Oh my. No please. Three screen sizes, sure, but please keep the performance the same. Just because I want a 4" phone, doesn't mean I don't want top shelf components.

Sure, make the argument that the extra space in the + model allows for more power. I am saying l, hoping, Apple leaves it out. Make the decision easy by limiting the difference to one core feature: display size.
You do understand that with updated 5S Apple may make it that way, you are describing it, and every year they may show 3 sizes of iPhones with the same, or similar specs but different screen sizes and price points?

I don't think it was ever meant to achieve iphone like figures.

Which is why they should have

No i dont think it was ever supposed to achieve iphone sales. But they would have sold lots more if it was cheaper and not tethered to iphone

You mean tethered like the first few Iphones.... to the PC.
Which also had a hell of a lot of things missing (a lot more than the watch).

Or putting a cell chip and GPS in having it be twice the size and last half the time... That would sure sell well... Just like Samsung's stuff.... (sic)

Most people don't want to have to buy a cell plan for their watch and carry the phone anyway, so "tethering" is actually a positive and makes the battery lasts longer.

The GPS is just about useless running in known terrain (which is what most people do) because of a still rather large positional uncertainty (4 meters margin of errors in the base case possible, often closer to 6-8 meters), the accelerometers once tuned gives you just as much good info and doesn't kill the battery.

As for communications, all but voice calls can be done with simply a WIFI contact from the watch. If your phone is within the same WIFI network, you can also do the voice calls.

The watch will probably sell 12M by january (by the second earning call, estimates were at about 5M).

That's way faster than the Iphone, or even the first Ipad.

You know that Apple sells other products aside from iPhones, right? And that all the other products they sell lead their respective categories by a large margin? And that their first generation smartwatch is now a billion dollar business? And that they just implemented their own financing plan that will likely increase iPhone upgrades rather than decrease?

I'll gladly buy any shares you're selling.

That doesn't matter, look at the percentage of their profit as a direct result of iPhone sales. Its huge, I am not saying that they will be in financial trouble, I am saying that their current stock price will take a huge dive when iPhone sales show even the faintest sign of slowing down and I predict that will be within the next two years

I think iPhone 5S will be the same as it is right now in spec, with 50$ less for unlocked model. 5S+ will come with A8, with 2 GB's of RAM, NFC, new BT and Wi-Fi, FaceTime camera, the same 3 color aluminum case as 5S. With 499$ price tag for 32 GB version, and 450 for 16 GB.

I dont think apple watch is successful, not by apples standards.

And iphone sales will bottom out eventually most likely when the chinese and indian markets are saturated

Most estimates have Apple selling 12-17 million Watches in its first 12 months.
Thats the fastest selling Apple product EVER if it hits the high side of the estimate. Faster to reach 15 million than iPhone or iPad.

Saying that the Watch is not a success is ridiculous.

China is 3-5 years away from saturation. Even the US market is showing iPhone growth. India is a good decade away from saturation.

Add to the fact that Apple is moving a ton of its assets to grow service revenue such as Apple Music, ApplePay, and AppleTV subs. Services revenue is DECADES away from saturation. Then add Apple Car.

If smaller is better... why not a 3" phone?

Or a 2" phone!

:D
The point of having a smaller phone is that you can use it with one hand. 3.5-4" is the perfect size for that, you have a big enough screen to be useful, but still small enough for anyone to use with one hand. Personally I like the aspect ratio better on apple's 3.5" phones than the 4" ones, but I'd be good with either.

I still think that Apple should have 3 sizes, 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 and have the only difference in those be the screen size and possibly thickness as the smaller ones might need to be thicker to accommodate a better battery.

I still dont get it. Will only the internals be different from the 5s or will it, suggested bu the mentioned 2.5d glass, also have a different external design?

I just wish Apple would let all 3 models play against each other equally in the marketplace. I can't stand the idea of having lower specs just because a phone is smaller. If battery is a consideration, that's one thing, but Apple withholds features for no other reason than profit margin. This idea that they always make the best product they can is nonsense. They are a company like any other.

With a PE of 10 the stock price already reflects shrinking sales the next 2 years.

So Apple has a chance to have shrinking sales the next 2 years?
What about Amazon?
What about Microsoft?
What about Google?
Name me a single stock that does not have a risk of shrinking sales the next 2 years?

You can't find one. Yet Google is valued at a PE 300% higher than Apple. Yet you think Apple is more risky? Google has 80%+ of the web advertising. Apple has only 15% of the worldwide phone market. Yet you think Apple has less chance of growth?

Stuffing the same tech in a 4 inch phone is much harder than a 5.5 inch phone.

Also consider that very few people will pay premium price for a 4 inch phone. Thats the reason why there ins't a single premium Android 4 inch phone on the market.

I suspect it will be just like the 5S, but with upgraded internals and externals, and styling similar to the 6/6S (curvy edges, antenna lines).

In other words, not so much like the 5S except for the screen size and the camera. And multiple colors, like the 5C, but in metal, not plastic.

It would be unwise of Apple not to diversify a product line of this importance. The iPhone product line is alone more valuable than Microsoft all together. One can not rely on two models for this. For sure.

It makes perfect sense also to focus diversity on size of phone as well. But this has been done by Apple all along by continuing sales of retired phones. I see sometimes ads for selling iPhone 4S's. And it costs around 250 euro...

I've said a long time that there is room for an iPhone with iPod touch form factor (slim footprint, more fashion less power). I would probably have one and get an iPhone 7+. It is simply not practical to carry an iPhone + going partying or wearing a suit.

Apple's profits from NON-iPhone products is LARGER than the entire Google.
Apple's sales from iPad/Mac/Services/Watch is LARGER than the entire Google.

Don't tell me that Apple's NON-iPhone sales is immaterial.

Google is worth $525 billion.
Apple's NON-iPhone divisions should be worth MORE than Google. Since they generate more revenue, profit, and are growing faster than Google.

So then Apple's NON-iPhone divisions are worth $500 billion.
Apple has over $150 billion in cash.

That means Apple's iPhone division is not worth a single cent.
Is that reasonable to you?

If we could get an almost full phone display with the removal of the physical home button and changing the arrangement of the ear piece/front camera then this would be nearly the same size with a larger screen.

Quit talking about android phones on here.

I love the plastic build on the 5c. I don't know why they wouldn't stick with it.

Definitely stays in the hand better than aluminum does.

I see a lot of 5c's out in the wild still. It was/is a pretty popular phone.

I've got a 5C that a friend of mine gave me that I use as a "test" phone. The colors are a bit garish for my taste, but I think the build it rock solid. Feels very substantial in the hand. If you closed your eyes and picked it up you might not even realize it was plastic.

..and I hope they are able to make the casing and overall footprint smaller than the 5s. I like the small form factor because i take the phone to the gym as my iPod, running, hiking and for it's overall pocket-ability. Not saying I do not like a bigger phone, but as someone who owns two phones, I would like my new 4" to be my go-to daily beater device, and the "plus" to be my second phone as a kinda mini iPad-mini.

But for me, a great camera is a must. The small form factor means it is always on me, and the best camera is the one that is always on you. Hopefully it is an updated camera to the one on the 5s.

People saying there is a strong market for a 4" iPhone: the 4" 5s is still available from Apple now.

Appreciate this rumoured phone would have updated specs, but a 4" iPhone already exists.

Why so much excitement?
