What is the condensation fatal flaw? I’ve had these since launch day and don’t recall any issue.

Same for me. I have this condensation which people talk about, but my Apple AirPods Max still work.

I'm sure my Apple AirPods Pro 2 condensate too, because I use these for the gym / workouts and I sweat alot, and these work fine still also.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman is sharing some last-minute predictions tonight regarding what we can expect to see at tomorrow's "It's Glowtime" Apple event, and in addition to his claim that the Apple Watch Ultra 2 only appears to be getting a new black color option with no third-generation model being introduced, he believes we will be seeing updated AirPods Max headphones.

In line with his previous reporting about the new AirPods Max, Gurman says the updated models will include improved audio performance in the form of better active noise cancellation and new adaptive audio features, while the headphones will switch from Lightning to USB-C.

Gurman previously suggested that the new AirPods Max might not arrive at tomorrow's event, citing a lack of product shortages for the current models at Apple, but it now appears we may see an introduction after all.

Previous reports have suggested the updated AirPods Max may also include some new color options, but no broader updates to the overall design are expected.

In addition to the AirPods Max, we're also expecting a more significant update for the standard AirPods tomorrow with two new AirPods 4 models rumored, including one with active noise cancellation.

Make up your mind, Mark.

Seriously, what the hell are you guys doing with your AirPods Max?

I've owned about five different pairs over the years. Not a single one had a condensation issue. I've worn them hours at a time watching movies/tv or listening to music. Even after about 6 hours straight wearing them there wasn't a single drop of condensation under the pads.

If you're getting condensation because you're using them whilst out running or at the gym then what do you expect, that's down to you - they're not designed for or aimed at people using them that way, they're a $500+ premium set aimed at "luxury listening" at MKBHD put it.

They have no public IP (water resistance) rating, yet I still see people out occasionally running with them or training at the gym. Their own fault.

If you're not doing that and still getting condensation then you're either extremely unlucky and have a faulty set, or a personal problem that means your ears/body overheats easily.
If you've owned 5 different pairs there must be something wrong with them.

My spouse just gave me the Max on Saturday for my birthday. To be honest, other than the lightning port, they’re better than I could’ve imagined. Even if I had bought them myself, I wouldn’t have buyers remorse. And I might be in the minority, but I like the case.

Another APM thread, another barrage of people blaming failing pairs on users not treating them gently enough. I've only ever used mine indoors (as in my home, not the gym!), always store them in the case when not in use, and always wipe off any condensation, but the head recognition still stopped working a month or two after my Apple Care+ ran out. Loads of other small bugs and issues as well; I've had to restart my APMs more than almost any other Apple product I've ever owned.

But of course, since some people have had no issues at all (which I'm not questioning!), it's impossible for them to comprehend that others have not been so lucky. Were you this quick to assign blame when butterfly keyboards were failing all over the place as well?

I don’t get this; I used these headphones at outdoor work in every day in outdoor weather from the coldest and hottest of 113f, I was sweaty and the headphones drenched with absolutely no issues ever coming out from it; no clue how everyone else ends up with broken AirPod max
I have a working "pair" of those too. Children like to use those, and the APM is still as like a new one with a minor cratch.

Take them back under the 14 day return window and get the new version ! She will understand.

And I am considering buying new one (I have more than one kid obsessed with Netflix Legos)

Ok but can they please be able to do lossless and all that other wild junk they touted was new in Apple Music a year ago or whenever it was? So ridiculous that they announced new hi res audio formats in their Apple Music catalogue but they don’t have any product that lets you actually listen to it!
Current AirPods Max do lossless at 24 Bit 48 kHz, you just need to buy the lightning to 3.5MM cable.

Why? Lightning has plenty of bandwidth for lossless sound. Sure, I look forward to the change but this is not the reason.
And yet five years since Apple debuted lightning AirPods Max and lossless audio never came around, did it? Stop whining about Lightning and let USB-C replace it and give better quality and possibilities like it did in iPhone 15 series!

Nope, that cable is an active device. It converts analog to digital and then the APM themselves have to convert from digital back to analog.

If only I could get that in an all digital connection like I do in Beats Studio Pro through a USB-C USB-C cable connected to iPhone 15, iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, ... with only a single cable!

True, but the cord is a joke. I have it.

Anyone else remember when Gurman reported last October that in 2024...

"...the ‌AirPods Max‌ will see the inclusion of a USB-C port for charging purposes instead of a Lightning port, and Apple will also debut new colors. No other notable features are expected at this time."

Dude really believed Apple was going to wait 4 years to refresh the AirPod Max lineup and then only offer a new port and colors 🤣

Moral of the story: ALWAYS take rumors with a healthy helping of salt

What the hell are you doing with them, if you need a new pair every year?
Looking back, it's four pairs I've had (not five) since early 2021. It's not that much of a stretch?

- First pair replaced under warranty due to driver issue (barely any volume)

- Second pair (replacement) I sold after a year as I wanted to try the Sony XM5s

- Third pair (second hand) I bought after getting bored with the XM5s after a few months and preferring the APMs

- Fourth pair (current set) I've had since June as the previous set were 2 years old and out of warranty and I wanted to take out AppleCare intending to keep them for a while as it didn't seem like Apple were updating them with anything significant other than colours/USB-C.

You are questioning what people are doing with theirs and yet you are on your (about) fifth pair? I would actually ask you what you are doing with it that you go through so many pairs. LOL

I've always been curious if I should purchase these, as I hate sticking my AirPods Pros into my ear at home, but I've held off because it's still lightening. How has people experience been with these over the years? Are they good for both music, film and gaming? I'd love to pair them with my LG tv when playing games and get that full affect of being inside the game. A lot of people say that Sonys are better, but I'm not a fan of mixing brands. I want to stay cohesive if the quality is at pair.

Honestly I am quite curious if a version 2 comes out, to see how they compare to Bang & Olufsen and Bower and Wilkins top headphones. The ANC better be leaps and bounds better.
