I admit I didnt read every page, so forgive me if it's already been asked. if I update from 3.0b1 to 3.0b2, am I also forced to update xcode or can I continue using the old 3.0b1 sdk?

I know, I know... I should be using the latest one, but they're frickin huge and they put a large dent in my month download quota.

In order to have xcode you need the last version

I think I screwed up royally.

I'm a newly registered and activated developer and downloaded and installed the SDK. Then I downloaded and installed 3.0. But I didn't first register the UDID. Going through the documentation I read: "Please DO NOT install the iPhone OS before registering device UDIDs, as installation on non-registered devices will render them inoperable."

Now my iPhone is locked, purple-screened, asking to be connected to iTunes (it is) and appears like I just bricked it.

When I go to iTunes I get: "We're unable to complete your activation. This device is not registered as part of the iPhone Developer Program. If you are a member of the Program (I am), please register your device in the iPhone Developer Program Portal."

But since I already 'installed' 3.0 before registering the UDID...I think I'm screwed.

Can anyone help? I tried calling Dev Support because I read in some Google search that you can give them the UDID and get it all back on track?

I think I'm going to go drink now lol

You could borrow a friends windows based computer and do the following:

Windows XP: Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Apple Computer\Lockdown

Windows Vista: Browse to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\roaming\Apple Computer\Lockdown

Found the answer to my own question haha. Going to help now, since I saw that many were trying to find this.

For all iPhone users with 3.0 currently installed on their phones, and have their UDID on a dev's registered device list, I found the link where you can get Beta v2.

I don't think I'm allowed to post it here, so I guess you can PM me, or email me at justenbalay@gmail.com

It is against your terms of service to accept people into your developer account.

It is ILLEGAL for you to post the firmware anywhere.

Actually, it's not. If that were the case, then a developer could never have ANY testers at all. And I'm not saying that I'm a developer, I am just one of the many others with my UDID on a dev's account. And it is illegal, you're right, for them to distribute the download for 3.0 v1 or v2, but it is NOT illegal for me to give it away.

It's against the terms of service to accept random people outside your business of development, at least, then. And yes, it is Apple's intellectual property, closed beta software, and you can't give it away.

It has to be given away somehow. And who says my dev is a random person? Apple would never know if a developer's testers were random or not.

Mmm... no, it doesn't. Probably because they don't give it away.

I'd say that if I looked at two UDIDs registered to one account, one in California and one in Kentucky, that it would be safe to say that they had absolutely nothing to do with one another, and I'd shut down the account.

I agree with you about giving the firmware away, but dev's do have testers from all over the place.

Well, and I bet a lot of people are registered as individual developers (like me). The way it works is that you get 100 devices for your "team." If you are an individual, you are noted as being the only member of your "team." This leaves no wiggle room with the rules.

All of these people who are selling spots are breaking the rules because it is explicitly wrong to sell, rent, allow to use, etc.. Apple software to anyone who is not in your direct "team."

These cheaters are going to make Apple rethink its relationship with developers if they keep it up.

not true actually. i am a registered developer and my dad and i are working together on our next app. i live in phoenix, az and he lives in washington state. we both are programming and developing the same app but we live in different states and he is registered under my account. point being apple would need more proof.

now thats not to say they wouldnt do it any anyway(when i say do it i mean kick me out of the program) but they wont cuz it wouldnt be good business if in reality we arent doing anything to harm apple as a company. they only put those terms with beta software in case some tries to display the company in a negative way and the terms give apple the legality to kick the person out but still keep the money.

Just going to throw this out there, Beta version 2 is outstanding. You can definately tell the difference between the first and this one. I'd say it is usable for someone's primary device now.

Anyone else noticing that you cant quit out of the iPod app and keep the music playing? That seems like a MAJOR bug...

iPod library not showing up

When I connect my iPhone to iTunes and look at the contents of the phone, it shows that I have music synced to the device. However, when I open iPod, there is nothing now. And, if I go under settings-->general-->about, it shows that I have no music. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I don't think that is true. There is no geographical clause to the NDA that states all beta testers must reside in the same location. It's perfectly logical for an individual developer to have people on his team that live all over the place. It's painfully easy to collaborate over the web.

car audio?

Has anyone tried attaching their 3.0 beta 2 iphone to their car's usb? At least with my car, it has not worked at all since beta 1.

Thanks in advance.

Restore, and that should fix it.

I just bought a DLO FM transmitter and it did not work, but worked with my friends iPhone who is running 2.x

So looks like I'll be downgrading.

3.0 Beta 2 Email signature reset bug?

Anyone notice that if you try to update your email signature it will reset to the "Sent from my iPhone" default?

Just noticed that also. Even if you EDIT your signature, as soon as you exit it changes it back to "Sent from my iPhone." Hope this gets fixed soon!
