Relatively it isn' t a price increase of 20%. If we are going to talk in percentages anyway . It has an increase of 100% against the iPad Air 2 in storage: 16gb vs 32gb.
And about that: iPad 2 32gb, iPad 3 32gb , iPad 4 32gb and iPad air 1 32 gb were released at 599us.For the 64gb they charged 699
So with the air 2 you got a break for 64gb at 599. Otherwise it has always been 599 for 32gb.
So the 2014 decrease of 15% should not be normal accordingly to your standards.
And now they corrected it to normal..

The price of those components continually go down as time goes by. They are still charging the same price as 6 years ago. Has technology not improved in 6 years? Otherwise, my standards stand.

Raising prices helps when sales are falling

Really?? Why?? How can increasing the price would improve the declining sales??

I thought increasing the price would put more people off buying the device because it is more expensive!!

It should be the other way round Apple should LOWER the prices for there iPads now instead of increasing the price because there will be a lot HIGHER chance, that would make a lot more people buy the device and basically it is common sense!!

At $599 price you can get the Surface Pro 3 and run Photoshop. And of cause, the Pen is included.

But you have deal with Windows just because it is definitely not as touch friendly compared to IOS/Android and does not have touch friendly apps in there App Store for tablets compared to App Store and the Play Store for tablets which so the only other option is there are lots lots desktop programs and they are not touch friendly and pretty much you have to use a mouse to use them which it definitely defeats the purpose of a tablet and it is frustrating and annoying using a Windows tablets sometimes!!

iPads and Android tablets are so so much much better then Windows tablets in especially in that aspect and please don't tell me that iPad and Android tablets are going away to disappear because of Windows tablets because that definitely won't be happening hopefully and lots lots of people and me don't want that to happen!!!

So what? It's suppose to be a "pro" tablet. It runs Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

A lot of desktop apps work fine with touch and some also support Tablet Mode.

There are a lot of touch friendly apps in the Windows Store.

Sure, there may not be the latest re-release of Angry Birds, but like I said before, this is supposedly a "pro" tablet

I dont get how Apple names its devices.

If 2 different size ipads are called Pro, why do we have 6s and 6s plus, shouldnt they both just be called 6s?

To those saying the upgrades are worth $100 more, you seem to be forgetting that the price for all the components used in the iPad Air 2 18 months ago are now cheaper. Every new model, you get faster/better/more as an incentive to buy a new product, while the price remains relatively the same. If you add $100 for all these minor upgrades, then in 5 years the base price will be $1,000...

That was a joke. I thought it is obvious.

With your failed logic, big screen TVs would be still $4k. But they aren't!

You know that when something is new and in high demand with less players in the field the initial prices are high.

Then once the market is saturated and production streamlined and economies of scale are happening, the prices go down.

Happening right now with 4K TVs. These will drop down to "normal" maybe slightly higher than current TV prices.

Then there is R&D to recover etc.

There is a lot of subpar junk out there that makes it seem that electronics are immune to price increases.

If a different manufacturing process like say Retina requires more expensive material then that gets added.

My point is that not every feature can be included for the same price, but Apple users have come to expect it.

Even the days where the Chinese labor rates are low are numbered.

The SE name is garbage. Did they even explain what it meant?

Just to make this clear, I'm not worried for Apple. I'm not a shareholder. I'm just worried about not being able to afford their products anymore.

And "disappointed" and "worried" are not binary feelings. We can feel disappointment and worry at different intensities. Don't assume they are intense feelings and that this has a significant impact on my life. It doesn't.

Say I told you I drank a coffee this morning, and its taste was disappointing and it was so hot I was worried about burning my thong. You wouldn't assume this particular cup of coffee had a significant influence on my life would you?

The thing is that "worry" has never entered my thinking when it comes to Apple products, why should I. If your coffee is burning your thong I'd be very worried where you are pouring it and Apple is the least of your worries :)

The only conclusion I can draw is that there are a lot of artists that need a pencil do draw. I for one, can't find a proper use case for a Pencil, but hey...

I'd love to buy an iPad Pro with the Pencil so that I could continue not drawing* but with nicer equipment. A few years ago I'd already have the gear and it'd be gathering dust.

* I am a blacksmith and I have to draw things and I absolutely hate doing it, even though I'm quite good at it.

The design is not that great.....smh

I realised after looking at it that it's modelled on Ive's icons. 3D object pretending to be a 2D object. It's possibly the worst Apple visual I've ever seen. "Perspective? What's that?" – Ive
