Hmm. All of Gurman's previous rumors indicated AirPods Max would receive no updates other than a USB-C port and new color options, that the update would be so minor it would still be considered first gen. 🤔
The ANC (and transparency mode) is already so good that it’s hard to imagine any significant improvement. Adaptive audio on the other devices I have seems pretty gimmicky, although I guess some people like it. I would still consider this to be a fairly minor update, if true.

Ok but can they please be able to do lossless and all that other wild junk they touted was new in Apple Music a year ago or whenever it was? So ridiculous that they announced new hi res audio formats in their Apple Music catalogue but they don’t have any product that lets you actually listen to it!
I understand that most of those lossless and so on are mostly for marketing purposes. The vast majority of people cannot hear any difference.

HomePods and HomePod mini do lossless.

I wish they’d shrink the cups down a bit, or find a way to offer different sizes. I loved the sound on V1 but couldn’t get a good seal and had a ton of bleed thanks to a smaller head. Returned them and grabbed QC Ultras instead. My only device out of the ecosystem…

Is that a widespread problem with them?
It’s a problem with some, but there hasn’t been an analysis of what could be causing it to determine if it’s a flaw in the Max’s or the unique operating conditions of those few that have the issue.

I read the problem with the Max is folding them up in the case or whatever that causes the connection issues and if you leave them out of the case in their normal position

No idea if true

If a new one is announced, not expecting it to have any major changes. Might come in some new colours.

it can keep lightning for all i care, just fix the damn condensation fatal flaw that renders them useless especially after apple care runs out
Seriously, what the hell are you guys doing with your AirPods Max?

I've owned about five different pairs over the years. Not a single one had a condensation issue. I've worn them hours at a time watching movies/tv or listening to music. Even after about 6 hours straight wearing them there wasn't a single drop of condensation under the pads.

If you're getting condensation because you're using them whilst out running or at the gym then what do you expect, that's down to you - they're not designed for or aimed at people using them that way, they're a $500+ premium set aimed at "luxury listening" at MKBHD put it.

They have no public IP (water resistance) rating, yet I still see people out occasionally running with them or training at the gym. Their own fault.

If you're not doing that and still getting condensation then you're either extremely unlucky and have a faulty set, or a personal problem that means your ears/body overheats easily.

This.

If this updated set does not support Lossless then I'll be annoyed about it.

4 years for an update, and with Apple Music touting Lossless Audio all over the app for a long time, the only device they have you can use to listen to those formats is if you have APP2s + Vision Pro, making it a very niche format for anyone wanting to stick in the Apple ecosystem.

USB-C + Lossless support + H2 chip as an absolute bare minimum. New case, colors and better battery would be really nice too but not essential.

I get the feeling that whatever they are will be announced today, but won't be available until December and will be really hard to get hold of.

Fav headphones by far. Find it difficult to imagine these puppies can get any better.

Change the fabric so it doesn’t get smelly after 2 weeks, that’s the only real upgrade. Design flaw

Make them a bit smaller and a lot lighter. I loved the max for it’s sound and build quality but I couldn’t use them for more than 1.5-2hrs at a time.

Good. I was planning buying the $1500 B&W H100, but it looks like I will go for the cheaper $500 Apple AirPods Max 2 instead then.
