apple did lower the price of the M2 mini outside of the US(atleast in my country), but the new MBP are more expensive.

Ok so not too surprising tbh. With precedent happening on m2 air it’s only a matter of time for such practice to creep in other products.
Theres gonna be dozens of people at the very least jumping in arguing “it doesn’t matter” when swap speed directly impacts the performance and experience.
We will see.

I hate that click bait and stupid crap like this gets more attention than actual usage. Sure this is not good if you’re editing 4K movies and I swear everyone here that wants to buy a Mac does that for a living 😂

I don’t edit 4K videos, so I will likely be buying the base M2 mini.
